User questions & answers
Question: | how many btu's is this unit |
Answer: | On high, the unit operates at ~6000 watts. This equates to 20,472 btu/hr. This assumes 100% electrical efficiency. A solid assumption would be 20k btu. (1 BTU = 0.00029307107017 kWh) |
Question: | How many BTUs will this heater provide? How many amps will it draw |
Answer: | The BTU is 20,500 and at HIGH, this heater draws 25 amps |
Question: | Can this unit be used with an in line thermostat? i.e. will it come on when power is supplied to it |
Answer: | Yes if you can find one with the right amperage rating. I used a two pole contactor and used a 120v 20 amp thermostat as the switch |
Question: | What is the largest space/area in sq-ft that it can heat at full power? Can't find this info anywhere |
Answer: | My shop is 30ft x 30ft well insulated I North Ms. I will get it up to 60+ deg easy in 30-40 deg winter which is comfortable to work in, so I does what I expected. My main purpose was to have it set to keep shop above freezing and not have a heater on the floor. I set it for around 45. Did not notice a huge jump in power bill. Hope this helps. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this 3 phase |
Answer: | No It is not 3 phase, but it is 220 volts and not 115 volts, to wire it it needs two hot wires and a ground, I said ground, being AC current the two hot wires alternately act as a neutral. With 115 volts you would need one hot wire, one neutral wire, and a ground wire. This furnace will work on 220 volts only. |
Question: | What's the BTU output |
Answer: | Manual says 21,311 to 25,589 BTU per hour. |
Question: | I have a 28x32 garage with 10 foot ceilings. Side walls are insulated and drywalled and ceilings are just drywalled. With this work in there |
Answer: | I have this heater in my garage which is 40 x 30 feet with 12 foot ceiling. The walls are cement block which are sand insulated.this heater does a great job in my garage. It heats up quickly and well controlled heat temps. Would not trade it for any other kind of heat or heater. I give it a high rating and am a very satisfied customer. |
Question: | How many amp service breaker does this need ? Is 20 Amp service okay |
Answer: | This is not a subject of opinion; it is a very specific matter, lest one burn to death in a fire. Whatever or whomever suggests anything else, is dead wrong! Ohm's Law is a fundamental law of physics, and the NEC governs everything! Amperage is calculated by dividing Wattage of the appliance by manufacturer's stated Voltage supply. Period. Street voltage can run from 220 to 240, so always go with the higher, and the current must never exceed the breaker, or it will do its job and break to prevent overload. 10,000 Watts divided by 240 Volts equals 41.6 Amps. This unit requires a 50 Amp breaker. Wire size is determined by load, length and material of the conductor. #6 AWG copper or #4 AWG will serve up to 165 feet with an NEC maximum allowance of 3% voltage drop from the source. A longer run will require #4 and #3 respectively. One CANNOT use any such thing as a 30 Amp or 40 Amp conductor or breaker! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work on a single 20 amp breaker |
Answer: | No. The bulbs are very hot and would likely shatter if splashed. You can have them in a bathroom outside the shower or tub where they'd shine on you while your're toweling off, but not directly over the ub. |
Question: | will this heater work with a wall mount thermostat and if so which one |
Answer: | No. A tag inside the unit says "max 250W" The red infrared 250w bulbs may give off more heat than the white bulbs. |
Question: | What does the 2500- 5000 watt mean? Which is it? And is this unit noisy when blowing? thank you |
Answer: | I would not recommend installing this anywhere that a drop of water could splash or spray on the hot bulbs which are exposed. better to install outside of the shower enclosure, in an area that remains dry and protected from overspray. |
Question: | What has the increase to your electricity bill been like |
Answer: | Yes, in fact it is wired for that and the instructions describe how to wire it both ways: with 2 heat lamps (controlled by one switch), or with one heat and one illumination lamp (using two separate switches). It has a tiny fan and that is designed to be wired so it runs when the heat lamp (either 1 or 2) is on. |

