Answer:	I have had this fan for abt a month and I don't know the 5 modes. What I can say is that within the 12 settings, there are 4 different fan speeds that increase (modes 1-3, 4-6, 7-9 & 10-12. Within each of these 4 categories it gets stronger then as you go from say, 3 to 4, 4 is way stronger than the whisper soft 1-3.) I can only assume the 5th mode is when the fan oscillates... ? I can also say that I love this fan and the remote which allows you to oscillate the fan, turn it on/off, raise or lower the fan speed and set the timer. I may buy another for my guest bedroom. Hope this helps!!

Answer:	It is literally double-sided tape.

Answer:	It's a porous foam strip. Not sure of the exact chemical compound that it's made of. This is good to stuff into the gaps.
Question:	My windows do not close properly, what can I use to keep in the air from my AC unit
Answer:	We're using THIS particular product in a kennel after a dog chewed open one of the original side slats. It comes with 2 plastic frames-holders - one fits against the side of the AC unit and the other against the window frame. We cut them down to size and then cut the foam to fit - easy. We then used ALL WEATHER DUCT tape to secure them on both sides. It's neat, but not necessarily aesthetically pleasing - the dogs, however, do not mind. The foam is fairly thick and of good quality. There's an overhang over the window opening the AC unit is housed in to keep rain out, so the foam doesn't get wet. We'd been thinking of covering the exterior portion with plastic - having a piece cut to fit is about $25. BUT, I'm thinking of just cutting down a plastic cutting mat, such as those used for baking. They're much less expensive and would be easy to cut to fit, then tape in place.
Question:	How and where do you insert it
Answer:	Insert it behind the top of your lower window, after it has been raised, and the air conditioner is solidly in place. That lower window will now be 3/4 or so raised, and there will be a gap behind the top of the frame, where the upper window glass is behind it. To insert, fold the foam in half, and put that middle spot against the middle of the gap behind the top of your lower window. Then extend each half of the foam out to it's side of the window, press it in at the far side of the window, and then work back to the middle, pressing it down into the gap. This will bunch it up some (instead of cutting the foam to length). The foam is quite tolerant of being squished, and should be a bit more effective with more compression. Or, if you prefer, cut the foam to length (it's easy with scissors, a steak knife, or most anything sharp), and then simply press the length of foam down into the length of gap behind the top of the lower window. Some people apparently also use this foam on top of the air conditioner, to seal where the window comes down against it. I suppose that can be done, but there is adhesive backed foam weatherstripping which isn't nearly as thick, and can be permanently applied to the bottom of the window or the top of the air conditioner. The bottom of the window and the top of the air conditioner should both be pretty flat, so a 2-1/4" high piece of foam seems like overkill for any slight gaps that need to be filled where the window meets the air conditioner.

Answer:	It will add some, but not much. Keep in mind that this is a personal product, not a room air conditioner. You need to be sitting in front of it to gain any benefit from the cooling air. It doesn't put out a great volume of air but is a benefit if you are in a warm room and sitting at a desk, etc.
