14 best lp room heaters

LP room heaters, also known as propane room heaters, are a type of space heater designed to provide warmth and comfort in indoor spaces using propane as a fuel source. These heaters are commonly used in homes, cabins, and other spaces where a convenient and portable heating solution is needed. Here are some key features and information about LP room heaters:

  1. Propane Fuel Source: LP room heaters are powered by propane gas, which is stored in a tank or cylinder.Propane is a clean-burning fuel that produces efficient and consistent heat when burned.

  2. Portability: Most LP room heaters are portable, allowing users to move them to different areas of a room or to different rooms altogether. This makes them versatile and easy to use.

  3. Heat Output: LP room heaters come in various sizes and heat output capacities, ranging from small units suitable for personal spaces to larger models capable of heating larger rooms or even whole homes. The heat output is measured in British Thermal Units (BTUs).

  4. Safety Features: Modern LP room heaters are equipped with safety features such as oxygen depletion sensors (ODS) and tip-over switches. The ODS monitors the oxygen level in the room and shuts off the heater if it detects low oxygen levels, reducing the risk of carbon monoxide buildup. The tip-over switch automatically turns off the heater if it is accidentally knocked over.

  5. Efficiency: Propane heaters are known for their efficiency because they convert a high percentage of the fuel's energy into heat. This can result in cost savings compared to electric heaters in some cases.

  6. Ventilation: While LP room heaters are generally safe to use indoors, proper ventilation is essential to ensure the release of combustion byproducts. It's important to follow the manufacturer's guidelines for ventilation and room size recommendations.

  7. Ignition Types: LP room heaters can have manual ignition systems or electronic ignition systems. Electronic ignition systems are more convenient and eliminate the need for a separate ignition source.

  8. Maintenance: Regular maintenance, such as cleaning the burner and checking for leaks, is crucial to ensure the safe and efficient operation of LP room heaters. Follow the manufacturer's maintenance instructions.

  9. Usage Considerations: LP room heaters are suitable for both temporary and supplemental heating needs. They are often used as backup heaters during power outages or to warm specific areas within a home.

  10. Regulations: It's essential to be aware of local regulations and codes regarding the use of LP room heaters. Some areas may have specific requirements for ventilation, tank placement, and safety measures.

In summary, LP room heaters offer a convenient and portable heating solution for indoor spaces using propane as a fuel source. They come in various sizes and feature safety mechanisms to ensure safe operation. Proper maintenance and adherence to safety guidelines are essential when using these heaters.

User questions & answers

Question: It warns against using in elevations higher than 4,500 FT. Have you had success at
Answer: Yes, there have been units with success over 4,500 ft, what this means is we aren't able to guarantee successful operation of these heaters are higher than 4,500 ft.
Question: How many hours or days will it run with a 20# bottle
Answer: I recently insulated a 14’ x 20‘ workshop attachment on my garage. I got this heater and before I bought a big tank I tried it on a 10 pound tank from my grill. It was set on number one setting the temperature outside was in the 30s and I got 64 hours out of it holding just over 60°. So I figure a 20 pound bottle should last me little over five days. So I’m going to get a 30 pound bottle that way I only have to refill about once a week. Warmer weather less often, I hope this helps.
Question: It dont tell the dimensions? Is it 20" wide
Answer: The dimensions for the heater are 23 3/4" W x 11 1/4" D x 27" H.
Question: Can u use propane tank from a grill and how long would it last
Answer: Quick math says about 17 hrs on full tank. This heater has a high and low output, controlled by the thermostat, not the user. One gallon propane would last approx 4 hours. A full 20 lb tank holds about 4.5 gallons.
Question: how long does it last on a small propane tank
Answer: The 1# tank will ice up and slowly turn off the heater on anything but the lowest setting. That lasts about 2 hours. A little buddy heater with 4K/9K Btu works best with the 1# cylinders. I have the hose hookup for a 20# tank and it's nice to have the option of using either size. You have to light this one with a lighter which is just another thing to forget to pack.
Question: Just tried to make coffee on it and the grill started to collapse is there a sturdier grill for it
Answer: As far as I know... No. A simular thing happened to me. I reattached the grill using good old fashioned wire hanger twisted. This was only a temporary fix.
Question: Did anyone get the "foot" for the 1 lb. bottles and is it a worthwhile add-on
Answer: Not sure what you're referring to. The one lb. bottle hangs suspended when connected. I wouldn't recommend getting this model. Get the model MH12C if you can. The regulator broke after a couple months and I couldn't return it. Instead I bought the regulator that was for the MH12C and adapted it to fit the MH15C. Since then it's been working great for a year. I also recommend purchasing the hose adapter so you can run off a 20 lb. bottle. It'll last a lot longer
Question: how long does a 1lb bottle last compared to a 20lb bottle
Answer: A one pound bottle on medium setting will last about 1-1/2 hour so figure at least 25 hrs for a 20 pounder.

