Question:	Do you have to use the light bar for stability of the side handles
Answer:	Yes, the product is fully assembled. All that needs to be done is to extend the legs and lock them into position as needed. Very sturdy frame, but needs a back board to give something for the patient to lean against.
Question:	Can I purchase replacement anti-skid strips from the manufacturer
Answer:	The part that has the seat and back is the part that hangs over the bathtub. You sit on the seat and slide over into the tub. You have to swing your legs into the tub or lift the patient's legs into the tub. When the seat slides to the other side it has a clip that holds it in that position until the clip is released to slide back out of the tub (the seat slides side to side).
Question:	Does the LED light need to be plugged in or is it battery operated
Answer:	I measured as best I could with legs in highest position. The clearance below the lowest point (the sliders on the seat that connect it to the frame sit lowest) is about 19 1/2. I'd say you probably want the tub height to be below 19"...maybe 19 1/4. Hope that helps!

Answer:	I have a pillow top bed, 16-inches. It works better on a smaller width mattress. If I had long feet, it would be too short. You cannot use heavy blankets on this blanket support and do not over-tighten it or the screws will strip. For 18-in clearance go with "Toe Space" brand. FYI the rubber stoppers on the Mabis Adjustable blanket support pop off easily, so beware. For short-term, good solution. My husband drilled 'debits' into the metal legs so the screws would not strip out as fast and last longer.

Answer:	You need to take the thickness of your mattress into consideration. The bar that holds the sheet or blanket can be adjusted to a width of 20 inches of height. This means the U shaped support bar under your mattress to the bar that holds the blanket is this measurement. I do not think you can keep the covers 4 to 6 inches away. Two to three at most is what I have. Know this is windy but hope this helps you. I like mine.

Answer:	Depends on the height of your mattress. It comes about 15 inches over the top of our mattress. I has been a literal lifesaver for us as my husband can hold on to it to pull himself up and to get his balance before standing up. Before the Medline Assist Bar he slid out of bed many times and had a very hard time getting us without assistance. Now he can do it himself! Saves straining my arms to help him. A real lifesaver!
Question:	One person said this would fit a queen size bed, another noted extra stapping was needed. Which is it
Answer:	We have this on a king size bed, my husband says he didnt use any extra strapping to attach it to the bed. Hope that helps! There are times we have to push it back in because depending on how much, how often and which way you use it it can start to slide out from between the box spring and mattress. Its not a big deal though though im only 5'1" and have no problems getting it back in place by my self.

Step 1:

Step 2:

Assemble the Bed Assist Bar as instructed in the user guide.

Attach the Storage Pocket to the outside of the Assist Bar.

Step 3:

Take the mattress off the bed. Place the assembled bed assist bar at a desired location on your bed. Wrap the safety strap around the box spring or bed frame from your location to the opposite side of the bed and back again. Tighten. Place the mattress back on the bed.

A simple push-button adjustment lets you slide the legs and soft grip handle up and down to provide a custom fit.

