Answer:	The wall behind? Not at all. I would have proper clearance around this unit. It only seems to get hot to the touch in front where the flames are. But the heat does rise and I use a fan located in the room aimed at the ceiling to circulate. Also no thermostat so it has to be controlled manually.

Answer:	It has an oxygen sensor that shuts it off if it doesn't have enough makeup air. It burns 99.9 % clean meaning no CO or carbon monoxide. The smell could be from other fumes or products in the air that the stove burns, (like paint fumes). I have used one for over 30 years no problem. Only if I paint or have some other fumes in the do I get a different odor.

Answer:	The fumes are not vented. Natural gas is mostly H₂, gasoline is about 50% carbon, coal is all carbon. So being mostly H₂, the combustion products are mostly H₂O with a little CO₂, not unlike what we breath out. Coal and gasoline will asphyxiate you fairly quickly because of the high carbon content, which must be vented outside.

Answer:	Well of coarse there are a lot of factors that determine what the temp in your garage can be dialed into like insulation in the side walls drywall and insulation in the ceiling which I have in my garage,also the outside temp.i can not give you a exact answer but I do know that at a outside temp of around 35 deg the heater kept my garage at about 58 deg on low So hope this helps some,I do really like my gas heater which has the fan in it also it gives me that instant heat I also have a wood stove that I use when it gets up to temperature I turn off or way down the gas heater of course depending on outside temps

Answer:	That's really hard to answer how many doors how big is your door how well is it insulated there's no way I can really tell you that mine heats up pretty good in about an hour and a half when it's only 15-20 degrees out with a 16-foot garage insulated door and two doors going outside one window.

Answer:	I have to say the first one I bought work fine the only problem I has was the igniters kept going bad what is a given considering how many years we've had it. This is the second one I bought I just had it installed 2 days ago and for some reason when you go to turn the heat down it shuts off and you can't get it to restart so there are issues apparently I need to address the company that sold it to me about. And so far the heater has not went up or down not once it stayed the same unless you adjust it but when you adjust it it shuts off. That's the best honest answer I can give you for the second one I bought.

Answer:	Regarding parts, I used a reducer elbow then attached a flex pipe to this (approx 18" in length). Regarding size, I used 1/2" piping from my basement to the heater which is attached to my ceiling in my attached garage. You have to be careful what size pipe you use. The longer the distance from the source the larger the pipe you'll need. Hope this helps.

Answer:	I put an angle finder on my heater and it registered about 40 degrees. It is fixed mount but you could probably bend it some. I use mine in a 40 by 22 attached garage and set the thermostat at 45 degrees. It keeps the snow melted off the vehicles does not run all the time. Great heater.

Answer:	Depends on the size of your tank. I live in the mountains of north Carolina.we have a 100 gallon tank we fill twice a season. Suggest that you look for one with a thermostat. They are about the same price. Best heat I've had!! Highly recommended !

Answer:	I believe that it would. I have it in a 200 sq ft room with 13 ft ceilings, the house is 118 yrs old w/no insulation and it works very well. I do have the bigger size in another room.It has 3 burners instead of 2 and you can turn on 1,2 or all 3. It heats 2 rooms I have.

Answer:	The heater is not designed to be used with an external thermostat.

Answer:	The fumes are not vented. Natural gas is mostly H₂, gasoline is about 50% carbon, coal is all carbon. So being mostly H₂, the combustion products are mostly H₂O with a little CO₂, not unlike what we breath out. Coal and gasoline will asphyxiate you fairly quickly because of the high carbon content, which must be vented outside.

Answer:	Yes, but be cautious....if you're buying it as a heater versus an ornamental piece, you should consider other options. The amount of heat the unit puts off is very unimpressive.

Answer:	The ones we have do not throw off a lot of heat. They are nice for the long flame that lights up dining areas, but for heat, I would go with a different style.

