Answer:	I was disappointed with the product. It does not block weeds from coming up so, I would assume plants from above would go through.
Question:	How soft or rough is this
Answer:	It would fray if a cut was left exposed. But once the material is secured and covered, I've never had problems with it. We used to use a propane torch to burn holes in it for plants (thus sealing the edges), but don't bother with that anymore. Cutting holes for our plants works just fine.

Answer:	Yes it is. I was concerned about that after it arrived it is heavy duty. I bought it to put under raised beds. After filling one with dirt I really flooded it with water to make sure. For best results, you will want to shake your rug out prior to vacuuming, to release dust and debris. This is called "dusting" your rug. Use your vacuum's floor setting - be sure the floor setting for your vacuum can be used without the beater bar. The beater bar, even while disabled, should not make contact with the rug. Do not use a floor setting attachment that does not have a wheeled, gliding function. Do not use any attachment that drags over a loop pile or flat weave, as this will cause fraying. Liquid spills can dissolve dirt particles and bring them to the surface causing watermarks to form. Therefore spills must be dabbed immediately with an absorbent white cloth and then dried. Professional rug cleaning recommended.

Answer:	I think mine is close to 6ft round, so no for me. It might be possible to wash the 3ft but I’m not sure if it’s recommended. The braiding is pretty tight so I don’t THINK it would be harmed on a gentle cycle, but that’s just my opinion.
