The table arrives in 6 metal pieces, plus the two pieces of glass, and you assemble by connection the two end pieces by 4 metal rods, then sitting the glass pieces on top of the metal rods. If you choose not to connect any of the elements the table will not stay together. Hope this helps!

Answer:	Yes, the "X" braces are necessary for stability. I have my shelves loaded with heavy books and in a location where the unit will not be bumped by people or pets. It is completely stable. If you were going to display only items of little weight and also put the unit in a place where it could not be bumped, you could ,perhaps, leave the crossbars off.

Question:	Could this table be used as a bench
Answer:	It says it can support up to 350lbs. I've sat on it a few times myself and it seems pretty sturdy but I'm not sure if it would support several people at once. It's also a bit wider than a standard bench. You may also need to tighten the screws from time to time but other then that it's a very good table for the price and I will be buying another.
