Answer:	No, the tray is gorgeous with a beautiful tight and sturdy rattan weave. The tray could easily hold bottles of spirits and serving glasses, even glass plates, it will hold a good amount of weight. The butler stand looks nice, however, it is very wobbly and would not hold up to even a slight bumping.

Answer:	the tray sits on top of the base and doesn't lock into it in any way. However, the wood on the bottom of the tray overhangs the legs by about half an inch so it doesn't slide off the base. In other words if you lightly shake the whole table side to side, the tray will not fall off. You have to lift it off or lean the table on a 30 degree angle or so for the tray to fall offHope this makes sense.