Blue Flame Vent Free Heaters

Our Vent Free heaters need no external power, great for power outages and applications with no electricity. They can be mounted to the wall with the supplied bracket or on the floor with the supplied feet.

Most common uses are rooms that don’t warm well so you can adjust the temperature level in them without having to affect the rest of the home.

There are two types of vent free heaters, blue flame (or convection heat) and infrared (or radiant heat). The difference in these types of heat are how the warm.

The Blue Flame heater warms the air. It doesn’t radiate the heat like an infrared unit. It can be put in a narrow area because the heat rises and warms the area from the ceiling down. Blue Flame warms the air, infrared warms objects, which heat the air.

Note: Units cannot be converted from Propane to Natural Gas and vice versa. They are not designed to be a primary source of heat, as they are designed to work with a furnace.

User questions & answers

Question: I ordered one of these but can't seem to find info on how it actually hooks up to the propane tank. Also, does it come with a tank
Answer: It does not include a tank. You can get a Mr Heater hose that is 3/8 npt on one end and a tank fitting on the other end. The inlet on the heater is 3/8 npt.
Question: Can this heater run with only the pilot flame on
Answer: It is self-contained and automatic. The pilot setting will keep only the pilot burning. In heating mode it will automatically turn on and off at the desired temperature. The optional fan is not required but does not need to be plugged in if installed.
Question: Does this have plate for built in fan
Answer: Yes. Also wired for the fan so it is thermostatically controlled. Fan sold seperately.
Question: How low can the thermostat be set? Can it keep a room just above freezing
Answer: I use it to supplement my forced air heat. I would imagine in a room that is prone to freezing with the unit on it's lowest setting it would cycle quite a bit. It definitely kicks out a lot of heat.
Question: How long will 20lb propaine last on lowest setting in insulated room
Answer: Say a 10' x 10' room; about 12 to 16 hours. You MUST have some fresh air coming into the room or the O2 depletion will shut the heater off. Propane need air to burn just like most flames.
Question: Is this safe in a 300 square foot cabin as the sole source of heat
Answer: This is very large for a room of that size. I would recommend the 20,000 BTU model. That is ASIN B01DPZ5B3. These are designed as supplemental heat but it could be used for your application.
Question: Does this product have built in regulator
Answer: You must use an external regulator. You need some other hardware if you are going to use it on the floor. Here is what you need: ASIN:B0002YPAFY Rectorseal 23631 1/4 Pint Brush Top T Plus 2 Pipe Thread Sealant, ASIN:B0058DIGPU Anvil 8700137808, Steel Pipe Fitting, Nipple, 3/8" NPT Male x 4" Length, Black Finish, ASIN:B005R21QLS Mr. Heater 12-Feet Hose/Regulator Assembly, P.O.L. and Hand Wheel x 3/8-Inch Female Pipe Thread. If your heater did not include an elbow, get a 3/8" ASIN:B005C2U67I Anvil Malleable Iron Pipe Fitting, Class 150, 90 Degree Street Elbow, NPT Male x NPT Female, Black Finish. Put sealant on the outside threads only. Screw the elbow into the heater so that the opening faces the front of the heater. Screw the nipple into the elbow. Attach the feet that came with the heater. Screw the hose onto the nipple. Attach the other end of the hose to your propane tank. Check all connections with soapy water before lighting.
Question: Will this burn in high elevation
Answer: Yes as long as there is enough oxygen. Oxygen above 12000 feet altitude becomes thin and supports combustion less efficiently.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this item safe for indoor use? Is there a manufacturer's description you can send me
Answer: hi this is the new 23mm from viltrox. and i think the autofocus on this new firmware is more realiable
Question: I'm seeing some comments about a 5 lb tank. Will this work with that and are the connection sizes the same
Answer: You would need a Fujimount XF to Sony mount adapter. Otherwise no. It's a Fuji X mount lens. I would suggest a Sony or their third party mount lenses
Question: Does the regulator come with a pol fitting for the tank or the plastic acme nut? manual pic shows pol, but video shows acme nut
Answer: I felt the same way when I got mine. It definitely has more resistance than the 18-55, but I think it's by design. With a more shallow depth of field at f1.2 you want a tighter focus ring for better control. Whether yours is abnormally resistant I don't know.
Question: Can this unit be used above
Answer: 62mm - Get a quality filter as it will degrade the image quality if you don't

