14 best ceramic knives
Ceramic knives are a cutting-edge addition to kitchen cutlery. Pun intended. These knives have blades made from a high-tech ceramic material, usually zirconium oxide, which is known for its hardness and durability. Here's the lowdown:
Sharpness: Ceramic knives are renowned for their sharpness. They can retain their edge for a longer time compared to traditional steel knives, which means less frequent sharpening.
Lightweight: The blades are incredibly light, making them easy to handle and reducing fatigue during prolonged use. This is particularly appreciated by home cooks and professional chefs alike.
Resistance to Stains and Rust: Ceramic blades are resistant to staining and rust, adding to their longevity and ease of maintenance. They won't corrode or tarnish like some metal knives might.
No Transfer of Odors or Flavors: Because of their non-porous nature, ceramic knives won't transfer odors or flavors between foods. You can chop garlic and then move on to slicing fruits without the worry of lingering smells or tastes.
Santoku and Asian Knives: Ceramic knives often come in styles like Santoku, which is a Japanese general-purpose knife, or other Asian-inspired designs. These knives are versatile and well-suited for various kitchen tasks.
However, it's worth noting that ceramic knives are more brittle than their steel counterparts, so they may chip or break if subjected to excessive force or used for tasks like cutting through bones. They're best for precision slicing and chopping of fruits, vegetables, and boneless meats.

User questions & answers
Question: | This 'chef's knife' looks identical to their Santoku knife... is it actually the exact same shape, or, might someone post how they really look |
Answer: | I don't used them on any frozen food. I have used the ceramic knives to cut cheese, but steel knives seem to do that job better. |
Question: | can you wash them in a dishwasher |
Answer: | no chips. only problem i had is when a house guest tried to cut a frozen corn cob and a piece of the knife broke off. I myself broke a piece off one by cutting into a chicken thigh bone. They aren't flexible blades, so slicing is their specialty. |
Question: | Instructions say "Use traditional knives for cutting frozen food and cheese." Do they mean frozen cheese too or just regular soft cheese? Not clear |
Answer: | Sharpen against a diamond stone. |
Question: | Chips in ceramic blades |
Answer: | Yes they are! Had them for a few months, and use them almost daily with a dishwasher cleaning afterwards. They are a great quality and are also pretty to look at! :) |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I replace a knife that I broke |
Answer: | I'm not sure but it works good |
Question: | I broke the 6" chef knife, completely my fault. I just need a link to order this knife alone |
Answer: | Do NOT use normal knife sharpeners especially the powered grinding wheel type they will shatter the knife. Ceramic blades are sharpened by grinding the edges with a diamond-dust-coated grinding wheel, The Only way you can sharpen Zirconia Ceramic Knives is if you happen to have a glass bevel polisher, A flat metal wheel coated with diamond-dust laying on its side with a angle guide you hold the side of the knife against, I have tried other polishing compounds NONE are hard enough to polish Zirconia Ceramic knives. Diamond Files are too coarse to sharpen Zirconia Ceramic knives; they chip the edge of the blade and it is too difficult to get the proper angle using Diamond Files. |
Question: | Is the peeler also ceramic |
Answer: | The non slip mat is made of premium EVA, BPA free and odorless, safe to be used any where you like. |
Question: | How do you sharpen them |
Answer: | The plastic liner is widely used in wire shelves in my house as it can be easily cut into any size and shape. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Country of origin |
Answer: | the box says 'Made in China, Blade manufctured in Japan'. |
Question: | Where is the knife made in? Is only parts of it made in Japan? Thanks |
Answer: | I really don't know where it is actually made. The address to where I sent my knife for repair (they replaced it with a brand new one) is in Costa Mesa, California, USA. The name of the company is Kyocera Tycom Corporation and it appears they have offices globally. All I know is that the knife is very WELL made, and if I were to guess, I would guess it is made here in the good old US of A. |
Question: | If these are dropped on a tile floor, will they chip or crack? Seems these knives need alot of care |
Answer: | Yes they’ll break and chip if you drop it. I’ve done both but bought more because they’re such good knives especially for vegetables. |
Question: | What is difference between white and black blade |
Answer: | According to Kyocera's website:What is the difference between a black-HIP blade and a white blade?A black (HIP) blade is made out of a black zirconium oxide and offers extra durability. This type of blade goes through an extra firing process called a "hot-isostatic press," creating a tighter weave between the ceramic molecules, thus creating a tougher blade. The white ceramic blade is also made out of zirconium oxide but does not go through this expensive sintering process. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these ceramic blades |
Answer: | It may be I never cut corn husks ease, if I was you go bigger |
Question: | Is this cleaver big enough to cut corn husks with ease? Or do I need something bigger and heavier |
Answer: | I have 2 of these knives, one has a 3 and one half inch blade (I think it is the paring knife). We use this knife every day. The other has a seven inch long blade. It does not look like the knife in this photo, as the blade is 2 inches wide by seven inches long. I think the utility knife you are asking about is a different knife. |
Question: | On any knife length, what is the length of the blade only |
Answer: | For whatever it's worth to you: The handle feels light weight and you can see no metal edge along the top or bottom of it so my guess is that the metal blade does not extend far into the handle. That said, we have had our set of three sizes of these knives for over a year and while they don't necessarily get daily use, we have had no problems with the blades breaking, bending or coming loose. |
Question: | Does this knife have a full tang blade, or will the blade break off of the handle like my last Farberware knives |
Answer: | They count the covers as pieces , but there are only 6 knives |
