Answer:	Because of the edge on the bottom of the teapot it does not make contact with a glass stovetop. Therefore it does not get hot fast at all.

Answer:	Hi Mindi. I have not had a problem with mine whistling. I'm wondering, since it was boiling over, perhaps there was too much water, and the water boiling out of the spout prevented it from whistling. I think I mighttry it with a smaller volume of water to see if the steam will rise to whistle. If not, I believe I would exchange it for a new one.
