Answer:	Yes pretty easily, and I have a larger rod. It just takes a tad more effort closer to the top to scrunch them back but I have no problem doing that daily.

Answer:	You can not see through these drapes. Light does leak out of the room from the top and bottom, and they appear vaguely illuminated from outdoors at night. However, if the light were to be blocked at the edges, a person would need to study the window carefully to discern whether the lights were on or off. Objects or people moving around within the room between a source of light and the curtains would not cast a shadow that could be detected from outdoors.
