Answer:	The total weight of 5 surround rm58's is 15.4 pounds. I believe these stands will work fine. There are several ways to attach speakers to these stands. I had lots of hardware leftover.

Answer:	The base is about 10 inches in diameter and metal along with the the mounting shaft is also metal. I've got smaller Bose speakers they work fine. The 601 might fit and the weight might not be a factor but not sure

Answer:	You don't need to drill holes into your speakers as the speaker stands have adjustable clamps to lock the speakers in place. They also come with rubber pads that attach to the stand's speaker clamps. For extra security, you could replace the rubber pads with velcro strips.

Answer:	From the Sanus site - Top plate dimensions are 6"W by 6.5"D-inch steel.
Question:	What is the size of the base
Answer:	The speaker base is 6.5" by 6.0", the floor base is 14" by 11". I blues tacked my 12" by 8" Def Tech monitors to them and with the carpet spikes they have been very sturdy for almost 2 years now. But I have no kids or dogs to potentially knock them over. Great sound, no vibrations even when very loud.
Question:	How heavy is each stand? And what kind of shots (size wise) can you fill with
Answer:	I don't know how you would fill them with shot because the holes are so small. I had to use a very fine playground sand and feed it just a bit at a time into the holes.

Question:	Having never had speaker stands before, how do the speakers mount on the platforms, or do they just sit up there on non-skid pads
Answer:	They won't mount onto the platform, however, most speakers have pegs or "feet" which are rubber tipped. If your speakers have no pegs, you can simply use non-slip grip squares or velcro strips. Command brand now makes an interlocking velcro-like strip that will work good and remove cleanly.
Question:	If I'm using these on a hard wood floor (without the spikes), won't the speaker wire sit under the base and cause it to not sit flat
Answer:	No the wire doesn't come out from under the base it comes from behind a plastic insert that is in back of the v portion of the stand,

Answer:	I don't think it will be a problem at all. The Saunus SFC18 is very sturdy. My B&W Nautilus HTM2 only weighs 21 pounds, but I think you could easily put something twice as heavy on this.