User questions & answers

Question: Will unit work with 20 lb propane tank
Answer: I agree that the 20 gal. tank won't last very long...........we have ours hooked up along with several others, to a 1000 gal tank. Works great there....
Question: I am looking to use something like this unit for backup heat for all electric house. Can this be hooked up to a LP gas bottle like on a charcoal gri
Answer: Yes. Just make sure the unit is configured for LP. Thes units can also work with natural gas but it is an either/or situation. A 30K BTU unit will burn through a 20 lb (grill size) tank in 2-3 days depending or demand. Good idea to test usage before you actually need it.
Question: how many square feet will it heat
Answer: I heat 900 square feet insulated garage in bitter cold northern Minnesota on the 1st setting. I have had to turn it up to 2nd setting for some people to be comfortable. Its a great heater very happy with it.
Question: I'm purchasing this heater to hook up to a large outside propane tank w/ regulator. Do I need to purchase the hookup kit
Answer: you should have your local propane provider run the necessary piping if none exists yet. If it is already set up, you should be able to tie into the tank yourself, but check out the local regulations, as you may have to be a licensed plumber to avoid any insurance issues should something go wrong. At any rate you should not need the hookup kit.

User questions & answers

Question: where do i find the connector to connect the heater to a propane tank
Answer: I doesn’t come with gas bottle. Just the burner and stand
Question: What wave-length are these? near-infrared 0.78–3 μm, mid-infrared 3–50 μm, far-infrared 50–1000 μm
Answer: I use it in my Golf Car in temps down to 20 degrees. I have curtains that cover the cart so most of the heat stays inside and the heater does a great job for that purpose. I haven't used it for anything else.
Question: Does this unit have a variable output control or is all or nothing
Answer: No idea..
Question: Do you smell propane or gas smell
Answer: Yes, it has that feature according to the manual.

Dr Infrared Heater

Based on 10 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The Dr. Infrared Heater's Advanced Dual Heating System, combining PTC and Quartz Infrared Element, keeps you warm this winter while saving on heating bills. Equipped with a Dual Heating System and High Velocity Low Noise blower, the Dr. Infrared Heater increases the heat distribution and the result is heating your room to a comfortable temperature, fast. The Dr. Infrared Heater is certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) USA and Canada, ensuring the highest safety standard. The Dr. Infrared Heater is perfectly safe around children and pets and only gets warm to the touch. It does not have exposed heating elements that can cause a fire. The Dr. Infrared Heater comes with Energy saving Auto Mode, high and low setting when the mode is set to Auto, the unit will cycle on and off and switch between high or low setting to maintain the desired temperature setting. All Dr. Infrared heaters are engineered and designed in the USA. How is Dr. Heater Different from Other Heaters? Dr. Heater uses infrared heating, which heats objects in the room, instantly making you feel comfortably warm. By heating only the objects in the space--not the air--Dr. Heater provides maximum warmth and energy efficiency. With its state-of-the-art technology that helps the room retain air moisture, Dr. Heater do not dry out your skin like those convection heaters that blast out hot air, stripping the room of moisture. And the best part? It will save you money. Use Dr. Heater instead of your regular heating system, and you could save up to 50% on your next electricity bill. Plus, with its tip-over protection and auto shut-off overheat protection, you can sleep soundly knowing you have got a heater that is superior in safety. Tests Show Dr. Heater heats Faster and Better than Competing Heaters. In a side-by-side test comparison in airtight chambers with the same starting temperature, Dr. Heater heated the same amount of space much faster than a competing heater that has a price tag more than double that of Dr. Heater. Dr. Heater Delivers 60% more heat than other 1500-watt heaters. No magic trick--we just understand heat transfer better. Just because two heaters have the same wattage does not mean they transfer the same amount of heat. Wattage indicates the amount of electricity needed to power the heater--not the amount of heat it can deliver. Heater is the first to feature a dual heating system for maximum heat transfer rate. It combines the energy efficiency of infrared heat with the comfort of convection heat to heat your room fast and comfortably--without hot spots and cold spots. Dr. Heater uses a state-of-the-art 7-inch blower that generates higher pressure and moves larger air volume at a lower speed, without any of the noise of those other heaters on the market. Dr. Infrared Heater has three power Settings: Auto, Low 1000W and High 1500W. The auto energy saving mode allows you to set your desired temperature from 50-86F. It smartly selects between the two settings depending on your room temperature. The thermostat regulates the heater and causes it to cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature. You can also manually set the heater to run on High or Low all the time or with a timer. The heater has to be turned on first in order to use the remote. This a safety provision mandated by the Underwriters Laboratory. So, in order to use the remote, the first step for the user is to press the POWER button on the heater itself. This turns the heater on STANDBY. Then, pressing the POWER button on the remote will turn the heater on. The heater can't be turned on if the unit is not on STANDBY.

