12 best cuisinart dutch ovens

Cuisinart Dutch ovens are popular kitchen cookware items known for their durability, versatility, and performance in various cooking tasks. Here's what you should know about them:

  1. Material and Construction: Cuisinart Dutch ovens are typically made from cast iron. Cast iron provides excellent heat retention and distribution, ensuring even cooking. They are often coated with enamel, which not only adds to their aesthetic appeal but also makes them easy to clean and maintain. This enamel coating prevents rust and allows for a wide range of cooking techniques, including braising, roasting, baking, and frying.

  2. Sizes and Capacities: Cuisinart offers Dutch ovens in various sizes and capacities to suit different cooking needs. Common sizes include 3-quart, 5.5-quart, and 7-quart options.Smaller Dutch ovens are suitable for side dishes and smaller meals, while larger ones are great for cooking larger cuts of meat or soups and stews for a crowd.

  3. Versatility: Cuisinart Dutch ovens are incredibly versatile. You can use them on the stovetop for searing and sautéing before transferring them to the oven for slow cooking. Their versatility allows you to make a wide range of dishes, from chili and casseroles to bread and desserts.

  4. Design and Colors: Cuisinart Dutch ovens come in a variety of attractive colors, making them a stylish addition to your kitchen. The colorful enamel exteriors are not only eye-catching but also resistant to chipping and cracking.

  5. Lid: The Dutch oven's lid is typically tight-fitting, helping to trap moisture and heat during cooking. This makes them ideal for slow-cooking methods that require moisture retention.

  6. Easy to Clean: The enamel coating on Cuisinart Dutch ovens makes them relatively easy to clean. You can usually hand wash them with mild soap and warm water. Avoid using harsh abrasives or metal utensils that could damage the enamel.

  7. Price Range: Cuisinart Dutch ovens are often considered a more affordable alternative to some high-end brands while still providing excellent performance and durability.

  8. Accessories: Some Cuisinart Dutch ovens may come with additional accessories like trivets or silicone handles for added convenience and safety during use.

In summary, Cuisinart Dutch ovens are versatile, stylish, and durable cookware items that can be used for a wide range of cooking tasks. Their cast iron construction with enamel coating ensures even cooking and easy maintenance, making them a popular choice for home cooks and chefs alike.

User questions & answers

Question: With just 2 of us now would the 7 quart be too large
Answer: Yes, the 10" will fit inside the 12" from a diameter perspective, but the height is such that it does not completely fit inside the 12". I flip both lids over with the 10" upside down in the 10" oven, then place the 12" lid on top of that . It rattles around a little bit, but at least both the ovens will fit inside the Camp Chef bag made for the 12" oven. Note that the two ovens together on one bag is heavy.
Question: Could someone please tell me if the interior of the pot white enamel
Answer: It's California! Everything has to have that warning, but it's mainly California that causes the cancer. Yes, i live in SO Cal.
Question: Someone wrote that the bottom of this pot is not flat instead, it is concave. Is that true
Answer: 4 Quarts for the 10 inch "Whitetail" Camp Chef Dutch oven.
Question: made where
Answer: The 10" will fit inside the 12" from the diameter perspective, but the height of the 10" is such that you cannot completely put the 12" lid on to completely enclose the 10" oven. I drop my 10" oven in my 12" oven and then put both lids inverted on top. They will both fit inside the zipped up Camp Chef bag this way. It is very heavy, but much more compact to pack.

