Living in Florida, we don't get much cold weather but some of us still want a fireplace, even if it's only for aesthetics. This unit checks off boxes: beautiful, functional, and warms a rather large living space. I built a custom surround that I literally just finished. Very pleased. It looks great, was easy to install and puts out a good amount of heat. I read other reviews about the noise and remote not working but this was not the case for me. We bought this to heat up a drafty living room. Our fireplace doesn’t work, but the inside of it is painted black. We put this unit inside the fireplace and with its black frame, it looks great, and produces enough heat to take the chill off (we live in Southern California, it really is just the chill of a 50 degree evening, not a snow storm). We originally plugged it into a surge protector that had several other things in it and we blew a fuse. We plugged it in it’s own surge protector and outlet and haven’t had that issue again.
