User questions & answers
Question: | What are the dimensions. Height, width, depth |
Answer: | No gears, it uses a flex drive shaft to turn the stirer so you dont have to fuss with the gears getting realigned! It is so easy to use, very smooth to stir. The only plastic part in the hole thing would be the handle/knob you use to turn, but it is not cheap plastic it is very sturdy. By far the best stove top popper i have ever seen! My favorite part is the magnetic lid lifting rod on it so when you pour your popcorn you dont have to hold the lid open! |
Question: | do i need to buy filters |
Answer: | No the salt is added after just like butter at the movie theater First turn on let warm for five mins, then add oil then add kernels After popping has finished add desired salt flavor |
Question: | I'm curious.. If I get the butane burner with this, how long does it take to brew the 2.5 cups or 600ml |
Answer: | Absolutely |
Question: | Does this come with the alcohol burner and filters |
Answer: | I have no idea. I am not a coffee drinker. |

Question: | What is the difference between this and the Technica, other than $29 more for this model |
Answer: | There's silicone rubber on the handle and the shape of the bulbs are a bit different. |
Question: | What is the difference between this model ("next") and the other Hario 5-cup coffee siphon("technica")? Is one model newer than the other |
Answer: | Have used Hario "Next" for 2 years on daily basis. I also use the TCA-5, TCA-3 as well. I myself found the Next is more logical in the whole machanism of water coming up and down. The conical shape of the upper funnel makes the descending of substance smoother and cleaner. The lower flat bottom flask also receives heat from a burner more evenly. At first the plastic handle was a deterrence for me but it works well for the past 2 years. Nothing comes off and it provides a firm grip of pouring the 600ml plus of hot coffee out safely. I love the Hario Next. (I didn't receive sponsor from Hario) |
Question: | Is this not a bong |
Answer: | No but you could probably make a great canna tea using your favorite strain. |
Question: | What reusable K-Cup fits this machine? Ordered what was suppose to fit and lid would not close |
Answer: | This is what I use instead of pre-filled pods. Two came with my machine when I bought it and I have since bought a few more. They are not cheap and are complicated to use, but do work once I got used to how to do it (but your guests never will unless they are very very frequent guests".) Copy and paste the entire title within the quote marks below into the Amazon search window. "Universal Reusable Coffee Filter Compatible with Keurig My K Cup 2.0 K300 K250 K350 K375 K400 K450 K475 Coffee Makers with Extra Filter Pod Cleaning Brush" |
Question: | Is the reservoir plastic or glass |
Answer: | The water well is plastic. If it were glass, it would be very heavy to fit onto the pump stand when full of water. |
Question: | Does it include a water filter? I see them in the pic but nowhere in the description or what’s in the box |
Answer: | It comes equipped for a filter, but doesn't come with the filter itself. You need to buy it separately. Another option is to use filtered water. |
Question: | does this take any make pod or do i have to use k-cup pods |
Answer: | I have used several types of pods, including Cameron, Trader Joe’s, and other without issue. They all seem to work just fine! |

User questions & answers
Question: | How many cup of coffe can you make with this Server Set |
Answer: | If you fill it to where it says 5, that is about 24oz, in Japan I suspect a serving is between 4 or 5 ounces, you could add a little more. I bought the Hario grinder also and together you can make a strong cup of coffee |
Question: | I am undecided between this set OR Hario V60 decanter OR just go with Hario stainless steel dripper on top of my mug. Does anybody has opinion |
Answer: | I has opinion! Often I will make a single cup without using the server - just direct to mug - which is great. Where this shines is being able to make coffee for both my wife and I on weekend mornings. If you're ever going to make two cups of coffee, this is so totally worth it. |
Question: | Is the coffee server included made of glass |
Answer: | The server is made of glass. But, why brew in plastic in the first place? This product is great! I only wish I got the V60 in glass also which they do make... I did not realize it was plastic. |
Question: | Hello. Is the dripper made of plastic or ceramic |
Answer: | Yes, it's plastic, but most professional baristas prefer the plastic because it doesn't absorb as much heat from the water; so the water that's going through the coffee is just a touch warmer than that which goes through on the ceramic version. So this is less expensive but actually better. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do you use regular sized ice cubes or does it need small ones |
Answer: | I just put mine in the door, but you don’t need to refrigerate this to make cold brew. You can brew on your counter. |
Question: | Do you have to use a Coffee Drip kettle, or can you use a regular kettle |
Answer: | Here are the instructions:Using coarse-ground coffee, fill the nylon filter basket until you've reached the top of the filter itself, leaving room at the top.Pour filtered, cold or room temperature water over the grounds.Leave to steep for 12-24 hours, less or more to taste. |
Question: | I've looked carefully, I think, but can't find how much iced coffee this makes. Can someone tell me please |
Answer: | We have both tea and coffee versions and they're awesome, I love the styling. The coffee version should work for both (the tea one would not). However, for tea (and coffee too) my husband and I find we want a bigger glass or multiple glasses and these wine bottle style only holds 2-3 glasses before you need to review. We've gone up to the Hario pitcher version (still glass but 1 or 1.2L vs 0.6L and footprint barely larger). If you wait the brew time, why not have a tad more. We're also totally hooked on picked camomile and mint leave cold brew, delicious! |
Question: | What many ml can this make? is this 600ml? or 900ml? it's not indicated in description |
Answer: | Yes, the filter is on the cap. |

