Answer:	This is the finest mesh product we carry, and it is likely to be a good fit for what you need it for. However, we have not used it specifically for that purpose, and therefore can't guarantee any results.

Answer:	I use it to strain eggs for custard, it would work for the soups too or any fine type of pureed food, but I don't think it would be the best for hard coarse type of food since you'll end up with the clear juice, I would go for apple sauce or any bigger particles of food with a fine mesh or Chinois

Answer:	Yes. I even used this for straining the pulp and seeds from lemon juice that I needed in a recipe - fine mesh is too fine and not as easy to clean. Use it for pasta, veggies, rinsing beans, lentils and am sure split peas would be similar.

The stainless ring is a thin ring holding the colander and it is solid so there wont be any leaking on the side of the bottom through the ring, but the base or inside between the ring, which is the bottom of the actual colander, has holes to drain through the bottom, between the solid ring that actually touches the surface that the colander sits on.

Answer:	I don't know. Let's find out!First I'll Measure the holes using a Drill Bit - 5/32 of an inch. About the size of a fat toothpick. The holes are round at the bottom of the colander but stretch a little to an oblong shape as they go up the sides.Next I'll pour in some dry uncooked rice. I have Minute Instant Whole Grain Brown Rice (Cooks in 10 Minutes) in the pantry. That'll have to do. I pour 1/4 cup of dry uncooked rice into the colander. I stir it and shake it around a bit. About 15 - 20% of it falls through.Now for the cooked rice. I follow the instructions on the side of the box.1 Cup Rice1 Cup WaterBoil for 5 minutes - Simmer for 5 minutesAt the end of the cooking time, I pour the rice into the colander and repeat the stirring and the shaking - no rice falls through. I'm 100% sure you can buy a piece to go from it to a pedal than to the head set, but take it from me don't get there ac30 headset or any of the headset period with this. Answer:	Mine arrived, yesterday, and it smells VERY strongly of something like washing powder. Washing and airing didn’t remove it and I baked it at 160 degrees (convection) for 10min and the smell went through the house, even with the back door and window were open (in kitchen). It’s not 100% silicone, so the smell is likely to be from the plastic used as the filler. I’m disgusted with OXO and won’t be purchasing anything else with their brand name on it.

Answer:	No!! The holes are too large for quinoa. I bought this set instead of another one just because someone said it would work for quinoa, but that isn't true. They basically fall right through the colander. Not a happy camper at all.

Answer:	They are welded as well as the feet. It’s less than an inch, but the feet are not welded very well. Two out of the three already detached from the strainer. Not happy with the product. No support option available as well.

The "hole" truth.

Hole size in a colander is very important. Large holes allow water to escape quickly, but also make it easy for food to squeeze out. Small holes keep the food in, but create a slow drain of water which means the food continues to over cook in hot water. In our design tests, the best performing designs used mesh style materials with tiny holes 2 to 3 mm large. The HOLM colander has 2.3mm holes to give it a good balance between water flow,food retention, and strength. The mesh doesn't bend even when filled with large fruit.

The right design.

I know what you are thinking - a colander is just a bowl with holes. What's the big deal? Most of us suffer with a lousy colander that we bought at one time or another. Ones with holes that are so big that pasta falls through right into the sink. Or ones that drain too slowly and ruin food. Or ones that have a base that blocks the drain so that water washes back into your freshly cooked pasta. Or that are a huge pain to wash or that are a little too small. At HOLM we designed our colander to be the last colander you'll ever buy. It handles pasta, fruit, vegetables, your kitchen cabinets, and your dishwasher like a champ.

Reliably Sturdy.

When designing our colander, we experimented with different materials; ceramics, plastics, and stainless steel. We also tried several different shapes, including some innovative collapsible versions. In the end, we found that the best material was one we trusted: Stainless steal. The best, most reliable performing shape, was the traditional bowl shape. Our design innovation wasn't in reinventing what already worked well, but in making the best quality colander possible. The HOLM colander looks pretty and does the job. Sturdy handles wont get hot easily when draining hot foods, and make it easy to lower the loaded colander into a sink (even when wearing cooking mitts!)

Answer:	The legs are about 11 1/2" long, the ring is about 6 1/2" diameter and the bag hangs down about 7 1/2" when installed. I thought it may be too small but it was just right when I made strawberry, sour cherry and blueberry jellies. I just hand washed the bag and reused. It holds up well and is well stitched. Works well for my needs.

Answer:	This strainer is wonderful. All the lil seeds on the fruits I have used do not get through. Strawberry, raspberry, cherry tomatoes, blackberry. This bag needs to be bigger but other then that it's a great. I have 100% seedless canning. The bag washes up easily also
