Answer:	I don't know if the problem was fixed as this is the only rug I've purchased. Mine didn't smell upon opening. Haven't had any issues with it all.

Answer:	No idea what the weight per foot is, but it's pretty lightweight and manageable. I'm only 4 ft 11 and regular weight for my height and I was able to manage it myself. My rug is 23 ft long too.

Answer:	I would use a carpet shampooer. By the way I love the grip on this carpet. I use a cane and it does not move. Even when vacuuming it will stay in place.
