11 best place setting for 8

Setting a table for 8 involves arranging dinnerware, flatware, and glassware in a visually appealing and organized manner to create an inviting dining experience. Here's a guide on how to set a place setting for 8:

1. Dinner Plates:

  • Place the dinner plates in the center of each setting. These are typically the largest plates and serve as the base for the meal.

2. Salad or Appetizer Plates:

  • If you're serving multiple courses, place smaller salad or appetizer plates on top of the dinner plates.

3. Napkins:

  • Fold cloth napkins neatly and place them on the dinner plates or to the left of the plate. You can also use napkin rings or creative folding techniques for an elegant touch.

4. Forks:

  • Set forks to the left of the plates. The dinner fork goes closest to the plate, followed by the salad fork (if needed).

5. Knives and Spoons:

  • Place knives and spoons to the right of the plates. The dinner knife should be closest to the plate, followed by the soup spoon (if needed), and then the dessert spoon or fork.

6. Glassware:

  • Arrange glasses to the right of the flatware. For a formal setting, place a water glass, a white wine glass, and a red wine glass in a diagonal line. For a more casual setting, use just a water glass.

7. Bread Plates and Butter Knives (if needed):

  • If you're serving bread, set a small bread plate to the top left of the dinner plate and place a butter knife diagonally across it.

8. Dessert Utensils (if needed):

  • If you plan to serve dessert later in the meal, you can place dessert forks or spoons horizontally above the dinner plate.

9. Place Cards (optional):

  • If you have specific seating arrangements, you can use place cards to indicate where each guest should sit. Place these above the dinner plates or on the napkins.

10. Centerpiece (optional): - Add a centerpiece or decorative elements in the center of the table to enhance the overall ambiance. Just make sure it's not too tall, so guests can see each other across the table.

11. Tablecloth or Placemats (optional): - Depending on your preference and the formality of the occasion, you can use a tablecloth or placemats to protect the table and add style to the setting.

Remember to adjust the settings based on the specific dishes you are serving and the formality of the occasion. The key is to create a balanced and aesthetically pleasing table setting that enhances the dining experience for your guests.

User questions & answers

Question: Can I purchase tea spoons Separately
Answer: I don't know if they are available to purchase anywhere on Amazon, if not; Ginkgo International has a website and I believe you can purchase them there.
Question: Where are they made
Answer: China
Question: what is
Answer: Here's an answer from a food service website:The numbers "18/10" and "18/0" are simply figures that illustrate the amount of chromium and nickel content present in stainless steel. Chromium, or chrome, is a tough white metal, used in stainless steel and other alloys, because of how hard it is and its stain-resistant propertiesNickel is a corrosion-resistant silvery-white metal, often used for its shine to coat other metals 18/10 stainless steel contains 18% chromium and 10% nickel content.18/0 stainless steel contains 18% chromium and 0% nickel matter.Understand the differenceSo, one has nickel and the other doesn't? What's the real difference? Two of the main differences you'll notice between 18/10 and 18/0 flatware is the luster and economic value.Chromium and nickel both contain stain-resistant properties. Chromium, by itself, is not a reliable rust-resistant material. Combined with nickel, it takes on more hard-wearing properties. The combination of nickel also creates a brighter, polished look. Because of this, 18/10 products generally cost more. With or without nickel, stainless steel is a highly durable flatware material. The soft sheen and economic value of 18/0 products is an excellent choice for casual restaurants and many high-volume eateries. Overall, we recommend evaluating your business needs and how often the products are going to be used before deciding which chrome/nickel combination is right for you. - See more at: http://www.foodservicewarehouse.com/education/understanding-restaurant-equipment-and-supplies/commercial-flatware-buying-guide/differences-between-1810-and-180-stainless-steel-flatware-fsw/c27835.aspx#sthash.lcoFOOUg.dpuf
Question: Is there a design on the handle or is that a shadow. I'm looking for silverware that is plain and smooth all over. Thanks
Answer: There is no design on the handle. It's smooth and feels really good in your hand. I bought this set last year to use for everyday and I've been happy with the quality.

Ginkgo International Ltd.

About Us:

Ginkgo International Ltd. was founded in 1977 by Wes and Janet Helmick. Their goal was to bring to the market original, quality flatware designs at the best possible price. Now a second generation family business, Ginkgo continues to offer consumers the highest quality flatware and cutlery products at the best possible value.

Ginkgo Design:

We have a pattern and look for everyone. We offer a wide array of aesthetics to complement every table top and decor. All flatware patterns we manufacturer are made of 18/0 or 18/10 Stainless Steel . We offer a range of finishes as well; All Satin, Hammered, Mirror, and the extremely polished Full Mirror. No matter your taste, we have the flatware that you will want to use every day for the rest of your life. For over 35 years, Ginkgo has been designing quality products to please even the most discerning customer.

