Answer:	The fan has a fixed length stem. I shortened by cutting the stem and redrilling the mounting holes. Just be carefull to not over shorten stem.I also replaced the speed controller with a flush mount controller. This adds about $20.

Answer:	The speed control included in the box is hard wired in a standard single, electrical wall box. All the direction for hard wiring the controller are included. I used the remote option because I had one power circuit for two fans. I wanted the fans to operate independently, so the remote option was the only answer I could come up with. The remote control is an additional buy. It is wired in at the ceiling mount for the fan and slides into the fan's ceiling base bracket. If you use the remote control unit, discard the hard wired speed controller. The remote speed controller I ordered is "Westinghouse 77840, Four Speed and Light Dimming Remote, Black." it still available on Amazon. The fans work independently, for me, are just the ticket!

Answer:	Yes, with your heater on and the fan blowing the warm air should spread out evenly.
Question:	Can this unit be mounted in a wall
Answer:	Not really, since it moves a lot of air. I'm not sure how quiet something that forceful can be. I needed it to move air out the windows so the 20' x 20' room could then be detoxed (cats) with an air purifier. I guess whether the noise is a factor, tho it's not as bad as many others, is a personal choice.

Question:	What is the diameter of the Fan's motor? I plan to remove drum housing and install in existing through the wall fan duct that has 5" motor clamp
Answer:	Yes, you can. There are two hot wires going to the fan - black and blue. And one common wire - white. Wire the black and white to the fan switch. Wire the blue and white to the light switch. So you'll need a 12-3 cable (2 hots, one common, one bare copper ground). Disclaimer: I'm not an electrician, but I do all my own electrical, took home wiring as an elective in high school, and recently smoked a receptacle because I miswired it.
