| Answer: | The one I ordered didn't have the dividers, but was also made from bamboo so I assume it's the same as this one. Mine had a smell to it which was probably the smell of the wood itself. I don't think it is toxic, however, I didn't want the smell absorbing into my materials either. So, I put two coats of a clear coat on it, inside and out. This completely eliminated the odor. I can't remember which clear coat I used, but a polycrylic would work. You can get a small can of it at Walmart or almost any hardware store. It's inexpensive. |
