Answer:	Danielle, not trying to sound silly but in our house they don't last long as they are used in all manner of dishes. I would think the shelf life is quite a while so long as you keep them air tight. I did a quick "google" and it appears dry leaves are best between 1 to 3 years. Sorry I can't be of more help.
Question:	How do you clean the water reservoir? I've only had this a few weeks & there's already build up in the bottom of the reservoir. Yuck

Answer:	Yes but if you are only making that cup just use it as a measuring cup when you put in the water to make sure it won't overfill. Also to note unlike most coffee makers this one does not have a pause feature to switch cups as it will just pour out when you remove the cup during brewing before it's done.
