While we are proud of our recent history, there is a backstory. So travel with us to the small town of South Pittsburg, Tennessee at the end of the 19th Century. Nestled at the base of the Appalachian Mountain’s Cumberland Plateau and on the banks of the Tennessee River, the town was abuzz with new opportunities.
In 1896 Joseph Lodge began a cast iron foundry, named in honor of his minister, Rev. Joseph Hayden Blacklock. Family owned, our origins were humble and our products varied, from stoves, to skillets and kitchen sinks.
As each decade passed, Lodge developed a business model to continually update and improve equipment and foundry practices. Work was labor intensive, with all of our cookware poured and cleaned by hand.
The 1950s saw the installation new molding machinery, mechanized sand delivery systems, the construction of a gas fired aluminum furnace to cast patterns for the production of sand mold impressions and a machine to clean castings.
When the introduction of new cookware metals and coatings increased competition in the 1960s, Lodge countered with a Disamatic automatic molding machine. Two years later, Lodge added an electric furnace to operate the Disamatic molding and pouring system, outpacing the capacity of the coke-fired cupola, at lower cost.
The Clean Water and Air Acts of 1970 led American companies to install new equipment to meet the pollution control laws. Lodge accepted the standards by replacing the old electric furnaces and adding a second Disamatic molding machine.
Not only did the updates meet the requirements of the Clean Air and Water legislation, by 1976 our automated processes produced as many molds in an hour as one man’s daily productivity 30 years earlier.
With the switch from antiquated electric furnaces to more efficient induction furnaces, 1991 proved to be a pivotal juncture in the green standards of Lodge Manufacturing Company. The use of magnetic energy to produce heat changed our status from a Large Quantity Generator of Hazardous Waste to a Small Quantity Generator, and we received the 1994 Tennessee Governor’s Award for Excellence in Hazardous Waste Reduction.
Today, Lodge Manufacturing Company maintains a zero hazardous waste stream foundry, earning accolades from the environmental and manufacturing communities.

Answer: | Chandra, I don't know. However, I my wife and I got a set of Pro-Logics last year. The interior dimensions are: approx. 1/2" high X 4 1/2" wide X 2" deep. If you measure the handle on your wok you should be able to figure out it it'll work for you. Keep in mind 1) the Pro-Logic is silicone & thus will stretch a bit & 2) it's tapered so the width goes down to about 3 3/4" at the base. Hope this helped. |

Answer: | The preconditioned surface us ok but I sand all my pans down to raw metal then I coat them with organic flax seed oil and place in a500 degree oven upside down for 2 hours let it cool. Then I do it again at least 2 to3 more times. This bakes on a protective coating. Have a lot of lodge pans and griddles. Love them and they will serve you well for many years |

Answer: | Frankly, while I love Lodge cast iron, I was a little disappointed in the bristle brush. I would have preferred a brush with stiffer bristles that would more aggressively attack the stuck-on residue on the pots and skillets. |

Answer: | Remove it as soon as you put the pan in the oven. Then you can put it back on just prior to removing the pan from the oven. You must realize that it would get hot in the oven just like the pan. The up to 450 degrees is just saying not for use if the pan was heated beyond that temp. |

Answer: | I have an electric (coil) stove top. I leave mine on all the time. It doesn't get hot when I preheat the pan and it hasnt ever melted. I do take it off when I clean the pan and don't put it back on until the pan has thoroughly dried. I don't have drawers in my kitchen to store it in, but leaving it on hasn't caused any issues for me. |

Answer: | Depends on your pan. I use these on my enamel coated cast iron, the metal will ruin the finish. If you have roughed up cast iron, I would use metal/chain mail then season well. |

In 1896 Joseph Lodge began a cast iron foundry, named in honor of his minister, Rev. Joseph Hayden Blacklock. Family owned, our origins were humble and our products varied, from stoves, to skillets and kitchen sinks.
As each decade passed, Lodge developed a business model to continually update and improve equipment and foundry practices. Work was labor intensive, with all of our cookware poured and cleaned by hand.
The 1950s saw the installation new molding machinery, mechanized sand delivery systems, the construction of a gas fired aluminum furnace to cast patterns for the production of sand mold impressions and a machine to clean castings.
When the introduction of new cookware metals and coatings increased competition in the 1960s, Lodge countered with a Disamatic automatic molding machine. Two years later, Lodge added an electric furnace to operate the Disamatic molding and pouring system, outpacing the capacity of the coke-fired cupola, at lower cost.
The Clean Water and Air Acts of 1970 led American companies to install new equipment to meet the pollution control laws. Lodge accepted the standards by replacing the old electric furnaces and adding a second Disamatic molding machine.
Not only did the updates meet the requirements of the Clean Air and Water legislation, by 1976 our automated processes produced as many molds in an hour as one man’s daily productivity 30 years earlier.
With the switch from antiquated electric furnaces to environmentally sound induction furnaces, 1991 proved to be a pivotal juncture in the standards of Lodge Manufacturing Company. The use of magnetic energy to produce heat changed our status from a Large Quantity Generator of Hazardous Waste to a Small Quantity Generator, and we received the 1994 Tennessee Governor’s Award for Excellence in Hazardous Waste Reduction.
Today, Lodge Manufacturing Company maintains a zero hazardous waste stream foundry, earning accolades from the environmental and manufacturing communities.
Eleven years after in the introduction of seasoned cast iron cookware, Lodge broke ground for our foundry expansion. With completion of the first phase in the fall of 2014, the expansion includes a new melt system, an additional pouring/molding line and most importantly—new American jobs!

Answer: | They are rated up to 450 degrees, but I never leave them on in the oven. I think you would still need potholders to pick up the pan. These are excellent for stove top cooking. |

Answer: | I am not sure, as I only own the 12 inch pan, but I would think that handle part would be the same size for Lodge pans. The widest part fitting against the pan is 5 1/2". If that is what you pan measures, it should fit. |
