User questions & answers
Question: | With multiple sensors, which temperature is displayed or does it just cycle through them |
Answer: | I don't recall. I had to dig some on the La Crosse website to get the information |
Question: | Where can you get instructions on how to set time etc. on model WS |
Answer: | This is compatible sensor for model 308-1412S. |
Question: | Do you have a clock with multiple remotes? So you can get outside temp as well as temp in greenhouse |
Answer: | Compatible with the following models: 308-1414B, 308-1414w, 308-1414MB, 308-1425B, 308-1425c, S87078 and S88907 |
Question: | Does the main face of the clock turn off? So I just see the projection on the ceiling |
Answer: | I believe so, but unless you are using it for an indoor measurement I wouldn't consider it. This unit is "weather resistant" not "weather proof." I have been through three of them in the last three years because shifting winds in a storm soaked it. I am getting rid of the unit as a result. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there a second indoor unit that could be used with a single remote sensor would buying two if this work with a single remote |
Answer: | The projection displays the temperature from the sensor shown on the console. If you have the console cycling through all the temperature sensors, the projection display cycles through all the sensors. Be aware that if you have 2 sensors connected, the null signal (---.-) also cycles through the display. |
Question: | The outdoor temperature stops displaying. What could be the problem and how to fix it? Everything else is working fine. Thank you |
Answer: | Here is the link: https://p10.secure.hostingprod.com/@site.ambientweatherstore.com/ssl/Manuals/ws8365.pdf |
Question: | Where can one get a hold of a second remote sensor |
Answer: | The RC-8365 works with up to three total remote temp/humidity sensors. Model TX-8300. |
Question: | My car is having an issue with the cabin pressure &I'm trying to prove this to the dealer. Will the barometer measure the air pressure in the car |
Answer: | Both displays are on all the time. In the dark, the clock face can't be easily discerned, but the projection is very visible; in daylight the projection can't be discerned (too much ambient light for contrast) but the clock face provides information. The exception is that if the power is out, the projection shuts down to save battery life. If you wake up at night and there is no projection on the ceiling, you almost certainly have a power outage. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does this projection alarm clock have a electric cord or is it battery |
Answer: | The clock itself has an indoor sensor which displays the indoor temperature. Otherwise you can buy an additional sensor if you want temperature in another inside location. You then have to change channels to view the temperature on the second indoor/outdoor sensor. |
Question: | Is this clock lit with led bulbs? when they burn out, can they be replaced |
Answer: | Simply moving your display console (or receiver) to a different location may easily fix the communication issue. We recommend the following best practices for trouble free wireless communication. Fresh Batteries. If applicable, make sure there are fresh batteries in both the console and remote. Remember to power up the console last when changing batteries. Do not use rechargeable batteries. They have a lower voltage and lower range than non-rechargeable batteries. Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI). Keep the console several feet away from computers, TVs and electronic cables. Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). If you have other 433/915 MHz devices and communication is intermittent, try turning off these other devices for troubleshooting purposes. You may need to relocate the transmitters or receivers to avoid intermittent communication. Cold Weather. If the temperature is below < 10 degF, use e2 energizer batteries (Lithium), available in most stores batteries are sold (blue in color). Alkaline and NMH (nickel metal hydride) batteries do not operate below 10 degF. Sensor orientation. To insure proper communication, mount the remote sensor on a vertical surface, such as a wall. Do not lay the sensor flat if this is a small remote sensor. Line of Sight Rating. This device is rated at 300 feet line of sight (no interference, barriers or walls) but typically you will get 100 feet maximum under most real-world installations, which include passing through barriers or walls. Metal Barriers. Radio frequency will not pass through metal barriers such as aluminum siding. If you have metal siding, align the remote and console through a window to get a clear line of sight. Defective Sensor. It is possible the remote sensor is defective. If you have not done so already, to replace under one year warranty, please visit AmbientWeather.com/rma.html The following is a table of reception loss vs. the transmission medium. Each “wall” or obstruction decreases the transmission range by the factor shown below. Medium RF Signal Strength Reduction Glass (untreated) 5-15% Plastics 10-15% Wood 10-40% Brick 10-40% Concrete 40-80% Metal 90-100% |
Question: | How do I reverse the projection 180 degrees |
Answer: | I am sorry but they are not yet available. Sorry, the product is relatively new and we wanted to make sure there was enough interest in multiple sensors. |
Question: | can you turn off the projection of the temperature and just project the time |
Answer: | This is not really a car friendly product. It is meant for home use and requires an AC adapter. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this work with RC |
Answer: | Yes but with shipping costs, the prices are very close. |
Question: | Is there a radiant shield you can purchase that helps give more accurate temps in the sun or radiant heat from stone walls about 2 feet out from wall |
Answer: | Actually, there is. There's a 'key' that fits in a slot on the side of the case. It's there to guarantee the top and bottom can't separate. My experience over three years is there's no way the two parts can not separate in normal use, the seal is 'very' tight. So, just remove the 'key' and slip a piece of string/cord through the hole then tie the string off where you need the sensor to stay. |
Question: | Does this remote sensor work with the WS |
Answer: | I had the same problem and got it replaced under warranty which I was surprised to find out is one year. Doesn't help you, though. |
Question: | I have ws-8460 clock but lost outdoor temperature sensor. can this outdoor sensor be used in my clock ws |
Answer: | No. The TX-3107 is compatible with the WS-8482 and WS-8478A and future models. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Atomic clock will this synchronize with the time server in colorado because some people in their review had difficulties is this true? thank you |
Answer: | It has both. The clock itself is powered by two AA batteries. The projection light that displays the time on the ceiling or elsewhere is powered by a low voltage transformer with a cord and plug. The clock will function by itself without external power, but to see it on the ceiling you need to have the transformer and cord plugged in with AC power. |

