Answer:	Same here. The stones or glass rocks are just decorative. The glass sparkles when the fire is lit and is a colorful cover when it is off. For example if you chose red glass it would look a bit like embers when the fire is on.
Question:	Do the birch colored logs stay white or do they turn dark
Answer:	Mine have turned dark where yellow flame touches them but there's quite a bit of light color left - it seems to make them look more natural with some scorch marks. If you have a lot of flame then they'll probably get darker.

Answer:	We used these in an outdoor gas fire pit. They look great and perform well. Looking to add them to current logs in our indoor fireplace. Steps for Buying a Fireplace Grate

• If you have a zero clearance fireplace, measure your existing grate or refer to the owner’s manual for appropriate grate dimensions. For your safety, do not follow the measuring instructions below. Improperly sizing your grate may harm your appliance and may increase your risk of a fire.
• If you have a masonry fireplace, measure the firebox following the instructions below.
• Determine the necessary clearance from the bottom of the grate. If you have a log lighter in your fireplace, measure the height of the log lighter to ensure the fireplace grate will sit over it.

How to Measure For A Fireplace Grate?

1. Measure the front width of your firebox
2. Measure the back width of your firebox
3. Measure the depth of your firebox
4. Subtract 6 inches from each measurement to determine the grate size needed

Leaving a 3 inch clearance on each side of grate allows your firebox to have the proper function and airflow. If your grate is too small, there will be too much air flow leading to faster burn times. If your grate is too big, the fire may damage the walls of your firebox.

Answer:	I am not sure on the thickness. I had to return mine because it was damaged during shipping. One of the feet was sheared off. Shipping package was very cheap. So the fact that it could happen tells you it’s not a solid piece.
