Question:	How much noise does this make? How quiet is it
Answer:	very quiet, just faint motor noise and sound of mist coming out. Small light on turn-on switch noticeable but not bright enough to disturb at night.

Answer:	Wall plug... 120V... the unit is the size of a volleyball and a USB plug would not have the "juice" to run the ultrasonic atomizer and fan. Product is very nice and leakproof by the way.
Question:	does it use purfified or tap water
Answer:	Either tap or purified water can be used. If you live in an area with 'hard' water, you'll need to clean the unit more frequently since calcium will build in the base inside. That calcium will harden up over time and you'll have to literally scrape it off to clean it. Another solution is to use filtered water from one of those name brand water filter jugs.
Question:	I have seen reviews that say no filter is good, and others that say it's bad-- can someone point me to a good source of information
Answer:	Evaporative Humidifiers use a fan to blow dry room air through an evaporative wick filter. This wick filter sits inside the base of the humidifier, absorbing the water inside. When the fan blows air through the wick filter, the water in the wick filter evaporates and is distributed into the room in the form of humidified air. While this method uses no heating element, and therefore uses very little electricity to run, it does require regular replacement of the wick filters. There is also a possibility of mold, bacteria and fungi to grow on the paper-based wick as it sits in the water. There are bacteria treatments and antibacterial cartridges available which can be added to the water tanks to help prevent the growth of bacteria, but eventually the wick needs to be replaced with a new one. How often you need to replace the wick filter depends on many factors, including water hardness and frequency of use, but in general wick filters should be replaced at least every two months.Ultrasonic Humidifiers are another form of cool mist humidifier, but instead of using a fan to blow air through a wick filter, a small metal diaphragm vibrates at an ultrasonic frequency, which breaks the water down into tiny water droplets and becomes a fine vapor mist. Answer:	At least 24 hours. I keep mine about on the middle setting and I am still getting about 24 hours worth. It is a pretty big tank, but your time will vary a bit depending on the size and humidity of your room.

Answer:	The white powder is from the minerals in your water. The only way to really avoid it is to use distilled water.

Question:	How much water does it hold and how long will it stay on before its empty
Answer:	This will hold a little over 1.5 gallons of water. How long it stays on depends upon many factors. This winter when it was really cold and the furnace ran a lot, the humidifier very seldom reached the desired humidity of 45 that I had it set to, therefore it ran constantly and the water supply would last approximately 10 hours on medium fan. Since the weather has warmed up some and the furnace is not running as much it is easier to reach the 45 mark and will shut itself off. Because of this the water tank will empty out in approximately 16 hours. The room that it is in is 15 x 15 with 9 ft ceilings.
Question:	Owners - why does the filter turn a crappy yellow color, dry out on the top half and then disintegrate into chunks and dust? Using distilled
Answer:	You're probably letting it get empty, and the top of the filter dries out. (When the tank is empty the reserve is half full.) Fill it more often. Filter is catching what's in your air. thus the yellow color. My filters have a skeleton in them, that would prevent them from disintegrating. You may not have the correct type in yours.
Question:	I need a very small room to run at constant 80% humidity. Can this keep it there and be set to

Evaporative humidifiers have their best output at under 60% humidity, and release very little humidity above this level, as the air is almost completely saturated. Answer:	Absolutely! I whip this out the second the weather gets dry which is a lot here in New Mexico. I have allergies and it helps with those and helps the pollen in my house fall to the ground. My nose and throat get so dried out taking antihistamines dries me out more but this really helps. It also helps your home to have the humidity in there. I have them everywhere I am and it helps keep our house, walls, etc. from getting to dry and cracking.

Answer:	You have a choice - clean regularly every week OR use distilled water. You'll have to do one or the other for the humidifier to keep working. So your decision is: Do I want to take time each week to clean (about 30 minutes total) OR do I want to spend money each week (about 75 cents a gallon at Walmart)? My Decision = I've used distilled water for years (for both my humidifier and CPAP machine) and have never had any build-up. I'm happy!

