The 1 or 3 day versions have the strongest concentration of med. Yes burning in the beginning is common... it's an infection and the tissues are inflamed. You do not have to have itching on the outside for the infection to be rip roaring on the inside. Douching will only make the infection worse and Vinegar on inflamed tissue is not helpful either. Douching clearing out more good bacteria... is bad news you don't want to be even more unbalanced. In the 7 day treatment burning at the start subsides in max an hour for me and only on the 1st or 2nd day. I unfortunately have a lot of experience with this issue due to chronic antibiotic use. This medication is the only one that works for me. If on the 7 day treatment it's "unbearable" for more than an hour you really need to get into your doctor and get checked out. I also move my head to be sure I have the best position for them to be swallowed. I change my behavior because I want them to go down right!
