Question:	Does this shred block cheese? Also wondering if it works for making nut butters
Answer:	Mine has a compact cover making chopping easier. This will do a better job chopping an onion for example than a mini chopper, with a mini chopper you have to add small amounts and empty and chop an onion in several stages. This is also much more uniform that a mini chopper. A mini chopper is so small it compacts the items, I don't chop with them. The only thing I use a mini chopper for is small amounts of marinates.
Question:	Is this particular model under recall
Answer:	Not sure about potatoes. The metal blade is for chopping and blending. If you want a consistency like hash browns, use the shredding blade. I've only made potato pancakes with leftover mashed potatoes. You would have to pulse carefully so they don't get gummy. As for pasta dough, I use mine for that all the time. You asked about cake. Yes you can use it to mix cake. Just be careful not to over fill to prevent leaking. What any food processor is not as good for is anything you are incorporating air into such as whipping egg whites. Because they have tight lids, it is tricky to get the air needed. I believe there may be special instructions in the manual. Hope this info helps.

Answer:	If you only pulse for about 3 seconds, probably. But it's very powerful and your result could be mush rather than "rice". :)

Answer:	I purchased this food processor to hold me over until my Cuisinart's recalled blade is replaced. I would not recommend this unit for making nut butters. Compared to the Cuisinart, this unit lacks the oomph required for smooth peanut butter. While I wouldn't say it can't make nut butters, I would certainly advise you to consider spending more money for a better food processor.

Answer:	works good for dough but I only use the pulse action otherwise it goes to fast and that creates more heat which you don't want when making pie dough

Answer:	Unfortunately not. There are such things as cubing grids for food processors but as far as I can tell they are made for professional grade food processors and typically cost in the area of $100plus. A quick internet or Amazon search of "cubing grids" will bring up your choices.

Answer:	I can make it reach half way across my sink (approximately 10-11 inches) when I extend it out completely from both pivot points. (At the base is one spot and the 2nd pivot is where there is a bend on the metal arm). Having them both points extended fully makes the faucet head close to the sink. The faucet also can be very compact also which is nice with big pots, etc.

Answer:	I don't get it. We love this food processor but can't stand to wash it. Would not put it in the dishwasher. Everything gets stuck in the top and in the mechanism for the top. And it's clear plastic so you can see all the food caught in there, but there is no way to get it out. We can't figure out how it gets in there in the first place. We use the machine as directed. We wash it immediately after use every single time. I try to use the spray at the sink to get the debris out, doesn't help. Tried soaking it. Tried just at least spraying vinegar inside it to prevent bacteria from building up. We have only had it 5 years and have wanted to replace the bowl and top and Cuisinart is out of stock. And I saw them on sale on Amazon for $45. for just the bowl. And the food processor has gone up in price by $50. since we bought it in 2015. So, I am now actively looking for a replacement for this machine, even though it's still working fine. I can't deal with the clean up any more. Or with what I consider a health hazard having all that debris in there fermenting.

Answer:	.Yes. have taken Oxo up on their warranty for this product a couple times, and they replaced it free of charge. I now have my third one. I don't know if I beat my first two ones up too hard or what, but I'm going easier on this one and using it much less frequently. I'm using a mandoline for most of my dicing needs these days.

Answer:	Yes this chopper works well on foods. The more fine you want it the more you chop...the blade changes direction with every chop so it rotates the food easily.
Question:	How do you remove the safety cover? *Found a video that shows someone pulling on the bottom plastic blade
Answer:	I don't use it with the bottom of the bowl in place, I chop on a chopping board. If the bottom is on I would say it wouldn't hold a lot; as it is I normally chop an onion in quarters and chop on the board.

Answer:	I mostly use it for cheese but I have sliced onions in it and i liked the way they came out. they were individual piecies not the crappy mush some "choppers" leave you with.

Answer:	It does a really good job. I used it to make a small batch of cashew cheese. It minced the nuts easily then when I added the other ingredients it pureed well despite only being a small batch

Answer:	A key function of any food processor is to make purees. The Hamilton Beach 12 cup, turns out a very very coarse paste and purees. No matter how long you process the puree, it will not develop past a certain point. If you need the processor for vegetable prepping, it works as expected.

Answer:	Yes, it is BPA free. I ordered directly from Amazon in November 2016 and the unit that arrived states "All materials that come in contact with food are BPA free."

Answer:	Yes, I had the same question. So, very carefully, I pulled the plastic blade (the flat plastic blade closest to the steel blades) downward and slowly worked it off using even pressure all around. Then I slipped off the safety cover. The plastic blade can then be reattached by re-aligning the ring. Thanks everyone for the advice.

Answer:	I have no idea. I bought it to smush chunky cat food to a "pate" consistency for my senior cat. Great idea - not so great on the execution. It took A LOT of effort to get the right consistency, and it also kept oozing out of the sides. I should have been proactive and returned it, but I didn't. It's currently taking up space in an upper cupboard. *sigh*

Question:	Can someone tell me the diameter of the stainless steel discs
Answer:	I have not made fruit pies or cobblers, but it did not react with tomatoes which are also high acid. I have fermented Muscadine grapes, a variety of Scuppernong in a stainless stock pot with no problems. My guess is your old one was not pure stainless. A good stainless steel will not react.
Question:	I have arthritis in my wrist and want to know if anyone thinks this would be easier to use than original presses. Does it eliminate twisting
Answer:	I did not cook my tomatoes before using the mill, and that's exactly what I used it for-- to remove skins and seeds. I dipped the whole tomatoes in scalding water for a minute or two to loosen the skins, but did not cook them.

Answer:	This press is very difficult to use. It took both my wife and I to push the button and then simultaneously lift the press rod. You DO have to do some twisting and screwing. The instructions are terrible.

Answer:	Yes, the case comes with 12 built-in slots to hold the starter disks upright, but there is room to fit additional disks bewteen the slots (however, as these extra disks are not held in place, they tend to bump into the other disks, potentially scratching them). The extra disk sets do NOT come with a storage case; I wish that OXO would make an optional larger storage case available with at least 30 slots to hold the 12 starter disks plus any additional seasonal sets they release (there are currently 12 additional disks available for spring and fall, with potentially more to come)

Answer:	I don't know the letter size. I bought the OXO extra sets. I had discs from cookie guns I had in the past and kept the discs after those broke. Some of them fit, some don't. The OXO discs are on the small size. If you find sets from other companies that fit the OXO, I would be interested in knowing about them so I could add to my selection.
