Answer:	I used a temperature “gun” with a red laser dot: 116 degrees Fahrenheit pointed directly on the gold tube. Internal safe temperature is 75. Just installed the 18” model yesterday, September 26, 2020.
Question:	What does it do with the humidity it takes out of the air
Answer:	Humidity is a relative number, the amount of moisture in the air as a percentage of the amount the air at the current temperature can hold in vapor form before condensation starts to form. It doens't remove moisture, but by heating the air it increases the amount of water vapor the air can contain and thus the _relative_ humidity (same amount of moisture as before, higher capacity for the air to store more in vapor form) is indeed reduced. Functionally this has the intended effect because it prevents condensation (and thus rust and corrosion.)
Question:	What's the functional difference between this and the cheaper black version
Answer:	The main characteristic difference that I've been able to figure out (besides the color***) is that the GoldenRod units are higher wattage heaters. Question:	Do you have to take it off the charger to use it
Answer:	The “charger” heats up the cylinder. The cylinder is full of silica beads that change color when they need dried out”recharged”. The cylinder is then placed in a small closet, safe, etc. when the color of the beads change it’s ready for another recharge. They also sell just the cylinder and you have to heat it up yourself if that helps. But no I wouldn’t leave it in the charger.
Question:	how do you know if this is actually working
Answer:	The beads start out orange and change to black when they need to recharge, so you can see they’ve been working. Also, after a hot shower when my mirror is fogged up, I notice that the corner where the dehumidifier is clears up more quickly than the rest of the mirror.

Question:	So i own a drycleaners and in summer gets very hot and muggy i want to know if this will work for me in keeping the temperature down
Answer:	I had an older 1750A unit that lasted 3 years, and lost refrigerant charge. Aprilaire replaced that unit under warranty "free" with an 1850 unit. The 1850 lasted just under 5 years, and has lost it's refrigerant charge now. There are NO refrigerant charge ports on these units When it works, it works well and is efficient. I question the durability of the product. Will I buy this unit again.......??????

Question:	Would this work well in the South? Such as Florida
Answer:	I live in the Houston, Texas area and the unit does a remarkable job of reducing the humidity here so I see no reason why it wouldn't do the same in Florida. Please be aware that the the unit is shipped with the CONTinuous switch activated by default preventing you from adjusting the humidity setting up or down. Turning off the CONT switch allows you to fine tune the unit to whatever humidity level you are comfortable with. I currently have mine set to 40 and it cycles on and off as the humidity level goes up and down in my home. With it set at 35 the dehumidifier runs almost continuously and fills up the water container in 24 hours or less. If you leave the CONT switch on your first impression is that the unit is broken. The FAQ's and the manual is of no help and if another review had not explained this problem I would have returned the unit thinking it was defective. I am very happy with the unit and have the fan speed set on high which is controlling the humidity in three large rooms or more. I have not run the unit with the speed set to low so I can't say how well that would work. The noise generated on either speed is not too objectionable and is hardly noticeable.
Question:	Pump is not working. Water goes into reservoir. Why
Answer:	Works great. Put a hose on it, runs right into the floor drain. Reservoir dry. Not sure why anyone would have a problem with this unit. Pump vs gravity I’ll go with gravity. If the battery dies on gravity your biggest problem will not be humidity.