Answer: | the bulb is built in & doesn't look like it could be replaced. I think it would last the life of the weather radio. |
Question: | People are having issues with the time setting/adjusting automatically; why is that? For those affected, is it just this or w/ any clock of this sort |
Answer: | You must press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button and then the REVERSE button. If you reference the manual here:http://site.ambientweatherstore.com/Manuals/rc8427.pdfIt is referenced in Section 5.6.2. |
Question: | Does the ac adaptor accept 220v? also, is the radio controlled clock compatible with the european frequency (dcf77) or does it read only the us one |

Answer: | I don't think so. The list of compatible devices doesn't seem to list the WS-50. You might check with Ambient Weather for a definitive answer. |
Question: | Is it possible to write my own software to pull temperature and humidity data from the console via USB |
Answer: | Yes it will work |
Question: | what memory size sd cards are supported |
Answer: | Over a period of time, high humidity and condensation may have an effect on the electronics of the remote sensor. It is not weatherproof. I would place the unit in a sheltered location or in an enclosure that would limit exposure to direct moisture. Replacement remote sensors are relatively inexpensive at about $14. I have extensive experience with electronics. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this device interface with IFTTT, as some of the other Ambient Weather devices do |
Answer: | The 2000 can monitor up to 8 external temp/humidity sensors (one of these is dedicated to indoor Temp/Hum + barometric pressure) whereas the 2902A can only monitor one. Since the sensor cluster is the same for three different systems, you can use the display from WS-1900 (like WS-2902A only no WiFi), WS-2902A, or WS-2000. |
Question: | What is the length of the power cord |
Answer: | It depends on the part but if the rain gauge fails, the entire sensor array needs replacing. The sensor array is relatively less expensive. Item WS-2902-ARRAY, currently $53.99 + shipping (subject to change). |
Question: | Does it use rechargable batteries in transmitter (i.e. 1.3V)? I considering replacing a cheaper unit because of terrible battery life in transmitter |
Answer: | According to the specs I saw at https://weatherstationdepot.com/ws-2902-osprey-review/ the wind speed is averaged over 16 seconds and the wind gust is sampled every second. But is this the average wind gust over the 16 seconds or is it the maximum wind gust over the 16-second period? |
Question: | Is there a way to stop scrolling between scensors? I have only one scensor and would like it to remain on view all the time |
Answer: | Yes, but another way to go is to get a cheap tablet and use either a weather app with your data, like weather underground, or a web browser to your data on weather underground or ambient weather. I got a 10" tablet off Walmart's website for $50 and works great next to my bed for viewing my weather info. |

Special Notes and Caveats
- The backlight requires AC power to operate. The batteries are intended for back-up power only. The backlight will remain on for 5 seconds when on back up battery power only. The backlight will stay on if you use the AC adapter.
- AC adapter 110V/60 Hz. Intended for use in North America.
- The Radio Controlled Time (RCC) only supports the contiguous 48 US States and Hawaii. Does not support Alaska.
- The wireless signal will not penetrate solid metal or earth.
- Transmission range: up to 300 feet open air (ideal conditions), 100 feet for most applications.
- Energizer LiIon e2 batteries recommend for long life and cold weather (less than 10 degF).
- The forecast icon is based on the rate of change of barometric pressure.
The rate of change of barometric pressure is a trend and may be one of several tools to predict weather 24 to 48 hours in advance.
In general, if the rate of change of pressure increases, the weather is improving (sunny). If the rate of change of pressure decreases, the weather is degrading (cloudy or rainy). If the rate of change is relatively steady, it will read partly cloudy or partly sunny (depending on the type of weather station).
The reason the current conditions do not match the forecast icon is because it is a prediction 24-48 hours in advance. In most locations, this prediction is only 70% accurate and it is a good idea to consult the National Weather Service for more accurate weather forecasts. In some locations, this prediction may be less or more accurate.

User questions & answers
Question: | How loud is the alarm |
Answer: | Not very loud. And it’s just a beep. But the room temp and time on the ceiling is a nice feature |
Question: | Is the projection constant or do you have to press a button to project the time |
Answer: | It is either or.....which is nice. I keep mine on "constant" so in the middle of the night I can just look up to check the time. This is my second Ambient clock - Ambient JUST illuminates the time and temp on the ceiling without a backlight - the others, which I have purchased and returned, have backlighting which tends to light up the room way too much. I highly recommend this clock - my initial one lasted over 15 years and read the instructions because you can change the direction 180 degrees Good Luck! |
Question: | Can someone tell me why my clock (brand new) keeps jumping ahead 3 hours at night?? Tried resetting it several times and it keeps doing it |
Answer: | It appears you have the wrong time zone set. I am guessing you live in the Pacific Time Zone and you set the Eastern Time Zone by mistake. The manual helps you change the time zone back to Pacific. |
Question: | Hummm. this says it's a radio controlled clock. but is it also a am fm radio also? or no |
Answer: | No, it is radio controlled time but not an AM/FM clock radio. Atomic clocks, radio controlled clocks and exact set clocks are all different names for clocks that keep perfect time by automatically synchronizing to the radio signal emitted from the U.S. Atomic Clock in Colorado. Radio controlled clocks reset daily to the split second, and adjust automatically to Daylight Savings Time, Leap Year and Time Zone Changes. |