Differences in Steel

In metallurgy, stainless steel is defined as a steel alloy with a minimum of 11.5% chromium content by mass. Stainless steel does not stain, corrode or rust as easily as ordinary steel (it 'stains less'), but it is not stain-proof. For example, mayonnaise left on a knife blade in the sink seems to stain the blade a darker color.

There are different grades and surface finishes of stainless steel to suit the environment to which the material will be subjected in its lifetime. Stainless steels have sufficient amount of chromium present so that a passive film of chromium oxide forms which prevents further corrosion. Stainless steel's resistance to corrosion and staining, low maintenance, and affordability make it an ideal base material for a host of commercial applications including flatware.

There are different types of stainless steels: when nickel is added, the austenite structure of iron is stabilized. This crystal structure makes such steels non-magnetic and less brittle at low temperatures. For greater hardness and strength, carbon is added. When subjected to adequate heat treatment, these steels are used as razor blades, cutlery, flatware, etc. A typical composition of 18% chromium and 8% nickel, commonly known as 18/8 stainless, is often used in flatware. 18/8 has approximately 18% chromium, and from 8-10 percent nickel. The nomenclature 18/8, and 18/10 are sometimes both used to represent the same type steel. 18/0 has 18 percent chromium, and no nickel. This common steel is often used in flatware sets as it combines the stain resistant elements of 18/8 at a lower cost. In recent years the price of nickel has increased by tenfold.

Care

Most stainless steel spoons and forks are marked with their steel chemistry; usually 18/0, 18/8, or 18/10. All of these compositions should give you years of use with limited maintenance. If you notice discoloring, or small oxidation marks on your stainless, it can usually be cleaned off with hot soapy water, and a sponge. If that doesn’t so the trick, use a good quality stainless polish. Often, a rust spot on your flatware is not the flatware itself, but a dissimilar steel peeler or other item leaning against it in the dishwasher. There are many unique finishes available on flatware these days. The most durable and stain resistant is a high gloss mirror finish. A smooth mirror finish leaves little for oxidizing agents to attack. Satin finish (also known as brushed) breaks the surface of the steel, so it is more prone to staining. However, satin finishes, like on our Norse pattern, can be revitalized simple by scrubbing (in the direction of the 'grain') with a scotch-brite pad, or very fine steel wool. This cleans off the surface, and adds more micro scratches. Don’t try and scrub a frosted (also known as sand blast, or bead blast) finish, such as Pendulum. Just use a good stainless polish and a soft cloth.

Lafayette : Our Most Popular Pattern

Back in the 15th and 16th century colonial period, silver tableware was made from silver coins, since our country did not have any silver mines at this time. The coins were melted down, shaped, and hammered to their final form. Lafayette is a beautiful rendition of the hand hammered flatware of the colonial period. If a rustic, hammered look is what you're going for, look no further than Lafayette pattern. With its hammered finish and clean design, the Lafayette pattern is ready for everyday use. From kids to your most distinguished guests, the Lafayette collection is sure to please. The handles taper from a slender neck to a rounded tab end which lifts up off the table. The spoon bowls are squared off for a contemporary look, the forks feature extra-long tines, and the knife is constructed of one solid piece. We offer this pattern in a variety of ways; Set of 20, Set of 42, 5-piece place setting, 4-piece hostess set. All pieces are made from 18/0 stainless steel and are dishwasher safe. Designed by founder Wes Helmick.

User questions & answers

Question: How many oz does the bowl hold
Answer: Kyocera serrated ceramic knives cannot be sharpened as the sharpening of the edge would remove the micro-serrated feature of this knife.
Question: How do these plates fit into the dishwasher? Will the tall lip make it awkward to load in the dishwasher
Answer: Several companies make plastic kitchen knife blade covers for your cutlery. You can purchase most of them on Amazon. "Ultimate Edge" and "Messermeister" sells single knife blade covers, or sets of covers for different size blades. I purchased different sets and use these covers on all of my kitchen knives that are stored in drawers. Just do a search for knife blade covers on Amazon. - OR - You may want to purchase a knife block to hold this ceramic knife, and more of your kitchen knives. Do a search for knife blocks on Amazon, and do a search for Kyocera knife block on Amazon. Kyocera makes a 3-slot Bamboo knife block for their knives that hangs on the wall.
Question: Are these dishes oven safe? We don’t own a microwave and use toaster oven instead
Answer: Not really. This knife is "micro-serrated" for thinner skins, like that of a tomato. The serrating may be a little small for a crusty bread.
Question: Are the plates heavy
Answer: Call Amazon
