Answer:	I can't tell you yes or no. I have only used it on meats. As a fisherman, I would get a good quality filleting knife over any electric knife. With a filleting knife you can feel where to glide it right next to the bones. I can't see how you can "feel" this with an electric knife.

Knives come from the factory with an edge, you can replicate that with a course steel. Or you can get a machine or butcher eg. Do a quick YouTube search on how butchers keep knives sharp. They the boss when it comes to blades. A fine steel will maintain an already good edge nicely, I will use a fine steel for my knives like a good Carpenter will give a quick honing to his chisels every few uses. If you cannot do that Try getting a replacement from the Hamilton Beach distributor/Manufacturer at 1-800-851-8900.I had a Hamilton Beach Model 742100, SN A3969J, Type EK04. The knife was old and started being difficult to switch on and then quickly quit altogether. I disassembled it and the switch fell out on the bench in small broken plastic parts and one metal "Z" part which was the basic part of the Switch with one end seated inside the button. Based on my experience it is my opinion you are experiencing premature switch failure due to a broken plastic part which is partially blocking the switch button and if it has not failed already it probably will do so.The Cuisinart CEK 40 works well for me but cannot be used on heavy bones or gristle. It has a manual lock on the switch to prevent you from turning it on accidentally when not in use and plugged in. The switch is very easy to use but you have to be very careful not to press the switch when you are holding the knife (with the lock off) and getting ready to slice the ham or roast. The blades are stainless steel and very very sharp and will cut your fingers in a heart beat experience taught me so.

Answer:	Sharpening serrated blades is not usually possible at home. If your knife is still working, get new blades. If it is VERY old get a complete new set. Also, avoid using the blades on bone. That will dull them. Use a boning knife to slice meat fom the bone

Answer:	Not sure where batteries are made. No it is not variable speed. The odds of running it constant is highly unlikely. But at a pretty steady pace I can go thru over 100 crappie and not change out the battery. Battery life was one of my main concerns. But not any more. I'm positive that if you run one battery down you can have it charged before you run the second one down. And at that point you would probably welcome a break 2 batteries probably 3-4hr session. That's a lot of fish.

If you cannot do that Try getting a replacement from the Hamilton Beach distributor/Manufacturer at 1-800-851-8900.I had a Hamilton Beach Model 742100, SN A3969J, Type EK04. The knife was old and started being difficult to switch on and then quickly quit altogether. I disassembled it and the switch fell out on the bench in small broken plastic parts and one metal "Z" part which was the basic part of the Switch with one end seated inside the button. Based on my experience it is my opinion you are experiencing premature switch failure due to a broken plastic part which is partially blocking the switch button and if it has not failed already it probably will do so.The Cuisinart CEK 40 works well for me but cannot be used on heavy bones or gristle. It has a manual lock on the switch to prevent you from turning it on accidentally when not in use and plugged in. The switch is very easy to use but you have to be very careful not to press the switch when you are holding the knife (with the lock off) and getting ready to slice the ham or roast. The blades are stainless steel and very very sharp and will cut your fingers in a heart beat experience taught me so.
Question:	I don't see an extension cord in the back of this. Is this a rechargeable knife
Answer:	An electric sharpener should never be used to cut bread. It should ONLY be used to sharpen blades.
Question:	Does this work with a cord or a battery? The picture doesn't show a cord and the description doesn't say
Answer:	Sharpening serrated blades is not usually possible at home. If your knife is still working, get new blades. If it is VERY old get a complete new set. Also, avoid using the blades on bone. That will dull them. Use a boning knife to slice meat fom the bone

Answer:	It might, but I have only used it on roast meats, ham, bread, angel food cake,all of which it cuts through with no problem

Answer:	No its for cutting meat....

Answer:	No. Those problems are attributed more to human or operator error, not the electric knife itself, but you may want to place a yard stick or something with a straight edge on the foam while cutting to reduce ridged, wavy or jagged edges. OR, Amazon also sells electric heated cutters that can cut through foam AND styrofoam.
Question:	For this knife do you have to press button and hold while cutting or is there a power button pressed cutting continuously as needed to cut
Answer:	This knife is no good for crusty bread. I bought it to cut my home made sourdough. It just sits on the crust, the best you get is a scratch on the surface. If you force it through, the blade flexes and bends making it impossible to get a good slice.