User questions & answers

Question: One commented that the bottom is not flat and it was returned. Does this mean it will not work well on an induction stove top? Will it heat unevenly
Answer: No, in fact I would think the 7 qt would be perfect. Think of it this way: you can always make a lesser amount of food in a larger pot. If you don't have a larger pot, it would be really difficult to make enough for leftovers, guests, a whole chicken, etc, etc. I wouldn't trade my 8 qt for anything, and we've been empty nesters for 6 years now. I make everything in it.
Question: It's called a casserole, but can it be used as a soup pot/dutch oven? I want to use it for making soup
Answer: I just used mine, and I love it. The interior color is creamy white with yellow in it also. Looks great with the red and black, hope that helps
Question: Can someone provide cooking dimensions of 5 quart round dutch oven, without handles
Answer: The bottom of my Dutch oven seems perfectly flat. It seats solidly on a Thermador electric cook top. I have found it very satisfactory both on the cook top and in the oven.
Question: I recently bought this in 5quart size. Tag says top lid can only be heated to 350 deg but the no-knead bread I'm baking requires 450 deg. Is this ok
Answer: Folks,p lease don't listen to "kbuell" about Staub, as **all of Staub's enameled cast iron items are still enameled in France.** (Staub's all-ceramic/clay cups, dishes, etc. are the **only** Staub items Staub manufactures in China. In contrast, **all** of Staub's enameled cast iron -- including full-sized, non-mini 'Cocottes,' 'Fry Pans', etc. -- are still made in France.) Oh, and BTW, the U.S.-based fulfillment center of Staub's manufacturer -- German company Zwilling Henckels -- is a major employer in upstate New York. I'm not against products made in China per se, but I do try to avoid cookware manufactured in China because of chemical-leeching and off-gassing issues, so I research the heck out of every piece of cookware I buy. Telephone calls to Staub's U.S. headquarters as recently as just last week (07/22/20) confirmed the data that I've given above. Staub enameled cast iron is still forged and enameled in France.

User questions & answers

Question: Is the knob on the lid cast iron
Answer: The pot is 10 in across.
Question: Please excuse my ignorance, but is this the same thing as a Dutch Oven
Answer: I purchase my 5 qt. back in Oct. 2015 and the lid knob is steel and I have baked no-knead bread in it at 450 F. with out any problems. So I'm wondering if Cuisinart has changed their design after 2013. If you do have a knob that is plastic, I would suggest replacing it with a replaceable knob that you can find here at Amazon. I did just that a while ago with another pot lid that needed a new knob, so I purchased a Lodge aluminum replacement knob ( sold here @ Amazon ). It does the job and works great. I do hope this information was helpful for you and others that my have this similar problem. Cheers! :o)

User questions & answers

Question: How many layers of enamel? The expensive brands have 3 and resist chipping better than ones with a single layer
Answer: Yes it is
Question: Where is this product made
Answer: Yes it is but unlike some, the lid of this Dutch oven cannot exceed 450F which for me was too low as some bread recipes I make required 500F.
Question: Does it have enamel coating on the inside as well as the outside
Answer: I have a flat top stove, and own two of these Cuisinart Dutch Ovens. They ARE flat, and work perfectly! Maybe that customer received an imperfect one? Don't know, but I TOTALLY LOVE my two!!
Question: What is the maximum temperature this Dutch oven is rated for? 450f? 500F
Answer: Yes it works awesome as a soup pot/dutch oven. I bought it for my daughter and she loves it! She cooks all the time trying new recipes and usually uses it at least once a week to make a stew or soup in during the fall and winter.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this Dutch oven used for deep frying
Answer: Not exactly sure how many layers but my cuisinart enamel rusted and popped off after 3 uses and 2 weeks. Liked cooking with enamel so got the costlier type. Multiple use and 6 months later, still happy with the more expensive brand
Question: I currently have this dutch oven. my stock # is one digit different from this. my stock number is 6444-22. this one is 6445-22. what is different
Answer: 2016 model made in China
Question: Does this dutch oven have a flat bottom that can be used on glass-top stove
Answer: Yes, it does. It's red on the outside, and a cream color on the inside.
Question: is it dishwasher safe
Answer: I saw one in the store yesterday with a SS handle on top, the brochure that was attached to it said 350. I called Cuisinart today they said 'yes only 350'. I asked them why the 7 quart of the same lid handle design is 500, they said the larger pot had a higher temperature capability. That didn't make sense to me, really. At their website I then looked at the manual for the 3 qt and it was oven safe to 500 degrees. So the CS rep was wrong about the size making a difference relative to the max temperature tolerance. Today at the Cuisinart web site, 5 Qt covered casserole manual page I found the following: Oven Use Pans are oven safe to 500°F. Caution should be used when handling any cookware handles. Always use potholders to grip side handles or cover knobs, as they will become hot.

