Answer: You sharpen this knife just like any other 'smooth' edge knife. Whetstone, Diamond steel, ceramic sticks, etc. To touch up the 'sharpened edge' , use a butchers steel rod.

Answer: It was made in China, but so far I have been very impressed with the quality, as well as the sharp edge. I have used it primarily for meat I cook on my smoker and the Thanksgiving turkey. So far the knife seems to hold its edge well and I have not yet had to sharpen it. I definitely recommend it as a very good buy.

Answer: I have never tried that particular feat, I mainly use on briskets and roasts, but I think this would be an ideal knife for that work. Mine was good and sharp out of the box and a few strokes with a steel every hundred slices or so seems to be keeping it "fresh". It is a bit more flexible than I had expected so try not to twist (perpendicular to the slice) the cut as you slice. Highly recommended as with every (6) Mercer knives I have used.

Answer: I've used my Wicked Edge Pro Pack 1 (plus the 1500/2200 grit 'stones') to successfully sharpen the Shun knives I have without issue. The setup is NOT cheap, but it does a superb job on everything. I set the angle to 16 degrees and just keep going until it's razor sharp (again). I picked up the Wicked Edge Pro Pack and additional stones on Amazon.

Question: Will the cutluxe carving knife require sharpening after many uses? if so, how
Answer: Hello, sorry for my delayed response my email has been down. As for your question, this knife holds an edge very well even after many uses. That said, ALL knives must be maintained on a hone, I prefer a ceramic hone to a metal one and I recommend the one by Mercer. You can see how to properly use it on many YouTube videos. It doesn’t sharpen the blade per say but it straightens the micro edge which is why a knife can feel dull. Every time you use a knife you fold over that thin micro edge and it must be straightened again with a hone. If you do this regularly, you should not need to sharpen your knives on a stone very often and they should stay sharp for years. All knives, no matter the brand or price, require this maintenance in order to stay true and sharp. Once you get use to using a hone it becomes second nature, it’s quite easy.
