User questions & answers
Question: | In the manual, I can't see any reference to paper filters. Can I use a paper filter instead of the gold mesh filter that comes with the machine |
Answer: | It expired... I ordered several and they only had 3 months left before expiring. I was disappointed they had a very short shelf life |
Question: | Is the water tank plastic of stainless on this? If its plastic, does anyone know of a coffee maker that is made of stainless |
Answer: | Not sure of question. Every package date changes. Best by this date just means if not opened, flavor may change a little after that date. |
Question: | Are the glass and thermal carafe usable in the same machine |
Answer: | Never had this problem with the product. Strongly suggest you return it for refund or replacement. Sounds like something was in the mix that should not have been there. |
Question: | Does this coffee maker allow you to brew, say 2 cups, when the water reservoir and bean bin are full? Or do you have to fill both to match the number |
Answer: | It depends on the size of the pan that you use. There are 4 individual bags inside this big box and each bag can make approx 20 brownies - so you could make about 80 brownies using an 8x8 or 9x9 pan. Hope that helps. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you easily access the water tank for refill without having to move the whole unit? Is the access from the side or back |
Answer: | We found that it was easier to just use a pitcher to fill the tank rather than remove the tank or move the unit. |
Question: | Why is there a Prop 65 warning on this product? What part of the machine does the warning pertain to |
Answer: | This item does not have a Prop 65 Warning. For more questions contact customer service at 800-767-3554. |
Question: | How often do you need to clean the grounds between the grinder and the filter? Does it ever plug |
Answer: | Our first machine was defective and we pretty much had to clean it daily. We later found out the bean hopper/grinder were defective. Jura replaced the machine after several calls and troubleshooting sessions over the phone. We were at our wits end and nearing the 6 month warranty period. The second machine they sent us would grind a full container of beans when we set the timer and the water reservoir leaked BAD... water would literally RUN out of the bottom when we were filling it, we had to hold a rag underneath after filling so water didn’t drip all across our floor because the machine isn’t near my sink. Jura wouldn’t send a replacement initially because they said “we were past the 6 month warranty period”. I said waaaiiit a minute, you guys just sent me this machine as a replacement for my defective not even TWO months ago!! She replies, we go by the original purchase date. I told her that it hasn’t even been 8 months since our ‘original purchase’ I’d you guys aren’t going to stand behind your product then send me my money back! She put me on hold to confer with a coworker... a few minutes later she comes back, they are sending me a new machine with a return label to send the SECOND defective machine back. Now on our third machine and they are sending us our THIRD water reservoir because they leak sooo bad when filling it. The last time the customer service rep told me that if this reservoir leaked that I would need to send the machine in to have them check it. I told her if that happens we will be demanding our money back and go back to what we had before and grind our own beans because the Jura is not worth the hassle if they aren’t going to stand behind their products. |
Question: | Where is it made? What parts are plastic |
Answer: | I don't know where Capresso manufactures, call them in NJ and they can answer that for you. The coffee pot handle and lid are plastic. The bean holder lid is plastic and the water container is plastic. The basket is plastic. All BPA free. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Could i put a k-cup in this? Or would i be able to dump one in it and it do ok |
Answer: | You cannot put a k-cup in this. I have never dump a k-cup in it so I cannot tell how it would do. |
Question: | If you don't use the clock, can this coffee maker be operated without any vision? Is the on/off switch a physical switch/button, not a touch panel |
Answer: | The on/off switch is a button located on the right side of the coffee pot. The clock switch is on the left of the pot. Both buttons make a clicking sound when they are pressed and both can be operated independently of the other. I don’t use the clock feature, either, and since I am an early riser, I usually turn the pot on when there is very little to no light in the room. Hope this answers your question. |
Question: | What are the dimensions of this coffee maker? I want it for my camper and it has to fit into a small cabinet |
Answer: | App. 10-1/4” tall; depth 8”; width 6-1/2”, without carafe sitting in coffee pot. Handle protrudes beyond the unit. |
Question: | can I use paper filters? If so, what size |
Answer: | Yes. I buy Melitta filters for 4-cup coffee makers. (Package also states, for 4-6 cup coffee makers.) 200 filters come in a pack. The larger Target stores by me sell this size, and they fit perfectly in the Capresso 5-cup coffee maker. (Target also sells the larger size Melitta filters for larger coffee makers.} |