Question:	Seems like a lot of people received this free for testing - did anyone pay for this and give a real review
Answer:	I paid for it and I also have it's predecessor model which is pretty much unavailable now. The new model has a much quieter fan, so that's a potential plus, but for me the killer is that the new model (this one) empties its tank about 20x slower than the old one. That means it's not humidifying as effectively, most likely because of the quieter (less effective?) fan. I'd skip it.

Answer:	No, it’s not ultrasonic. It’s the “warm steam” kind, with a heater to evaporate the water. I’ve been using mine for a week now and no signs of white dust.
Question:	How many annoying lights does this have, that i will have to cover with tape so I can sleep
Answer:	The lights are extremely small and a deep blue; you won't be bothered at all by them. I am an extremely light sleeper and it is right next to my bed. It only woke me once when it gurgled, but hasn't done that since that one time??? Anyways, you will love this.
Question:	When powered shutt off to unit will this turn back on to last setting.was at? When refilled does it automatically start back up again
Answer:	Thank you for your inquiry. If the power cuts off, the unit will stay off when the power comes back on. Additionally, when the auto-shut off triggers due to low water, you will need to turn the unit off and let it sit in "off" for 15 minutes before you can turn it back on so it can reset. Question:	What are the dimensions of this model
Answer:	I do not have the exact dimensions because this humidifier was noisy so I bought a different model; however, it is approximately 12 in long, about 5-6 at the top width (a bit more narrow at bottom), and about 15-17 in tall. It is easy to take apart to clean and pieces are dishwasher safe.
Question:	Am I supposed to see a mist when it's on? I don't see anything but it seems to work but not dissipate water as fast as other humidifiers I've owned
Answer:	No, it doesn't develop a mist; an ultrasonic humidifier or nebulizer might do that. The highest of the three speeds, as you'd expect, will put the most amount of water into the air per hour.
Question:	How often do I need to change the filter
Answer:	Thank you for your inquiry. The filters have a life of 1-3 months. However, this depends on the hardness of your water and how often you use the unit. The more minerals in the water, the shorter the life your filters will have. Question:	What is the capacity
Answer:	1.5 gallons....I like the unit. I have 2. You will have to fill with white vinegar 2-3 times a year and let it soak overnite then wash out---gets some build-up of minerals. Some have complained about the motor and problems. There is nothing wrong with the motor--it is NOT exposed to the water. The water is pumped with a very small magnetically driven rotor at the end on the suction tube (the clear tube inside the unit). Sometimes it starts making noise. Just pull out the tube and open the little drive unit...soak in vinegar...clean and put back together (a drop if oil on the stainless steel shaft is sometimes a good idea)

Answer:	This will not fit on a 12in duct, product dimensions are 16.25 x 18.5 x 9.75.

Answer:	I was looking for the answer to that also, I have a home that is almost 100 years old and I just recently updated to the Honeywell Home UV kit on my HVAC with the Honeywell Home T9 thermostat and 4 sensors in my home. Answer:	The humidity stat setting is when it will turn off not what it will necessarily achieve. If the furnace ran long enough you may be able to get to 60 but as others noted you probably will only achieve more of a differential from outside to inside humidity.
Question:	Does it require a floor drain
Answer:	I wouldn't say require, but it needs to drain into something. I know of someone who uses a home Depot bucket and just dumps when needed until they route to there floor drain. But the water needs to go somewhere

Question:	Is there a lid to cover where the water is poured
Answer:	No, it is a concave opening to the water tank. But, I love the convenience of pouring the water directly from the bottle without having to carry the tank to add from the kitchen sink. Look at the picture and you can see the depression on top where the water goes. This humidifier is just as good as my$189 humidifier I have.
Question:	Filter-free"- But reviews say it has a cartridge that needs to be changed after every 20-30 fills and costs $13.94 - Is this true or not
Answer:	Cartridge is optional. And finding them is not easy, I eventually found it hardware store online dot com. The cartridge is to filter out minerals from your water before they get to the humidifier to prevent the mineral dust people complain about. I have hard water, and it seems to be working. Only found a little mineral dust on the floor once, and we run it all night every night. Note: very quiet but sounds like running water, like a leak.
