Answer:	These are made from High Density Polyethylene. BPA is not relevant with HDPE. Here is some info... On BPA free… Many of us are concerned about BPA. It is a frequent question these days. We provide the information on our listings in anticipation of that question. However, as most of our products are made from High Density PolyEthylene (HDPE), BPA is not a chemical that would be used anyways. Of our warehouse full of product, none are actually marked as such since BPA is not relevant to HDPE. BPA is used in other plastics; usually clear plastics such as polycarbonate. Folks want to know that there is no BPA but it is similar to someone advertising an apple as "fat free" when there is no fat in the apple to begin with (this is an example, we are not apple experts). An illustration… A manufacturer of our buckets uses "Marlex (TM) 9006 Polyethylene" by Phillips Chemical Company. Phillips Chemical documentation states... "California’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (Proposition 65) - This product, as shipped by Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP, is not known to contain any carcinogens or reproductive toxins presently known by the State of California to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity at a level of exposure subject to the requirements of California Proposition 65." As it has been explained to us, California Proposition 65 captures the use of BPA. The manufacturer identifies the document, from which the above statement is taken, as addressing the request for BPA free affirmation. It has been further explained that much of the industry has adopted the phrase "BPA non-intent" as opposed to BPA free. As explained by our supplier, this is because there may be BPA in the air we breathe and it is not possible to declare anything to be entirely free of a particular compound. "BPA non-intent" conveys, to our layman's understanding, that BPA is not knowingly or intentionally used or added in their product. It's easy to see the footprint of the attorney mindset in the language of such documents. Getting back to simpler language, BPA is not needed and is not used in the manufacture of these products. The industry had not determined to mark products made of materials that are not candidates for BPA as they might a product made of a material which would be a candidate for the use of BPA. Having said that, one of us did see a bucket in a grocery store a while back with a sticker on it that included "BPA Free". The bucket was otherwise unremarkable and given our understanding, we do see it as more misleading than informational. While the sticker did convey that the bucket was BPA free (… what we know to be BPA non-intent), it carried with it the implication that other "food grade" buckets were not. As with the inappropriately labeled apple, labeling the bucket in this fashion is similarly misleading. HDPE products are not the place to look for BPA. Continuing… A polycarbonate baby bottle would need the marking because it is a product that would have likely included BPA prior to the current level of concern. Now the manufactures want to reassure us that their polycarbonate product does not contain that compound. Incidentally, we've read that there is concern that replacement chemicals may ultimately prove to be as bad, or worse, than the BPA. HDPE products don't have BPA in them so they are not marked. Because some folks are of the impression that BPA is an issue for anything plastic, we now find ourselves having to explain this. If you want a product without BPA or a replacement, use HDPE. HDPE is a preferred plastic material if BPA is a concern.
Question:	Why are these heroes? Aren't they just people with good paying jobs
Answer:	We are not aware of a limit. At some point the gasket on the lid will wear presumably. Chemical compatibility is a consideration, of course. Assuming water use, were not aware of a limiting factor other than simply physically wearing out the product. The tamper evidencing locking ring breaks loose the first time the lid is removed. Answer:	We strongly recommend against any environment where the water could freeze.

Answer:	Water will last until it evaporates through the plastic. If you plan to drink the water from the containers without using a serious filter, then you should probably refill the jugs every couple of years. Be sure to rinse the jugs with a bleach solution prior to filing them. Use 4 teaspoons of 8.25% bleach per gallon of water to sanitize the containers, then throw it out. Add a little bleach to the water after filling to reduce growth of anything in the water. Add 40 drops (a little over a half a teaspoon) of bleach per 5 gallons to the clean water after filling.
