Answer: My husband loves these boots 8 1/2 wide. I don't think they stretch because I bought 8 1/2 regular and had to return them.

Answer: Small depth in tread. Not enough to really collect a lot of mud. Also has a deeper groove in heel, again not really deep enough to collect a lot of mud. Both are just enough to give a skid proof step. Very nice boot
