HOW TO INSTALL THE VELIMAX WINDOW FILM?

3 TIPS BEFORE YOU START:

• A small utility knife with breakaway blades is the best tool for trimming film. Film can dull a blade edge quickly; and a dull blade can tear film.
• Fill a spray bottle with a soapy water solution: to 1qt. bottled water, add 1/4 tsp of liquid soap. Avoid using concentrated or degreasing detergents. If you can't find proper liquid soap, the clean water is also OK for the solution.
• Remove any caulk, paint or glue debris that may be stuck to the window.

8 STEPS OF THE INSTALLATION:

1. Measure and record the dimensions the target glass.
2. Clean the glass thoroughly.
3. Add 1+ inch on every side when cutting the film so you have excess film to trim away.
4. Peel off the backing liner.
5. Generously spray the soapy water both on the glass and the window film.
6. Place the film on the wet glass, adjust the position of the window film.
7. Using a plastic squeegee or card, begin squeegeeing the water and air out from under the film.
8. Trim excess material away with a VERY sharp razor or craft knife, leaving a 1/16” wide gap around the edges of the film.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

• 1. How to deal with the air bubbles?

Use a hard plastic squeegee or any plastic card to squeegee air bubbles and water. If you find it's hard to get rid of the bubbles, uncover the window film, spray more water between the glass and the film and squeegee firmly again. Water will make it much easier to remove bubbles.

• 2. Why the film fall off after a while?

Please confirm if you have removed the liner, trimmed the edges or squeegeed excess water and bubbles.

• 3. Can I remove the film at a later stage?

Question:	does the adhesive work well on textured walls
Answer:	It’s a reasonably good adhesive for flat smooth surfaces, but does lose some ability to adhere with changes in humidity inside a house. We just glued it up when it began to come loose. It still works well. Where there was irregularity innthe surface of the window casing or wall, it did not adhere as well. So my answer to that question would have to be no.

Question:	Can I use these in my apartment where there are already existing permanent blinds (not blackout ones) which I cannot remove
Answer:	The blinds are about 1 1/2 inches in depth. If you have room between the permanent blinds and the window they should fit. The top sticks to the window and unfolds downward as far as you want. They provide a clip to set the height.
Question:	Is it sturdy enough to be taken on and off daily, without ruining the adhesive
Answer:	A simple solution to mounting them daily is to use push pins or thumbtacks. If you cannot push them into wood to hold the blinds at the top of each side then use a tiny hammer or the rubber handles of a pair of pliers. When you leave if you're worried about the holes created by use of pins or tacks just spackle them with wood dough. You might use the same holes to push the pins into.
Question:	what kind of tape to use
Answer:	does the included adhesive tape at the top damage the wall/ceiling when the blind is removed. I only need them for one week.
Question:	How well do these block out the light? I need something that completely blocks the light out. Anyone got a picture of how well these work
Answer:	You can use scotch tape (or any other good tape) and use black trash bags which you likely already have to black out the window for significantly cheaper than these. I used a 30 gal 1.2 mil trash bag on my window which covered the whole thing, and it blocks out about 95% of the light. The drapes then block out the rest creating total black out. If you were to buy the heavy duty "yard trash bags" that are 2 mil or thicker, I guarantee those would blackout a window alone. A 50 gal yard or construction trash bag would cover a huge window. With my drapes (which I never open) you can see the trash bag either so it doesn't look bad. The window its on faces my backyard so nobody will ever see it outside. This window unfortunately faces east so the rising sun beams in my window and I work nights and come home to go to sleep in the morning. This works like a charm!

Answer:	It would completely blacken your sunroof. It is opaque. No light comes in. If that is the effect you want, sure, this will work. But, if you just want the sunroof shaded or even reduced as a dark tint would, no. The only way for light to enter would be if you open the sunroof. And, be very careful during installation. The material tears easily.

Answer:	I’m not experiencing that issue, even with my dogs standing on the top to bark out the window. I have to straighten it out regularly but it never slides down on me. I keep the top flap tucked under the strap in the back to give it some extra support. In all, I love it. I was using blankets before and was always having to pick them up.

1. Clean the surface ensure there isn't any kind of dust, debris or oil.

2. Measure the target surface and trim the film with the backing layer still on, leave an excess inch for adjustment.

3. Have a spray bottle of water or soapy water. 

4. Spray the glass with enough soapy water before you are about to apply the film.

5. Remove the backing off the film before placing it on the wet surface. TIPS: Stick a tape to the backing film's corner will help easily separate it from the window film.

6. Squeeze air bubbles and excess water away, wipe with the towel before cutting the edge to the exact size.

7. Trim the excess edge to the exact size with small utility knife or sharp blade.

Question:	Anyone wash these to get the prefold lines out? Do they bleed at all on delicate? Or, if I just hang them will the fold lines go away
Answer:	Anytime you have something that is new with dark colors and you are afraid of the dye bleeding off of the fabric, use white vinegar. Go ahead and put it in your washer on the delicate cycle and add your detergent with about one cup of white vinegar. It will take the excess dye out of your material but not harm it and the next time it won't bleed. Make sure to wash it in cold water and then I would dry it on low heat in delicates for about fifteen to twenty minutes. That's how I always wash all of mine and then hang them up slightly damp. I've never had any problems with them. I hope helps you out. 😊
Question:	Are these curtains lined and if so with what material
Answer:	They are not lined and they are not really "black out" curtains like you would have in a hotel room. If you need true black out curtains look elsewhere.
Question:	I never bought curtains...and I need help. My window is 46 inches wide. Would the sizing of this product work to use 2 pieces in one window
Answer:	As a rule, when doing curtains, you should plan on doing at least 1.5x the width of your window (69"), up to 2.5x wider for really full treatment (115") . I purchased multiple pairs of these for multiple 36" windows, and while two panels per window will work as interim while my final curtains are being made, I'm not sure you could do a 10" wider window and be happy. For your width, you probably want 4 panels total, to get a nice full look when they are closed.
Question:	Is each panel
Answer:	Each panel is 42", but once threaded onto a rod, they'll cover less than 42" because of the grommets make the curtains zigzag around the rod. When I put them on an IKEA HUGAD rod (1" diameter), I lost 5" of coverage on each panel. The total effective coverage was only 74" (37" each).
