Answer:	It is 38.5 inches inside at the bottom where the feet are (the feet are wider than the legs). If you have files cabinets under that dimension they should.

Answer:	I haven't had that happen, but I would not recommend trying to do that. A transmission rod controls the raising and lowering of the desk. If you tried to force it up or down, you might damage the mechanism.

Answer:	3/4" thick. The top comes in two pcs. 1 pc is 55"x 11 1/2" and the other is 55" x 15 3/4" and both are connected and held by 8 small dowels in between both pcs. Once both pcs are connected the entire wooden top is held by 3 screws/bolts on the bottom onto a bracket on each side of desk along the 55", making it 6 screws all together.

Answer:	I’m not sure, but did you confirm that the gear was fully installed on the left side? If one side is going up, I think the entire device would unless the left part is malfunctioning or the metal pole connected to the motor wasn’t completely inserted?
