Answer:	Not lined but they need to be! The case alone does scratch the lenses a little at a time. soft lenses, not scratch-proof at all. I'm on my second pair now, with scratches from day one.

Answer:	I don't know what is scratch proof. I have used them for years now, and they seem to be easy to clean and mine have no scratches. Answer:	If you're combining the two lenses 2.5 & 3.5 you'll end up with a 5.00. So the 4.00 would be less strong. I use to put a 1.50 & 2.50 together and the 4.00 that I bought is the same magnification.

Answer:	It depends on your eyes and their vision. The worse your vision, the higher strength you’ll need. I use them for needlepoint, paint-by-numbers, and reading extremely small print. The 4.0 is perfect for me, but 6.0 is too strong and everything is blurry. Go to a drug store and try on the OTC readers, putting one pair on top of another and see what works best for you.

Answer:	Even at the weakest magnification, you have to hold whatever item you’re looking at about 2 inches from the lens. Not for long-term use. I use it for things like getting out a splinter, tying a knot in beading, something very short term.

Answer:	You need to find something that provides a long depth of focus! The one I bought is such that, you must hold the thing you're looking at about four inches from your face, within a couple of inches one way or the other, which is awkward. Also look for something LIGHT in weight. I removed the left eye-piece to use separately, and now just use the right. Especially since this unit does not offer separation adjustment so the odds of you getting stereo vision with it are not good.

The magnification is truly 5x for large lens and 10x for smaller lens and it was the best magnifiers that I bought for coin collecting and I have tried the cheaper ones and they are worthless. Answer:	I think the numbers are in diopters rather than magnification power. This is additive to the diopter measurement of your eye (which changes with age) so if your eye currently is capable of 1.0 diopter, you add this to that to get a new strength of 2.0 diopters. So yes all of these lenses do indeed magnify.