Hario V60 Fretta Ice Coffee Maker
Product description
Hario's classic ceramic dripper ranks among the best. The Hario V60 is a cone pour-over brewer which has been specially designed to produce an evenly brewed cup of coffee. The V60 is one of the most popular manual coffee brewers on the market today. Why the cone shape? The cone shaped paper filter adds depth to the coffee layer, so that the water flows to the center, extending the amount of time it is in contact with the ground coffee. The brand recognized by Coffee Geeks worldwide.
- Durable, ceramic body retains heat to help ensure a constant temperature throughout the brewing cycle.
- Cone shape helps to better accentuate coffees with floral or fruit flavor notes.
- Spiral ribs allows for maximum coffee expansion.
- Large single hole can change coffee taste according to the speed of water flow.
- Designed and manufactured in Japan
User questions & answers
Question: | It says "user controls the flow." How does the user do that |
Answer: | The user is controlling the flow because he/she is pouring the hot water into the funnel (which contains the filter with coffee grounds in it) from a kettle. This is important and is the reason why the 'pour over' method of brewing coffee is best done using a kettle with a very small spout - more control. |
Question: | Can you use filters from other manufacturers such as Melita |
Answer: | It is also compatible with bonmac's #2 filters (http://www.intelligentsiacoffee.com/product/merchandise/hario-dripper-filters) and modified Melitta filters (http://www.amazon.com/Melitta-622712-White-Paper-Filter/dp/B000RUEGHQ). This is because the Hario is a true cone. Other drippers have a flattened basin. As one reviewer describes it, "great swapout is a #2 Melitta white cone filter, available in many grocery stores (note: oxygen whitened, not chlorine). You will need to put a fold into the Melitta. Set the filter on the counter and fold it at a right angle, using one tip of the cone base as the corner for forming the 90 degree angle. Put the filter into the dripper and open it. Don't feel compelled to flatten it out against the dripper. The raised ridges (fluting) of the Hario ensures that the filter doesn't hug the dripper wall, facilitating better flow." source: http://coffeegeek.com/reviews/drip/hariov60/BoldJava/5675Personally, I've not had a good experience attempting to use Melitta filters. The paper, even unbleached, is much thinner than that of the other two filter varieties and prone to breaking. Not a huge problem. Coffee can be strained or drunk with grounds in, but it is a tiny added frustration, so I've stick to Bonmac/Hario filters.Hario filters are the best price if you're comfortable purchasing them with frequency through Amazon, but Melitta are available in most local grocery stores. The Bonmac filters are often stocked at local coffee shops that utilize Hario drippers. |
Question: | You said that the size of the base is 3 3/4 inches, is that the very bottom (smaller part) of the base? Or the wider lip that rests on the rim |
Answer: | Very bottom (ring) is 2 and 1/2" o.d. (i.d. gives 2 and 1/8"); this is the part that sits in your cup. The base that rests on the cup is about 4 and 1/4". |
Question: | Is this ceramic lead free |
Answer: | i recently emailed “hario” about the v60 white ceramic dripper and whether or not it contains lead and they responded with this Thank you for contacting HARIO. We received your inquiry in regards to your question about the VDC-02W. VDC-02W is lead free. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you. Question: | What is the black handle made of? If it's plastic does the coffee touch it |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do you have to "brew" on the counter or can I throw it in the fridge right away |
Answer: | Designed for cold brew--put in fridge right away. |
Question: | How does this compare to the Toddy cold coffee brewer |
Answer: | Waaaaay easier, toddy took a simple thing, made it a gimick and sold it, this emersion method is way easier, I've done it now 2 months, did toddy method for 2 yrs. This is easy, I fill the basket 1/2 with grounds, then water to saturate, then stir; then fill the other half with grounds, and finish with the water, total of 8 full table spoons coffee to 1 qt watet. I wait about 12- 14 hrs |
Question: | This cold brew is not that strong at all. Is there any way to brew it in a way so it's stronger? Mine is very weak |
Answer: | The measurements recommended are not for those of us who like strong cold brew coffee. I personally use the Mizadushi with a 110grams of espresso roast or dark roast ground to a medium/coarse grind and left to brew for 18-24 hrs and that has made some pretty amazing cold brew for my tastes! For reference, I generally prefer Starbucks cold brew over just about any other because no one else I’ve found will make it as strong as Starbucks. However the cold brew I’ve made with this method has been even better, using a variety of beans for my brews. |
Question: | My instructions are only in Japanese. Where can I find English instructions |
Answer: | You can access the Japanese/English version here: http://www.hario.jp/pdf/MCPN-7%20Instruction%20Manual.pdfThis is for the 600ml cold brew, but the instructions are the same for all of the Hario cold brew coffee pots. This has both Japanese AND English instructions listed here. |
