Answer: I recommend preheating the oven before putting the loaf in the oven to bake. Otherwise the loaf will not bake evenly. It will be too dark on the outside before the inside is done.

Answer: Good morning,From what I remember, it's made from some sort of carbon steel. I've used it about 10 times already, and it's very easy to clean & is in the same condition from the 1st day I received it, it looks brand new. So it can really stand the test of time at this point. Answer: No, it is not easy to lift out when hot. I use silicone mitts and cannot get the insert out of the pan. It took 2 of us - me with a spatula trying to life from the corner, and my husband holding the other end steady. I will try to remove the meatloaf first next time. Other than this issue, it separates MOST, not all, of the fat from the loaf, and it cleans up easily. No sprays or greasing of the pan necessary.

Answer: If you are making a quick bread, you will have a batter consistency and the recipe will indicate the pan size for optimum results. When making yeast bread the size of the pan is determined by the amount of flour called for in the recipe. For example, a pan measuring 8 1/2" X 4 1/2" is used for a recipe calling for 3 to 3 1/2 cups of flour. A pan measuring 10" X 5" will be used for a recipe calling for 4 - 5 cups of flour. Using the wrong pan will affect the baking time and you many not get the results you had hoped for. This is an excellent brand of bread pans. I hope this helps you.

HOW TO MAKE A LOAF OF BREAD

1. Dissolve 1 package active dry yeast. Add 1 teaspoon salt, 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar, 1 tablespoon shortening, 1/2 cup milk and 3 cups all-purpose flour to it. Stir until everything is thoroughly combined. Begin adding more flour. Knead the dough for 7 minutes.

2. Place in a well-oiled bowl, and turn dough to coat. Cover with a damp cloth. Allow rising until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.

3. Preheat oven to 375 F.

4. Form the dough into a loaf and place into Sweese's 9×5 inch loaf pan. Score the risen dough by cutting three slashes across the top with a sharp knife.

5. Place it in the oven and bake for about 45 minutes or until golden brown. Cool, brush with butter and enjoy!

Answer: It is good for everything that you put in a loaf pan. I have used it for meatloaf and for banana bread. This is the best loaf pan I have used. Previously I owned 4 Pyrex for making bread and this is just as good and is unbreakable. And now at my age that is mportant. I have two of these pans and a muffin tin and I love them.

Answer: I believe Casaware is based in India. You can expect to pay two to three times as much for 'made in USA' cookware of this type, which I do for items I use a lot. For occasional use, I buy the cheaper pans like this one.