Answer:	Use an electric heater for covered porch. The risk of fire and / or carbon monoxide poisoning if not properly vented or if the unit is inadvertently left on is too high.
Question:	What is the ceiling clearance
Answer:	I know! The instructions are not very clear but if you move it to approximately 9:00 position (marked Hi) press in and hit the ignition, it will start. Hold the control knob in for a while and you will see it start to glow... it may "pop n' spit" a bit but it will calm down shortly. If a windy day keep the knob depressed a bit longer, release; and don't leave it until it a couple minutes. Make sure it is really going before you trust it. If you are like me (bald)... wear a hat, it really throws out the heat when you are close.

Answer:	I asked the manufacturer for the thermostate info. It has a knob on top from 1-5. 1-60.8°f 2-75.2°f 3-89.6°f 4-104°f 5-118.4°f He also said that they could vary slightly from heater to heater.

Answer:	The fan will mount on the back of the heater. There is a punch out that will be removed and the fan will go in it's place.
Question:	Would this heater work in a 2 car garage
Answer:	In short yes. we have this on the first floor of our house. it is not yet winter, but this is a 30,000 BTU heater; it heats the entire house fast - like 20 mins upstairs and down. I would say the same for a two car garage. I plan on moving this unit to the basement shop which is exposed to ground level in the back and unheated; basically a 1 car garage back there and I expect this to out perform. I will add one thing: this is the blue flame unit. I have had shop heaters before and prefer the radiant heaters (of which Mr Heater makes one just like this) - they have the clay looking elements in them that glow red/orange; those heaters will heat things in the space and then those items give off the heat. I used to aim one at my roll away tool box. in an area where you might have a lot of space up above, such as a loft the radiant version of this heater may be better as it will heat the items it is near with less heated air floating up. either way, this is a safe bet.

Answer:	It has a pilot lit that will stay lit at all times, unless you turn the dial to the Off position. The heater will start up when the thermostat dial settings determines that it's time to turn the heater on.

Answer:	I have a 20x30x10h shop. Lots of windows coverage. Non insulated floors above open front20x30x8 area. On a 30 degree day with help of a overhead fan it get up to 60. But must have a fan to move the air or I notice the area around heater warms up and shuts fan off early. Have heard about the temp wire being moved outside of heater may try that. Once the max temp you set is reached it does want to cycle on and off constantly. I just turn it off. It’s extremely nice to have. I haven’t seen a electric bill yet or used it more than a couple of hours aday. It’s definitely a 8 guage wire and 40 amp install. Im happy .

Answer:	No It is not 3 phase, but it is 220 volts and not 115 volts, to wire it it needs two hot wires and a ground, I said ground, being AC current the two hot wires alternately act as a neutral. With 115 volts you would need one hot wire, one neutral wire, and a ground wire. This furnace will work on 220 volts only.

Answer:	I have this heater in my garage which is 40 x 30 feet with 12 foot ceiling. The walls are cement block which are sand insulated.this heater does a great job in my garage. It heats up quickly and well controlled heat temps. Would not trade it for any other kind of heat or heater. I give it a high rating and am a very satisfied customer.
Question:	How many amp service breaker does this need ? Is 20 Amp service okay
Answer:	This is not a subject of opinion; it is a very specific matter, lest one burn to death in a fire. Whatever or whomever suggests anything else, is dead wrong! Ohm's Law is a fundamental law of physics, and the NEC governs everything! Amperage is calculated by dividing Wattage of the appliance by manufacturer's stated Voltage supply. Period. Street voltage can run from 220 to 240, so always go with the higher, and the current must never exceed the breaker, or it will do its job and break to prevent overload. 10,000 Watts divided by 240 Volts equals 41.6 Amps. This unit requires a 50 Amp breaker. Wire size is determined by load, length and material of the conductor. #6 AWG copper or #4 AWG will serve up to 165 feet with an NEC maximum allowance of 3% voltage drop from the source. A longer run will require #4 and #3 respectively. One CANNOT use any such thing as a 30 Amp or 40 Amp conductor or breaker!