Product description
. Watts/Volts/Hertz: 100W/120V/60HzFor grinding larger quantities of coffee beans for a coffee-drinking crowd, Capresso's commercial-grade Infinity grinder handles 8-1/2 ounces of beans at a time. Sixteen different settings--four each in the four categories of extra fine, fine, regular, and coarse--let you adjust the grind to the specific blend of coffee and method of brewing. The finest setting is ideal for preparing Turkish coffee, which is a rare feature to find in a grinder. A built-in timer sets the grind for anywhere between 5 and 60 seconds so you can walk away without having to constantly press a button to continue the grinding process. The Infinity has an advanced conical burr design made of steel that is usually only found on commercial grinders. This burr design slows down the gears and reduces the amount of friction and heat to preserve coffee's flavor and aroma. The coffee container holds up to 4 ounces of grounds and remains sealed during grinding. For safety, the bean container also needs to be locked into place for the Infinity to operate. For easy cleaning, the bean container and upper burr lift off so you can clean the grinding chamber with the included brush and wipe down the heavy-duty zinc die-cast housing. The 100-watt burr grinder measures 7-2/3 by 5-2/5 by 10-4/5 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this grind fine enough for a Rancilio Silvia espresso machine? I had a $300 grinder that didn't |
Answer: | It has an adjustable setting from fine to Course. Not sure how fine Turkish coffee is, but there are multiple settings |
Question: | I want to grind for a french press: coarse grind....for 3 cups of coffee @ 10 oz for each cup...what do I set the timer for?? Please help |
Answer: | 120 |
Question: | Our Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinder is jammed. The top burr grinder (the circular piece, with three "spokes" on the outside, that drops into the main body) won't come out and the top coffee holder won't twist into the unit. We have tried to jimmy out the top grinder with a table knife, but to no avail. Any id |
Answer: | Maybe this can help you, I hope I can be of help... Sincerely ... https://www.amazon.com/KRUPS-GX550850-Precision-Espresso-PourOver/product-reviews/B07Q622YLB |
Question: | Should I buy the lighter weight black model or the heavier stainless steel model |
Answer: | This is a classical example of Amazon's unreliable reviewing. The reviews are indiscriminately about two different products. One is 11.6 inches tall, the other is 13 inches tall. One (or both) is getting bad reviews for things like static discharge in the plastic grounds collector. I came here intending to buy a burr grinder and interested in buying a grinder/percolator. After wading through Amazon's useless reviews, I'm buying neither. Off to Target, where I can get comparable prices and reliable information. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does the handle have a single nozzle or a double nozzle |
Answer: | Double. You can make to espressos at the same time if you want. |
Question: | Ok dumb question of the day for you guys - does it make regular coffee |
Answer: | Well, define regular. This is an espresso machine, if you want a regular coffee, maybe you'd make the coffee with more water therefore less strong. |
Question: | Why do I always get a wet or soupy puck when making espresso? I have used fine and course grounds and it is still a soupy mess after each use |
Answer: | Use a burr grinder, not a blade grinder. Set on one of the fine settings to start with. Put 16 grams of ground beans (I use a medium roast) coffee in the portafilter, tamp to 60 lbs, rotate the tamper and tamp again. Good to go, no soupy pucks for you! |
Question: | The instructions say to take apart and clean the steam wand after each use. This seems quite time consuming. What is everyone's experience with this |
Answer: | I don't use the frothing attachment, just the steam wand part, so I just wet sponge wipe off the wand after each use. Just takes a couple of seconds. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I wondr why one review says "no mess" and another says "messy no matter how careful I am." Can you clarify |
Answer: | I've had a number of burr grinders over the past 15 years. I have one of Capresso's older grinders at home. The 570.01 is in use at my office and it is by far the least messy, most efficient and quietest I've ever had. Highly recommended. |
Question: | Des it have an on switch that stays on until it completes grinding or do you have to hold it down |
Answer: | You don't have to hold it down. It stays on. You set a circular switch to a number—5, 6, 7, 8, o whatever— and it automatically grinds until it reaches the 0. Depending on the amount of beans, if there are still unground beans, you can set it to 1 again. |
Question: | They say it can grind Turkish, is that true? The last model could barely grind espresso |
