I suggest getting the wood support version,I don't think 8 inch gaps are a good idea for any mattress.

So I’m really not sure if it is the heavy weight on that side or the plopping. We have only had this frame for 10 months. Our old box spring (wooden) we had for over 10 years, it outlasted several mattresses.