This Smart Technology electric tankless water heater is configured as a "whole home" model for climates where incoming water temperature is 67°F and above. This model is well suited for heating up to 2-Gallon per minute, which is the equivalent of one shower head (with a 1.5 gpm flow) and one sink with a low inlet water temperature of 67°F and an output setting of 105°F. Digital Temperature Control allows you to set your temperature in increments of 1 Degree. This model can also be used in colder climates as a Point of Use for a sink or other low flow application. All tankless water heaters are sized based on flow rate and temperature rise, and there is a direct relationship between the two. So if used in a cold area requiring a high temperature rise, it will be more limited in the amount of fixtures (gallons per minute) it can heat at one time compared to a warmer climate. When sized properly this water heater will provide endless hot water and only consume the energy needed, giving the user complete control. Prior to purchase and installation please verify this model is the right size for the expected demand and electrical requirements. The ECO 11 requires a minimum 125 amp electrical panel for installation with 60 amp double pole breaker connected to set of #6 awg wire. Plumbing connections are 1/2" compression fitting with the option of 1/2" NPT adapter included. For additional assistance please feel free to contact our support center at 877-474-6473.
NOTE : 11Kw at 220 is equal to 13kw at 240. .Activation Flow : 0.3 GPM

User questions & answers
Question: | Ours has only been in service for less than a year - will not adjust temperature to anything above 85 Deg. F. What do you think is the problem ? kds |
Answer: | My only guess is that the rheostat (variable resistor) that the temperature adjustment knob is attached to may be faulty. If that isn't it then I don't know. Sorry. |
Question: | The warrenty says that this unit must be installed by a licensed electrician and plumber, for them to honor the "life time warrenty." why |
Answer: | Hello Bob, The reason is the same as why an innumerable number of gadgets around the world have that little "warranty void if removed" label. Because getting inside of one requires a certain level of training and expertise. Same with this unit. GadgetsGo is an authorized Ecosmart dealer. Kind regards,HenryGadgetsGo |
Question: | My house is wired 110V. What additional items do I need to purchase for the conversion |
Answer: | Just to expand slightly on prior answers, normally a residential service feed is 240 volts between the two incoming hot legs. There is also a neutral leg, which (hopefully) has zero potential with reference to ground. The voltage between either one of the hot legs and the neutral leg is 120 volts. The 120 volt circuits in your house are connected to one or the other of the two hot legs, and only one. An attempt is made to assign circuits to the two hot legs in a way that will roughly balance the load between them. The other side of a 120 volt circuit is connected to the neutral leg. There is additionally a safety ground run with the circuit, which also ties into the panel. Certain devices require more power (work product of current and voltage) than is practical to deliver using a 120 volt circuit. Common examples are your clothes dryer, and your electric stove. These devices are powered by both hot legs, with a difference in potential of 240 volts. This water heater is also such a device.STRONG BUT FRIENDLY WARNING: If you did not already know this, please don't make wiring this water heater your learning opportunity with electricity. Hire someone who knows how to do it right. Cutting corners, especially with higher currents and voltages, can lead to equipment damage, fire, and electrocution. Electricity is not magic, and you can certainly learn how to do many common wiring tasks safely on your own, but today is not the day to begin that journey. You need properly sized components, properly installed, and connected to an adequate service. Also, if you really, really foul up, you could conceivably wind up making that morning shower more energizing than you ever imagined, if you get what I mean. So newly aspiring electricians should go fix their grandmother's favorite table lamp instead. Once they have that working they can use it to to start reading books about electricity, residential wiring, and eventually, books about this stuff: http://amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_8?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=nec+code&sprefix=nec+code%2Caps%2C164 . Of course, you still have to know not to nick conductors when you strip them, and other trade craft like that ; ) . Like almost everything in life that is fun, electricity will hurt you. Sort of like all those people you dated for a while, and then wished later you had never met. |
Question: | what amp breaker is required |
Answer: | The National Electrical Code requires conductors and overcurrent protection to be sized at 100% of the manufacturer's branch circuit recommendation for tankless electric water heaters. A 60 amp breaker is the same price as a 40 or 50, it is the wire that costs more. #6 AWG wire is required for a 60 amp circuit. If you undersize the wire it could overheat and catch fire. Protect your family and follow the manufacturer's sizing for this, or any other, electrical device. Your family's lives are worth the extra money. |

3 Smart Steps for Endless Hot Water
Step 1: Determining your average inlet water temperature is important, this allows you to determine how well your unit will perform in your desired location. A lower inlet water temperature will require a higher kilowatt product.
Step 2: Next you will determine how many applications your unit can run simultaneously at your chosen location inlet water temperature. Tankless electric water heaters are sized for maximum simultaneous use, not maximum fixtures in your home.
Step 3: Determining specifications and electrical infrastructure is important because without the correct infrastructure your unit may not fit into your breaker panel.