Answer: | My wife is from Albania. I bought this grinder for her to make Turkish coffee and espresso. It is marginal for a Turkish grinder. The issue is the consistency of the size of the grounds. On the very finest setting, many grounds are as fine as powder, however there is great variance. At the bottom of the cup you will get many much larger flakes. It tastes good, but does not look great. The finest grind is even marginal for espresso. On a $2300 Clive A56 I can pull a good shot with 18 grams of beans, 94C, 9 bars, 30 second infusion, 55g out. If I could, I would grind finer and try to boost the crema and get the output down to 44g, however, I am already at the finest setting. I have tried regrinding the powder for Turkish to reduce the variance in the size of the grounds. That helps, but at that point, it might be faster to use a manual grinder. |
Question: | Is this grinder quiet |
Answer: | Compared to other grinders, this one is very quiet. |

User questions & answers
Question: | My thumb guard on the handle got broken, anyone know how I can order that part? It makes it hard to empty the basket |
Answer: | You use coffee beans ground specifically for espresso, which is finer than the grind you would use for regular coffee machines. But no, it does not take the pre-filled pods. You measure coffee grinds into the little basket. God bless! |
Question: | Does anyone know if the EC100 is a significant improvement over the EC50? If so, in what ways |
Answer: | I use a ground espresso cafe, no mix is needed. if you want to make a cappuccino, you are able to froth the milk with the steamer. |
Question: | How to clean E |
Answer: | It is just steam, not a bar system. For the price, this is a great little machine. My husband and I use it at least twice everyday. |
Question: | Does this machine have aluminium parts |
Answer: | Where else? China. |
Question: | can you use cappuccino pods with this machine or do you use coffee beans |
Answer: | Double. You can make to espressos at the same time if you want. |
Question: | What kind of cappuccino mix do I need to get for this machine? I don't drink cappuccino..this is a gift |
Answer: | Well, define regular. This is an espresso machine, if you want a regular coffee, maybe you'd make the coffee with more water therefore less strong. |
Question: | Is this espresso maker a "pump system |
Answer: | Use a burr grinder, not a blade grinder. Set on one of the fine settings to start with. Put 16 grams of ground beans (I use a medium roast) coffee in the portafilter, tamp to 60 lbs, rotate the tamper and tamp again. Good to go, no soupy pucks for you! |
Question: | Where is this machine made |
Answer: | I don't use the frothing attachment, just the steam wand part, so I just wet sponge wipe off the wand after each use. Just takes a couple of seconds. |
Question: | does the handle have a single nozzle or a double nozzle |
Answer: | it depends on the coffee you choose. you can buy non-espresso from Nespresso. But the amount of coffee is capped at a "small cup" because you can't fit a bigger cup in the machine. I stopped using it for anything other than heating water for a Starbucks Via (instant coffee). |
Question: | Ok dumb question of the day for you guys - does it make regular coffee |
Answer: | Yes. I use peets. Others brands sold at target and I purchase from amazon and directly from the site. So, yes u can use any brand capsules |
Question: | Why do I always get a wet or soupy puck when making espresso? I have used fine and course grounds and it is still a soupy mess after each use |
Answer: | Depend on the brand of coffee you will use, Nespresso Coffee make a wonderful crema. If you will use a reusable cap the crema is not so good. |
Question: | The instructions say to take apart and clean the steam wand after each use. This seems quite time consuming. What is everyone's experience with this |
Answer: | It' Italian for long, just means a larger cup of coffee with more water than a typical espresso |

Answer: | Yes |

Question: | Does it have a removable water tank |
Answer: | No it doesn't, however it has a changeable water filter. |
Question: | What is difference in 500 and 600 model |
Answer: | The 500 is the old model...600 replaced the 500 model. I had a 500 and replaced it with the 600, when I knocked it off my counter and it broke . The difference is, the neck of the carafe on the 600 is wider, making it easier to fill with water and clean. The inside of the 600 is stainless steel whereas the old model was alloy. The stainless steel keeps the coffee warmer. As far as the coffee, they both make equally good coffee. |

Question: | How long does it take to make a pot of coffee |
Answer: | I usually make 8 cups...this takes about 5-6 minutes. |
Question: | Does the coffee maker beep when done brewing |
Answer: | If it does I do not have it set to beep..It just stops making bubbling noise. This machine makes great coffee. |
Question: | Is this the same pot as SG |
Answer: | I do not know but my glass pot cracked as soon as I got it and I had an old Gevalia pot that works.. The coffee this machine makes is great. |
Question: | Does this have a cone shaped filter? Is it the same machine as the Sg |
Answer: | I have had the Capresso SG220 (Model #427.05) coffee maker for about a year and am very happy with it. The filters are the cupcake style, not the cone shaped. I wish, however, that it had a filter like my previous Capresso, but maybe that filter wasn't filtering as much as I had imagined anyway! |