User questions & answers

Question: What are the dimensions of this pot - height without the glass lid? diameter without the handles
Answer: The bottom is flat - have no idea if it can be used on a flat top stove maybe contactCuisinart. I love this dutch oven
Question: Is this product oven safe
Answer: No, it is not. I made that mistake with my first piece. It won't hurt the actual cookware but the outside finish would be ruined. I'm still using the piece I washed, and other than not looking as good as the others, it works just fine. On the good side, these are the easiest pots and pans to clean. Even the most stuck on things easily come off. It has not been an inconvenience at all not being able to put them in the dishwasher.

Care and Maintenance

Oven Use:

Pans are oven safe to 500°F. Caution should be used when handling any cookware handles. Always use potholders to grip side handles or cover knobs, as they will become hot.

Serving:

Place hot pans on trivet or wooden board when serving. Never place a hot pan directly on an unprotected surface.

Cooking Utensils:

To protect and preserve the surface of the pans, use only wooden, plastic or heat-resistant nylon kitchen tools to avoid scratching the enamel interior. We do not recommend using metal utensils as they may scratch pan’s surface (but will not impair its performance). Do not cut food directly in the cookware. You may use hand blenders or mixers directly in the cookware; may scratch pan interiors, but pan’s performance will not be affected.

User questions & answers

Question: What are the pros and cons of a stainless dutch oven as opposed to enameled cast iron
Answer: You might want to reconsider and get the oval pot. It has lots more versatility such as for stewing a whole large bird AND vegetables and fits very nicely on the largest burner or a double burner of an electric stove.
Question: Glass lids or SS
Answer: 13 x 10 1/2 x 4 1/2
Question: Is it 18/10 steel
Answer: CHINA
Question: Is the Cuisinart FCT22-20F pan OK for use on cooktops that are not induction
Answer: Doesn’t say anywhere on the pot. We LOVE it! Especially for making soups! Cleans easily too, usually only have to let it soak for a little. Highly recommend!

Lodge 6 Quart Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven. White Enamel Dutch Oven (Oyster White)

Lodge

Based on 21 reviews Check latest price

Product description

This 6-Quart enamel Dutch oven is great for cooking, marinating, refrigeration and freezing. The color porcelain enamel on cast iron can be used on gas, electric, ceramic and induction cooktops, as well as in the oven. Not recommended for use on outdoor grills or over open outdoor flames. Not for use in microwaves. Lodge Color Porcelain Enamel on Cast Iron cookware is cast from molten iron in individual sand molds. The porcelain surface eliminates the need to season cast iron. The cast iron vessel has superior heat distribution and retention, evenly heating bottom sidewalls and even the lid. Tightly fitting lid seals in moisture. The excellent heat retention reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking. Two layers of very hard, glossy porcelain enamel are chip resistant and easy to clean. Stainless steel lid knob is oven safe to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. The black rim on the pot is matte porcelain, not exposed cast iron. Hygienic porcelain enamel is non-reactive with food. Although dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended to preserve the cookware's original appearance. Oyster White. Volume: 0.53.

  • 6-quart Dutch oven made of cast iron with chip-resistant porcelain-enamel finish
  • Cast-iron loop side handles for a safe, secure grip when transporting
  • Self-basting cover with handle traps in heat, moisture, and nutrients
  • Hand wash; wood or silicone utensils recommended; oven-safe to 500 degrees F
  • Measures 10-3/4 inches in diameter by 4-1/2 inches deep; limited lifetime warranty

