Answer:	4.25" So, your 2.5" tea infuser should fit. Something about this idea doesn't sit well with me: steeping tea in the hot water kettle. I'd want to use two separate vessels, to keep the hot water pure. And, personally, I'd prefer glass or ceramic over stainless steel for steeping.
