Answer:	they are very light and fine woven... soft and light. I would not describe them as thick at all, but they are durable. You do now want to wash them in a washer. Just swish them in the sink in a gentle soap. I used Dawn dish soap, but I think regular detergent would be fine. then hang them to dry. they dry very quickly. The zipper is on one end and cushioned by the gap fabric so you do not feel it or even see it. they feel cool to the touch which is refreshing. I notice that my hair does not tangle when I sleep and I dont see any indentations from the pillow case on my face when I wake. Wish I’d bought them years ago.