Question: | How low can the thermostat be set to control |
Answer: | The thermostat on the heater is marked off, low and high. You can set it anywhere you want from off to high. I turn it until it comes on, let it run and adjust it up or down as needed. It works great, keeps my 1000 sf uninsulated garage around 50 degrees in below freezing temps. |
Question: | How many amps will this 7500w unit draw? Breaker and wire size |
Answer: | To find amps , divide watts (7500) by the voltage (240 , that's what 2 phases in your house is.) that equals 31.25 amps. so use # 8 wire on a 2 pole 40 amp breaker. You can't use a 30 amp breaker on anything that draws more than 30 amps . It may not trip , but it's not legal , or safe. |
Question: | Can i hook two of these to one 60 amp breaker |
Answer: | No. There is more to this. The unit is rated at 32 amps 240 but starting amps is much higher. This unit requires a 45 amp breaker and pulls about 38 amps when it starts on high and levels out at 31.8 for the one I have. You must run 8 gauge wire on a 240 line with no neutral. |
Question: | is this unit loud |
Answer: | It sounds like a box fan set on medium. |

Product features
Made in Germany
All CK heaters are made by us in our factory in Germany. We pride ourselves on a reputation for engineering & manufacturing excellence since 1924.
Ultra quiet fan
CK and CKT heaters have galvanized steel, squirrel cage type blowers that operate at a quiet 49.7 dB(a). The glass-reinforced poly-carbonate, radial type blower in CK Trend heaters operates at an even quieter 49 dB(a).
Even-heating down-draft design
CK and CKT heaters pull in cool room air from the top and blow warm air out the bottom. This down-draft design helps to evenly heat a space for maximum comfort.
Stand-alone or supplemental heat
CK heaters can be the sole heat source for small rooms. They can also supplement heat to a room that doesn’t get warm enough from a central source, as sometimes happens with a mini-split retrofit.
Built-in thermostat
All CK heaters have an integral thermostat for easy heat adjustment. CK and CKT heaters can be controlled by a wall thermostat in a room larger than 215 sq. ft.
Booster timer on CKT
The CKT booster timer outputs heat at maximum for up to 60 minutes. When the timer goes off, the CKT reverts to its thermostat setting, maintaining comfort at the original setting.
Frost protection setting
CK heaters have a frost protection setting. The lowest thermostat setting will maintain above freezing temperatures in an appropriately sized space.
CK Trend On/Off Switch
The CK Trend’s convenient and positive on/off switch completely shuts the heater off when it is not needed. The off position will disable the frost protection setting.
Installation notes
These heaters are not supplied with a cord and must be hard-wired.
CK and CKT models stick out 5“ from the wall and the CK Trend models 5⅛”.
Because these are fan heaters that blow warm air out the bottom, the recommended installation location is about 6-8” off floor, with 4” for a minimum.
All CK heaters should be mounted vertically.
Observe all installation manual precautions regarding minimum allowed clearances between the installed appliance and any hard surfaces.
Do not allow combustible materials on or near the heater.

User questions & answers
Question: | Cord doesn't reach my outlet. Can I use an extension cord and if so, what kind? cord |
Answer: | this is a 240V direct wired heater. It does not plug into a outlet |
Question: | Coil barely gets red? Plugged into 240 30amp. What gives |
Answer: | It has a thermostat. Perhaps it is reacting to the temperature of the ambient air. When it is at full bore (because of cold temperatures), it gets pretty red |
Question: | can you tell me how long the cord is |
Answer: | Cord is a little over 6’ |
Question: | The circuit I can use is 220V w/12-3 wire. Is this acceptable for this unit |
Answer: | The plug is a 3 prong which uses 2 hots with one ground. 12 gauge wire is code for 20 amp service in most areas I’m aware of but long length runs may require 10 gauge |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this sit on concrete |
Answer: | The air flows in through the back and out the front. I do not see any reason you could not sit this on concrete. I would not sit it on anything but concrete because it gets pretty hot. |
Question: | DR-975 power on - bad instructions Heater does not turn on after power interruption like instruction say it will. Any workaround from using remote |
Answer: | Yeah I returned my DR-975. It doesn't turn on when power is applied to it, so any automated system that powers it on a schedule will not work. You have to use the remote to turn it on manually. Also my interior thermostat wasn't working, when I switched to wall thermostat it would work just fine--even no wall thermostat was installed. So I don't know what's going on there. I just bought the 966 again since on Home Depot it's actually advertised at 1000sqft heating capacity. |
Question: | Were can i get a remote for this unit |
Answer: | This unit comes with remote control... |
Question: | Unit only displays “lo” not air temperature. doesn’t respond to up or down on the remote. internal thermostat only. what’s up |
Answer: | Your unit appears to have a defective temp sensor. Please contact support at 800.317.1688. |