User questions & answers

Question: One of the reviews said you can't brown meat in this pot. Is that correct
Answer: It's all about what you plan to cook. If something will be cooking slow for along time you'll be better off with the cast iron. If you need a tomato sauce or 1/2 lb of spaghetti use the SS. Pro for stainless, cleans really well, much lighter, won't chip(assuming enameled cast iron)
Question: Flat bottom suitable for glass top range
Answer: If you are trying to decide between glass or SS, get the SS lids, which this set has. I have the glass lid set, and I've broken one lid by dropping it.
Question: Is it made in the USA
Answer: MGrimm criticizes these pans of only being 18/0 on the exterior rather than "true" 18/10 stainless. The reason these pans are 18/0 on the exterior is for superior performance on induction cooking surface. An induction pan with 18/10 would have inferior performance on an induction cooktop. If you're concerned about "pretty" rather than performance buy something else. But if you want superior performance using induction an cooktop, at a very reasonable price, these are the pans for you.
Question: I followed the cleaning instructions and after 6mths of use the interior is not slick anymore and everything sticks is this normal? Is there a warranty
Answer: I've been using the French made FCT22 Cuisinart pan set on stovetop for about six months and they just work fine.

About Lodge Cast Iron

Founded in 1896, the Lodge family has been making high quality cookware and accessories for over a century. Lodge Cast Iron operates two foundries on the banks of the Tennessee River in the small town of South Pittsburg, Tennessee; a town Lodge is proud to call home. The company is built on family values, American history, and high quality cookware. All Lodge seasoned cast iron and carbon steel cookware is proudly made in the USA, meaning you’ll get craftsmanship that has been passed down through generations.

Cooking And Caring For Your Lodge Enameled Cast Iron

1. Allow cookware to cool.

2. Although dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water and a nylon Scrub Brush is recommended to preserve the cookware’s original appearance. Citrus juices and citrus-based cleaners (including some dishwasher detergents) should not be used, as they can dull the exterior gloss.

3. If necessary, use nylon pads or scrapers to remove food residue; metal pads or utensils will scratch or chip porcelain.

4. Slight stains can be removed by rubbing with dampened cloth and Lodge Enamel Cleaner or other ceramic cleaner according to directions on bottle.

5. Dry cookware thoroughly before storing. Do not stack cookware.

User questions & answers

Question: what is diameter of the pot
Answer: I made chili in mine as soon as I got it, and I browned 2lb of meat as the first thing I did ... 1lb. ground chuck (85% / 15% fat) and 1lb. ground pork ... and then obviously many other ingredients, but it came out fine. I would think you can brown just about anything you wanted in it... Not sure why you couldn't?
Question: For the 3 quart round covered casserole, that is the measurement of the top opening across the middle (diameter
Answer: Yes. I use mine on a flat top electric range all the time with no problems. I allow it to heat on medium heat and it's good to go!
Question: Can this pot be used in a microwaveoven
Answer: Yes, they are made overseas, not in the USA. I've had my pan for 7 years now...and it's used weekly, and more often in the winter months. I was a bit disappointed when it came and I realized it wasn't made in the USA but decided to give it a chance. After 7 years of hard use I can honestly say it's the best pot I have ever owned! It's discolored a bit, not surprising with the amount of use it gets and all the soups stews and roasts I make in it throughout each year. But that hasn't affected the pot at all. It is just a good as it was when I first bought it. I'm going to try the 1 cup baking soda and 4 cups water trick (boil 5 min let sit with the lid on for 2 hours) that I read about in one of the other questions to see if it will return to it's original beige coloring, but even if it doesn't, it's still going to be my "go to" pot for everything I can use a dutch oven for :-) I highly recommend this pot, even though it's not made in the USA!
Question: what is the maximum oven temperature? Does the manufacturer have recommendations / hesitations about "under the broiler
Answer: That is because it is cast iron. Every so often, you need to "season" it, which is what makes the surface slick. The basic process is coating the exposed iron in high-heat oil, and heating it to a very high temperature for about an hour. There is a bit more to it, but just look up "how to season cast iron". The oil you rub in and heat onto it fills the porous surface of the iron and makes it non-stick. To clean cast-iron surfaces, you don't want to submerge in water or use soap on it. It is best to clean right after using, and overall just scrub any residual gunk off. You don't even need water, usually! If you use a bunch of soap and water on your pot, it will just ruin the coating, and you will need to re-season it. If you take care of your cast iron though, it will be with you for life! :) http://www.seriouseats.com/2016/09/how-to-season-cast-iron-pans-skillets-cookware.html