Question:	Can I use this without a box spring and just lay my mattress on top? Fo I need dlats or a box spring in conjunction with this product
Answer:	Thanks for your inquiry. The product needs to be used with a box spring.
Question:	Can this system be used under the "plastic boxes" on which a sleep number bed mattress rests
Answer:	I would still put at least a layer of wood between the support frame and the mattress. I bought 1x10 yellow pine at Loews and covered the frame making sure the wood rested firmly on the bed frame as well. I used a regular sealy queen. I felt it gave the mattress solid support. I have a sleep number bed myself now. Because they are such an expensive unit, I wouldn't risk damaging the mattress. By the way, I got rid of the frame (nothing really wrong with it though) and went with the support unit with sleep number - the kind that can raise the foot and head. My back has been happy since. But I would never just put the sleep number unit on this frame without some other support - either the pine boards or plywood (3/4). Good luck.
Question:	Can these be screwed in directly to the wooden rails? do i need to add a bunkie board for additional support even though i have box spring
Answer:	If you have a box spring no bunky board is required. I mounted my X-support system to the wooden rails that used to support the wooden slats on my bed. Used 6 wood screws to do the job, 3 to a side. My mattress is a heavy king and there are 2 box springs to support it. It all works well, no additional support needed.
Question:	I have a bed with metal side rails -- will this work with an all-metal frame? One reviewer says it won't, but the product description says it will work with both a metal and wood side boards. What's the story
Answer:	This is a bit of a mixed answer - It CAN work with just about any metal frame, but it will be a lot easier with some frames compared to others. The support does include the necessary hardware to bolt to a metal frame.The tricky part is that with a wood frame, you simply screw the cross rails down where they rest. Most metal frames will have some holes pre-drilled in them along the rails, but the support may not perfectly line up with all of those holes since it has a fixed spacing between cross rails.With a metal bed frame, the options usually are:1) Rest the "lip" of the cross supports on the inside of your bed rail. Bolt down as many holes as will line up, leave the others resting. This isn't the most secure option, but will still provide good support.2) Drill 1/4" holes in your bed frame using a bit made for metal which will line up with the ends of the cross supports, so you can bolt down all six points.Using this with a metal frame is definitely possible and will provide good support, but it won't be quite as easy as using it with a wood frame.If your metal frame already has some pre-drilled holes, you may want to look at a support such as the Mighty Lift FQU-11 which doesn't have a fixed spacing - This will let you line up the cross rails with the pre-drilled holes.

Question:	Would this be good for a bunk bed? Instead of a boxspring so the kids cant feel the bars
Answer:	I don't know. This has worked well between mattress and box springs on an ancient twin bed. However, it might not be sturdy enough to be effective on a bunk bed without springs. It seems that a single slab of thin plywood would be better. There are staples holding these pieces together and, I have snagged a fingernail occasionally when making the bed. Good product for me, maybe not for you.
Question:	Is one folding bed board enough support for a queen or do I need two
Answer:	It’s the right size for a twin or twin XL . For a Queen size you need 2.
Question:	Does this stop it from sinking in and throwing me off the bed
Answer:	Depending on your weight it might. I bought it for our fold out couch and it worked for a week before the board cracked. My son (170 lbs) kneeled on the edge of couch and it snapped the corner of the board off :( it’s made of partical board and the strapes are held in place with staples.
Question:	Can this product be used with a sleeper sofa? I'm trying to make our sleeper sofa as comfortable as possible
Answer:	I am sure it would. You could easily fold it up and store behind the sofa when not being used as a sleeper.

Question:	Has anyone used this on a convertible crib? Our 13 mo old co-sleeps with us and want her in her own bed but she's a wild sleeper
Answer:	The rail is 43-inches long. When the crib is converted to a toddler or day bed it would probably work. But, it would depend on how the convertable crib was designed as some have built in guard rail.
Question:	Does the rail swing down to be flat against the base of the bed? The photo makes it appear as though it swings down, but may rest at an angle. Thanks
Answer:	The first response is correct, if the boxspring and frame are high enough off the ground the rail will swing down and lay flat. Just installed my sons this week and the bed and frame are super high so it lays flat w/ no issues. For reference the TOP of my box spring is 21in off the floor, this leaves a 2in gap between the floor and the rail when it is in the down position.
Question:	Will this work on a mattress which i placed directly on the floor without box spring
Answer:	No. The rail is held in place by a strap that goes under the mattress. at the end is a piece of plastic that forms a T with the strap. In other words, part of the plastic sticks up, and part sticks down. this keeps the rail from slipping. If you put the mattress on the floor, the "T" wouldn't be in a proper position and wouldn't hold it. I think you're going to need a box spring for it to work properly.
Question:	I have a bunk bed that has at least a dozen wooden slats but no boxspring or plywood piece. Would it work for me
Answer:	This bedrail will only work "properly" for a bed with mattress and a boxspring. It will also work for any other bed like wooden beds but you wont be able to pull it down to the side of the bed. Just keep it upright all the time. The thing is the main frame of the bed on the side will prevent you from folding the bedrail down. If the wooden bed has slats, just tie the two supporting part of the bedframe to two corresponding slats, You may use a packaging tape to tape it in place.
