Answer:	Wow! Never heard of this. First suggestion: Clean the pot with water and vinegar. Experts disagree on the ratio of water and vinegar. Some say equal parts. Some encourage a 2 or 3:1 ratio; two to three parts water to one part vinegar. Whatever ratio you decide to use, shut the pot off partway through the cycle for about 30 minutes and let the solution set. After the cycle is complete, run another cycle of water. Hopefully this will remove any taste in the tubes or other parts of the coffee pot. Also note your water supply. Any changes there? Consider your coffee. Is this a new can of coffee? If, after cleaning, you are still having problems, call Cuisinart. They were very helpful when we had a problem with our first machine. Wishing you the best in resolving this problem.

Answer:	Different causes for this symptom. If water is leaking over the edge of the coffee basket instead of draining through the basket and/or filter, the basket may need a gentle fine wire-brush cleaning or the filter may need to be replaced.If there is no leakage over the rim of the basket, 3 things:1. The basket valve on the bottom is not opening and the auto-shutoff stops operation - fixes are a) ensure the carafe has the top on and is put directly below the basket so that the valve is opened by the carafe-top, b) either the electronic components of the auto-shutoff have failed or the mechanical components of the auto-shutoff have failed. Test the basket's mechanical auto-shutoff by filling the basket with water and putting the empty pot (with top on) under it to open the auto-shutoff valve - all the water in the basket should drain. 2. The charcoal filter in the water reservoir is blocking water flow, - test with a normal load of water without any coffee but take the charcoal filer out.3. Water tunnels between the water reservoir and the basket are blocked (sediment, etc.). If the above doesn't clear the problem, try the manufacturer's cleaning recommendations - especially if your water source results in sediment stains (commonly seen in toilet bowls) which can block the water tunnels over time.If the electronic circuit board is failing there is no fix other than replacement.

The 30 minute unplug fix worked for a couple weeks until the coffee pot hot plate base turned itself on this evening when I was in the next room, smelled that awful electrical burning smell, looked all over then saw the empty carafe cracked and singed and the hot plate burning away. Answer:	The filters are stainless steel, and the holder is aluminum, with a plastic handle. This unit is a pump machine which doesn't use a boiler.

Answer:	Controls yes, but there is no temperature adjustment. This only has a single thermoblock heater.
Question:	Do you need to tamper the coffee or is it like xp
Answer:	I personally tamp the coffee “lightly”, however, the directions say not to. If you tamp too much the Espresso will not come out the holes. I am not familiar with the other model xp5240 so I don’t know how that one works.

Answer:	Only happens if you don't cycle with clear water and no coffee a couple of times after the cleaning cycle.

Answer:	1 kit or box has 2 packets + a test strip for water hardness. Each packet is for 1 descaling. Descale every 3 to 4 months depending on water hardness (I filter my water). White vinegar & water will also work as a descaler. Check the internet for how to.

Answer:	My particular coffee machine KRUPS KM9008 recommends mixing powder with 16 ounces of water,pouring into the water fill tank,and starting the machine. Be sure to remove filter first,if your machine has one! .Allow half of the liquid to run through,then switch off machine and let stand for 1 hour.then restart machine to complete the brewing cycle.Discard liquid and rinse machine by running it through 2 full cycles with water only.

Answer:	There are only two packages in this box and I ended up using half a package of the crystals at a time, getting four uses out of the box. I did purchase another item that comes in a three pack with four packets in each for a total of 12 uses by Urnex Dezcal for about the same price. Just received them and have not tried them, but the Krups worked very well and if these do not work as well, I will purchase the Krups again. I have fairly hard water and need to use the product more frequently than most do. There are no instructions with it, but another poster had suggested dissolving the crystals in half a pot of water, pour in coffee maker, let it begin to filter through, turn off the coffee maker and let it sit for about 20 minutes and then turn on again. That worked very well, and then run a couple of pots using just plain water to completely clean the unit before brewing a pot of coffee.

Answer:	There is a channel in the maker that passes grinds from the grinder to the filter. Instructions say to clean it out from time to time; you might try that - some grinds may have gotten caked and are blocking new grinds’ passage. However, mine did the same thing, and I never was able to get it to work, despite repeated cleanings. Better luck to you!

Answer:	This is a classical example of Amazon's unreliable reviewing. The reviews are indiscriminately about two different products. One is 11.6 inches tall, the other is 13 inches tall. One (or both) is getting bad reviews for things like static discharge in the plastic grounds collector. I came here intending to buy a burr grinder and interested in buying a grinder/percolator. After wading through Amazon's useless reviews, I'm buying neither. Off to Target, where I can get comparable prices and reliable information.

Step One

Simply fill the bottom chamber with water up to the bottom of the safety valve

Question:	I have one of these but haven't used it much. Quick question. Most of the water flashes to steam, barely get a half cup out of 4-cups water. ideas
Answer:	Simple answer. Just assume that you will lose some of the water to steam. If you want to end up with two shots of espresso, put in 1 1/2 to 2 cups of water as indicated by markings on the glass. It's a trial and error thing. But it's a GREAT product. Mine stopped working after about 10 years, so was delighted to find it's still made. I gave up on the frother which gets clogged over time, just use an inexpensive battery operated frother from Bed Bath and Beyond.

Answer:	9 inches deep, plus 3inches if carafe handle points forward, 10.5 knches tall, 11 inches wide including coffee receptacle handle. They don't make this model anymore so buy it now because the newer version is not as good or sturdy. This is my second mini and I also owned the newer model.
