Question:	I am not locating the replacement wire on the slicer I just received. Where was your's located in the packaging or slicer
Answer:	I just received the slicer today, November 10, 2020, and THE PACKAGE DID INCLUDE the replacement wire. As others have mentioned though, be very careful when you open the package as the replacement wire, and two little gold end pieces, are LOOSE inside the sealed package. I suggest you lay the package face-up on a flat surface and inspect the package through the clear plastic before opening it. The replacement wire is laying loosely above and parallel to the original wire, and the tiny gold end pieces are on the wire, but there is nothing to stop them from rolling off the wire and onto the floor when you open the package. I stored the replacement wire, with the gold end pieces, in a plastic sandwich bag with the piece of the cardboard package that identifies it. Good Luck and Happy Slicing!
Question:	Can I get really thin slices with this slicer
Answer:	This is a great slicer, but I have not had much success with really thin slices.
Question:	The wire broke after only using it 4 times. How do I use the 1 year warranty
Answer:	We purchased this unit on September 20th. The original wire broke a few weeks ago and the replacement wire broke only 3-4 slices later. I will let you know how the warranty goes.
Question:	Can someone tell me the gauge of the stainless wire? I know it will inevitably break and maybe I can use some spooled stainless I already have
Answer:	Answering my own question: I bought one and measured the wire. The wire diameter is .022 inches, which corresponds to 23 American Wire Gauge (AWG). The holes in the holders of the wire ends appear to have a bit of excess opening, so the more-commonly-available (and slightly larger at .025") 22 AWG might work. The wire is held in place in the holder by the last 1/8" or so being doubled back on itself and flattened, so a pair of pliers would probably serve to crimp them. I'll try getting some wire and doing this if(when) the original and replacement have broken. Seems like that'll be less trouble than trying to obtain a replacement from the vendor anyway. In fact, when the original breaks, I'll probably try making a new one then because I'll need the intact replacement in order to get the length just right, that being critical to keeping the wire in the proper tension.

Answer:	The board is hard plastic. Well I like it. To me its sturdy enough. I like it how it has a measurement on it & I've cut meat's, cheese's & fruit's on it with no problem. The blade is REALLY sharp.
Question:	How thin can you cut softer cheeses
Answer:	Actually it doesn't cut the hard cheese right either. The blade is so fat that it pushes the slice way out from the block as it slices and it crumbles, breaking apart. I bought it for cheddar and had to return it. See my video below.

Answer:	I bought this for my elderly father. He has trouble holding knives. He buys these huge blocks 5x5 sharpe cheddar cheese and it works great for him. He can control the thickness of slices easily. It is extremely sharpe though so be careful while cleaning. I sliced my finger while washing the blade. It is still the best cheese slicer we’ve ever had. No wires to break and replace.

Answer:	I always buy the 1 inch by 5 1/2 inch size blocks of cheese, and lay it on the slicer with the short side vertical. I just tried slicing it the other way, (5 1/2 tall), and it was slightly more difficult to cut precisely, but it worked.

Question:	How do I replace a broken wire? Do I have to remove the handle; if so, how do I do that? Sorry, but I need step by step instructions
Answer:	Unscrew the handle and remove the broken wire from both ends. On the bottom of the slicer, there should be two wires taped to the bottom. Each wire has two loops on it. Slip the wire over both ends from where they were attached and screw the handle back on. The handle should allow you to put tension on the wire to make it good and tight. (The handle is the tensioning device.)

Question:	Is the wire replaceable
Answer:	Mine did not come with wires. And it broke after about 6 months, but my lovely spouse was cutting a large chunk of fairly hard cheese and tried to rush it, and did not cut it properly. If you have a large (the chunk in question was about 3 inches), you don't just pull it through. Pull it down on the left, then the right (or right then left and then center. Work the slicer through it like that until you come out the bottom. Or be prepared to go very slowly. The is no cheese slicer made on which the wire will not break if you push it to hard.

Answer:	The Westmark HD cheese slicer is 4" in total width. the exact width of the cutting wire is 3 1/2", and to complete the sizes it is 5" in length. In my own opinion, this Westmark German made HD cheese slicer is the highest quality food slicer offered in the kitchen utensil retail market! I'm a MInnesota native and I enjoy eating cheese almost on a daily basis, as a snack with Wheat Thins, etc, I melt a slice of white goat cheese on my morning breakfast sandwich of a poached egg on a toasted everything bagel and a slice of tomatoe. Answer:	You should never wash a wire cheese slicer in the dishwasher, like never ever. You shouldn't wash aluminum in the dishwasher either, no matter what the instructions say. It oxidizes. And this is an aluminum & stainless steel wire cheese slicer.....so no, it's not dishwasher safe. It states in the description to wash it "Simply with soap & water" meaning hand wash only.

Answer:	I have had about 5 of these cheese slicers over the years. I think the average life is about 6-7 years. They might last longer but things happen. They don't work well on playdoh, although it lasted about 2 years. One I had for about 5 years I gave to my new daughter in law who was visiting during Christmas and commented about on the ease of use - she's been using it for about a year. I broke the wire on one - I'd only had it for 2 or 3 years. I was trying to cut a solid cheese brick of Irish cheese. My husband told me the cheese was too hard, but noooo... I'd had my slicer experience going good for years - I just knew it would work. Or Not. Even using a knive was hard to cut the cheese. I was so dedicated to this slicer that I ordered it from England and Germany when I needed one - and I've given the many slicers as gifts. 1. Firstly,attach the screw into the spare wire.
2. Insert the screw and spare wire through the hole on the product.

Answer:	Replacement wires are available browne 386W. The wire is cheap but shipping is X each wire individually any where from 9 to 15 dollars per wire I found them at 5.60 each to a low of (1.31 but must buy 100 ) Needless to say buy a new one that comes with a spare wire

Answer:	There are packages of wires that are specially made for these slicers - 5 wires for around $6. I've found that the strings break occasionally. The plain, skinniest string on a guitar (the E/#1steel string) work well for replacement. A single guitar string is around $1 and you can cut several 6-inch sections from 1 string. Also, you could try uncoated florist or trellis wire from the hardware store - it looks about the same thin gauge. Saw someone recommend piano wire, but it comes in large packages so isn't cheap enough and you'd never use it all since most of us don't change our piano strings!