User questions & answers
Question: | How quietly does this brew? I want to find a coffee pot that doesn't make a ton of Noise in the morning as I get up earlier than anyone else |
Answer: | I keep my percolator plugged in for up to 2 hr so it keeps it just as hot as when it was first perked. However, if you unplug it, it will eventually cool down. I don't know the time frame for that, though. The downside is that by keeping it plugged in after perking, you might forget to unplug it. By using a timer on the plug, that would be eliminated. I am retired so I am at home and I have had no problem remembering to unplug the unit. |
Question: | is there an automatic shut off |
Answer: | My 8 cup percolator actually holds about 36 oz water to reach the 8 cup marker. Thus each "cup" is 4.5 oz. With 12 oz mugs, you will only get 3 so you may want to consider their larger "12 cup" percolator. |
Question: | Hi - Is the carafe glass lined or stainless steel lined |
Answer: | I can't answer your question about the heating element, but because my husband's coffee of choice only comes in fine ground I HAVE to use a filter. However, instead of using discs, I purchase the unbleached cone filters and just tear a small hole in the bottom and slip it over the the basket stem. After that, I put the basket onto the long stem and fill with coffee. I haven't decided that I LOVE this percolator yet. We were using a vintage percolator from (I'm guessing) the 1950's which was new when I bought it on eBay - cloth covered cord, 6-cup capacity, the coffee basket was wider and therefore easier to fill. However, it was aluminum, which I didn't like one bit so it wasn't a complete disappointment when it died about a year later. I can tell you that I did a LOT of research before choosing the Capresso. I'm certainly not unhappy with it - I just with the basket was wider and I do not care for the spring on the boiling stem. The reviews about the lid being tight are absolutely correct - we just tighten it but do not tighten it all the way. Don't over rotate when you pour - even if you're down to the end of the pot - because the coffee will come out the lid. The pot is designed so that you'll get every delicious drop WITHOUT over rotating. We don't find the cord to be too short but the outlet is right where we want it to be. You definitely can plug in to an outlet 3' away. And finally, it does make a delicious cup of coffee! |
Question: | What the dimensions of the coffee maker |
Answer: | Never had this issue with this percolator. Sounds like a electrical overload in your kitchen wiring. Check with an electrician. My Capresso works fine every morning for past 3 months. |
Question: | Does the coffee stay HOT for the remailing cups |
Answer: | Mine is more of a dark gray color. |
Question: | To some manufactures 1 cup = 5 oz. Others 1 cup= 8 oz. So how many actual ounces does this pot hold? I perk coffee by my 12 ounce mugs |
Answer: | It is Jumbo, I too wonder but order and it was Jumbo. We own 5 of these Catit Jumbo's. On a side note open I find the Catit with the rim a very good value. |
Question: | Does the bottom (heating element) contain aluminum like the Presto? And does the basket fit filter discs |
Answer: | I always remove the door |
Question: | Had it for a month and it worked great but now it keeps blowing fuses. What can be done |
Answer: | It does have a swing door that swings both ways easily. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone tried a 20 oz steamer cup with this model |
Answer: | I hate this machine. Mine is already non-functional (when the pressure builds, the whole basket explodes spewing hot coffee mess everywhere). |
Question: | Where can you find replacement parts for the handle that holds the espresso? I'm looking for the black piece that sits under the sieve |
Answer: | I would like to post an update to my bashing this unit. I have modified mine by removing the little nozzle under the basket (you need to unscrew the three screws to get to it, it just pops out). This is the main reason for the soupy pucks, weak espresso, and excessive "foam" masquerading as crema. Now, I am pulling REALLY great shots using a blend of Bustelo gourmet (black vacuum packed) and La Rica (green and black vacuumed packed).Put one scoop of Bustelo in the bottom, and top it off with the La Rica, then a light tamp. You will pull the shot for around 25 seconds and have one of the best espresso shots from home on a machine under $500.I know, some of you are saying "you need to grind your own bean for freshness" ...trust me! Try this first, I was not able to get a good enough grind to suit this unit, and I am using a high dollar burr grinder. |
Question: | Are the baskets stainless steel |
Answer: | Hi, Margie. I purchased this as a gift, so I no longer have any of the paperwork. Here, however, is the site for the EC50 Instruction Manual: http://www.capresso.com/pdf/EC50IBEnglish.pdf. Hope this helps answer your question. Ginny13 |
Question: | I just want to make 1 cup of espresso but it comes out of both spouts. How do I turn 1 off |
Answer: | Yes, this machine has aluminum parts, however, the parts are not in direct contact with the coffee or its constituents |
