They do not come needing a wash, but some people like to do it. That said, the pillow will puff up a bit, and it will also shrink a bit with a wash as it is 100% cotton. However, if it's purchased with a pillow protector then it doesn't need to be washed at all since the cover can be washed instead and keeps out liquids, etc.! :-) I hope this was helpful! Answer:	They look really fluffy, but after you lay on them, they soften. While they provide nice support, they're soft enough to sink into. Pillows are a very personal choice, and I can sincerely say these are the nicest I've used in many years. They keep their shape, but when I lay on them, I don't feel overly raised which is what I want. If you want a pillow with a frim loft that holds your head up, then they are likely too soft for you.

In addition, it matters that the cotton is organic, because conventional cotton is very water and chemical-intensive to grow. Organic cotton is grown with more consideration for the environment (admittedly there are some nuances to this.)

Polyester fiber is not an organic material because it is man made. However, we do not treat it with any chemicals whatsoever! Usually, in the textile industry, the Polyester fiber is treated heavily with different substances, including mold and mildew resistance chemicals, flame retardants, dust-mite repellents, and more. We do not treat our Polyester fiber with any of those chemicals. After trying and testing other organic options (including wool and cotton) for the filling, we came to the conclusion that the cluster fiber material is the best. Answer:	This blanket does not shed at all. This is the softest blanket ever. Everyone that touches it wants. I've already bought another for my daughter for Christmas.

Answer:	Yes. I washed it in my HE Front loading machine on delicate. Then put it in the matching dryer on ‘air no heat’. Reduced about 90% of the shedding. I suspect the second wash will completely eliminate it. I don’t know why people say you can’t wash this or put it in the dryer, just follow the instructions and it turns out perfectly fine.
Question:	Would you say these are a more "firm" or "soft" (down-ish type) pillow
Answer:	If the non-shaggy side was actually sherpa, maybe, but since the non-shaggy side is just cheap absolutely not sherpa crap it will make you colder, your apples colder, and the area around you will be colder, turn blue, and shatter like glass.

Question:	Can you recycle buckwheat Hall
Answer:	I have inadvertently thrown this pillow into the washing machine. In order to dry the buckwheat hulls after the pillow had gone through the wash and rinse cycles, I took them out of the pillow casing and spread them to dry. Once dried, they were stuffed back into the pillow. So they can be washed and reused. . If I thought they had reached the end of their usefulness, I would put them into my compost. All vegetable matter goes into that compost which eventually is added to my garden soil.
