In a sealed compost bucket they work without oxygen to ferment the food waste. The breakdown is completed after the fermented food waste in buried in the garden or added to a compost pile.To your question specifically: In a conventional compost pile or in a compost tumbler they will work with oxygen to simply accelerate the natural bacterial breakdown of the organic material.

Answer:	Hi Susan and thanks for this question. The rice/wheat bran that I source is not organic so I assume that some pesticides were used. I do think that the residuals would be minimal considering that I ferment by Bokashi Brothers Bokashi for a full 21 days at controlled temperatures using Organic certified mother cultures from SCD Probiotics. One of the beneficial bacteria species in the mother culture is a purple non-sulfur bacteria (PNSB) which are very good at mitigating toxins. You can research PNSB's on the internet as to the effectiveness. Because of this, strains can colonize; this liquid form of probiotics are live, raw & shelf-stable, and can easily survive the high temperatures of the body, stomach acid, and antibiotics. SBOs are adept at surviving in higher temperatures because of their natural lifecycle and studies have shown that SBO probiotics are that much more well-adapted to the environment of the gut, and survive in the digestive tract where they can provide long term benefit. The three organic grasses used in this process are ‘Trade Secret’ and are not going to be listed.
