Answer:	It is because they use ferric pyrophosphate as opposed to ferrous sulfate. Ferric pyrophosphate is more potent and 10 mcq is the equivalent of 10 mg of ferrous sulfate. It is also absorbed more readily. So no...you didn't read it wrong...and it is the right dosage as well. Always make sure to read what source the iron is...whether ferrous sulfate, elemental, or ferric pyrophosphate.
