Answer:	To be quite honest, I am not sure. A lot depends on the manufacturer's definition of "lifetime". I have several of the older type of can openers that are still working after 30 years. While I've had this one for only several months, I don't see how the "lifetime" of this type. The concept is similar with the exception of the angle of the cut. Due to the cut, it takes more pressure to turn the handle. Now you have my $0.02. A very positive point is that it allows me to use the removed top as a lid. This is especially helpful with cans of dog food. I personally am very happy with it.

Answer:	I have tried to open cans of several sizes and they can be opened without problems.

Answer:	I have had a swing-a-away can opener for over 30 years and it has never rusted. That said, I have never put it in the dishwasher, and I hand dry it immediately after hand washing. Answer:	The older Swing-A-Way opener (RED handle) was made in the USA and had "MADE IN USA" stamped into the metal of the opener. The newer one (BLACK handle) does not have the 'MADE IN USA" stamp. According to an email response from AMCO, most of their products are now made in China according to specifications and quality control set by AMCO. I have both the older one (made in USA) and the newer one. Although most likely made in China, the newer one appears to be of equal quality. I gave my old one to my son as he left for college and ordered the new one. I have used the new one for about 18 months on a regular basis and I believe that it works just as well as the older one ever did and I expect it to last just as long. The old one was probably 15 yrs old when I sent it with my son.

Question:	Does the can itself have a sharp edge after opening? I have a dog who likes to carry off the empty cat food cans to lick out and stash
Answer:	I originally thought this didn't actually cut the can, but it does. However, the edge isn't ragged like a normal can opener, and I've not had an issue with cutting myself on it. Gotta say I haven't attempted it, nor licked the can as your pup would. But it may be a better alternative. The cut edge is smooth and straight up, not pointing in to the can.