  • Can heat up a large room with Auto Energy Saving Model With High and Low Feature. Tip-over protection and Overheat protection
  • Dual Heating Systems featuring infrared quartz tube + PTC with 12hr automatic shut-off timer

CONTROL AT A DISTANCE

Change the temperature, turn it off, or even program your heater settings without having to get up from already cozy, tucked-in position.

PROGRAMMABLE TIMER

Set up to a 12 hour timer that automatically shuts off when it reaches the number of hours you have programmed.

SOOTHINGLY QUIET

This blower is so quiet, you’ll hardly notice it’s on. The state-of-the-art 7 inch blower generates high pressure which allows it to move large volumes of air at a lower speed.

SAVE BIG ON YOUR HEATING BILLS

Dr. Infrared Heater works in a similar way as sunlight, by warming objects rather than air. The infrared heat feels natural and is energy efficient using 100 percent of the heat produced, which creates almost no loss in heat transfer at a low cost.

Easy to Maintain

Our heater is made to last you though many winters, therefore it comes equipped with a removable filter that is easy to clean and replace, allowing for a fresh start every time it’s needed.

More Heat then other 1,500-watt heater

Wattage indicates the amount of electricity needed to power the heater--not the amount of heat it can deliver.Dr.Infrared Heater’s advanced heating system enables greater heat production without using any more power with a high-efficiency blower that delivers an average of 250°F at 3.5m/s to your room versus competing heaters that can do only 155°F at 2.2m/s.

User questions & answers

Question: Will it accommodate the (slightly taller) 30 lb tank
Answer: Not enough room for 30 lb. Can use a 30lb if connected outside of cabinet.
Question: how large an area will this heat indoors
Answer: My drafty workshop (a converted garage) is 11x22 and needs approximately 10,000 BTUs. A good rule of thumb is 30-60 BTUs per square foot based on average ceilings. Drafty spaces in northern climates would need closer to 60, while my Tennessee shop needs about 40 BTUs per square foot, or about 10,000 BTUs. I have this heater and the max is 18,000 BTUs, which means I almost never run it on full power. An indoor space, well insulated, somewhere near the Mason Dixon Line would need about 40 BTUs per square foot, I'd think, meaning this heater would heat about 450 square feet. Less if you're further north, more if you're further south. It does not have a blower, so a ceiling fan really helps disburse the heat.
Question: Pilot Light does not stay lit to turn on, Anyone else have this problem or have a solution? It is new out of the box
Answer: after connecting the tank for the first time there will be air in the line, turn the knob to pilot, press the knob in and keep it pressed in for 5 or 10 seconds before pressing the ignitor button and after the pilot lights continue to keep the control knob pressed in for 30 seconds or more before releasing it to allow the air to bleed from the system, the pilot will stay then stay lit and you can turn it on, every time you disconnect the propane tank you have to do this to bleed out the air from the lines. I did the same thing the first time I lit mine, and also remember to keep the control knob pressed in for 5 or 10 seconds every time you light the pilot after lighting it for the first time. its a great heater and works well, to be safe make sure you check for leaks at all connections with 50/50 solution of liquid dish soap and water after turning on gas at tank before you fire it up, by the way, I use mine indoors in a efficiency apartment if the power goes out, just keep 3 ft. of open space in front of heater to be safe, sides, top, and back of heater don't even get warm, had my hands inside back of heater while running on high, tank, hose, and fittings were cold, only thing that was slightly warm to the touch was the upper left corner of the heat shield between the tank and the burners.
Question: I have one of these several years old, need a new thermocouple for it do you have those if so what is the cost
Answer: Good question! Let me know if you find one. This would be an excellent heater if the manufacturer did not use thermocouples that they know are defective. Why do I say that? Because nearly EVERY review that I have read States the same problem. Now I have a heater sitting out in my garage that will not light! I recommend that any person thinking of purchasing this heater buy a Mr Heater instead. They work! If World Marketing would send me a new thermocouple (that works), I would install it.
Question: Where can the refill tanks be purchased
Answer: These run on the little tanks that run a camp stove sold at Walmart, Costco or any sporting goods store. I don’t believe you can refill these.
Question: Can this heater be used at 4000 meters over sea level, given that this unit shuts off automatically when low oxygen levels are detected
Answer: I ended up sending crack the heater because the heater didn’t put out a lot of heat.
Question: can I use this while I sleep in a 4 persons tent
Answer: Yes
Question: Please reveal if you know of adaptor/adaptors needed to mount this to a 5 gallon tank. Not finding it myself. Thanks
Answer: I am not aware of any adapter. It seems to only fit the small tanks.

Its intended use is primarilythe temporary heating of buildings or structures under construction, alteration or repair. All the productsof combustion generated by the heater are released into the area being heated.
