Answer:	Depends on the size of your hens and if you are going to let them out during the day but as for something for safety at night and it would be big enough for them it keeps my 17 lb rabbit happy and she stretches out and and runs like crazy it she loves it and she hardly comes out of it. It does have the perching shelf and it does have a divider you can put on the perching shelf but I didn’t for my rabbit. It has a wide bottom floor inside where the perching shelf is at. I hope this helps but my 17 lb rabbit can turn around just fine in all areas of this set up.
