Answer:	Yes. I am still not sure if I am an idiot for paying so much for a thermometer, but it's worked great for our baby. It takes just one swipe from the middle of the forehead.

Answer:	This thermometer gives no advance warning that it thinks its battery voltage is getting too low, and worse comes. I took my temperature with it this morning and handed it to my wife, who was surprised to see its display repeatedly telling her to "contact thermo.withings.com". Both batteries measured 1.28 volts (using an accurate Fluke DVM), low but sufficient to keep the display cycling for over 15 minutes. (The manual says you'll need new batteries every 8 months, which is about how long ours lasted.) We have sadly learned that this is not a smart thermometer, but a stupid one. After I put in new batteries, it did not simply return to working as it had been. Now it won't take a temperature. The only thing Withings gives me to work with is another "setup" through its iPhone app, yet that app refuses to pair using Bluetooth to go through "setup" again. And neither the thermometer nor the app has a reset/restore button or function. Our $100 thermometer has become a brick IN ONLY 8 MONTHS and one set of batteries.

If my children are sick when I have to go to work, their childcare provider can take their temperature throughout the day and I am automatically sent a notification on my phone with their temp so that I can keep track of their illness. Since it is so quick and easy to take their temps I can keep a log multiple times a day while they are sick to see if they are trending better or worse. I feel less nervous when they are sick because I am better able to monitor their illnesses.

I get at least a full 24 hour day from a full charge (I charge while my son bathes so I’ve never taken it to 0). Plus the base will alert you at 99.5F and 100.5F so you will want that nearby so you can hear it.

Important Tips for All Temperature Readings

• Always wait for three flashing lines on the display before every reading. Wait at least 15 minutes to take a reading after eating, drinking, exercising or bathing.
• If you or your Kinsa were outside on a cold day, wait until you are used to the new temperature before taking a reading.
• A person’s body temperature will fluctuate depending on the time of the day. The best method to determine your own normal temperature is to record it twice a day (early morning and late afternoon) when feeling well. The average of the two is considered your normal body temperature.

Underarm Readings

Wipe armpit with a dry towel and make sure that no clothes are in the way. Place the thermometer probe in the armpit and keep your arm pressed firmly against the body. In general, a normal underarm temperature is considered 35.8°C - 37.2°C (96.5°F - 98.9°F). Also, please note that underarm readings are typically 0.6°C (1°F) lower than oral readings; this is perfectly normal. The Kinsa app automatically takes underarm readings into account when calculating the severity of the fever, but it does not artificially add that 0.6°C (1°F) to the temperature reading.

Oral Readings

For oral readings, always place the probe tip of the thermometer in your mouth’s heat pocket - under the tongue at the back of the mouth. Keep your mouth closed while the temperature reading is being taken. The temperature in one spot of the mouth can be very different from another so always put the probe tip in the same heat pocket for every reading. A normal oral temperature is considered 36.1°C - 37.7°C (97.0°F - 99.9°F).

Rectal Readings

Consider applying a bit of petroleum jelly on the QuickCare tip to make it easier to insert. Place your baby on a firm surface, either on her stomach or back, with legs lifted up to the chest (think diaper-changing position). Insert the probe tip about ½ inch inside the rectum. Never insert the probe past the metal tip. Stop if you meet any resistance. Hold QuickCare between two fingers while keeping your hand cupped around your baby's bottom (you might need to squeeze the cheeks together to hold it in place). Remember, rectal temperatures tend to be about 0.3°C (0.5°F) higher than oral and 0.6°C (1°F) higher than underarm readings. In general, a normal rectal temperature is considered 36.4°C - 37.9°C (97.5°F - 100.3°F). If you'd like to verify your results, be sure to wait 5 minutes first for the most accurate second reading.

Answer:	We did not register ours as I find unless it is a very expensive item warrenties are not always cost effective. 2) Emissivity of forehead, oral and cochlear is different from each other. The temperature tested by the non-contact thermometer may be affected by the hair, sweat, different parts of the skin and many other factors. And the temperature of human body is different in the morning and evening, women's ovulation and non-ovulation. The range of body temperature from infants to the elderly also varies. The normal temperature range of human body is 96.8~99.32℉.

3)The distance between non-contact thermometer and the forehead will make the forehead temperature a little lower than the contact thermometer.

Answer:	I am not aware of a feature that let's you mute the sound; however, it is a very low tone that I sometimes have trouble hearing it so I doubt the sound would be very bothersome to you. In addition to being a soft tone, it is very quick tone so again I can't imagine that it would be very bothersome.

Answer:	Calibrated 3 ways: compared with my MD’s forehead thermometer with multiple samples. Used an electronic pen thermometer orally with multiple samples. Used water heated to 98 degrees (using Thermopen) and dip Infrared tip into the water. All measurements were at least 1.2 degrees lower. Also beeper sound never worked.
