The loudest sounds it makes only happens if a fever temperature is detected, but I still don't think it would be loud enough to wake someone as long as you took the temperature from the farthest distance possible. Answer:	The typical forehead temperature is between 97.5°F – 98.4°F . It is usually about 0.5°F below oral temperature.
Question:	My display shows “Lo”, is it low battery
Answer:	According to the user manual, the “Lo” means temperature is under the measuring range selected , not low battery. Low battery will be displayed with an empty battery icon. The “Lo” could be caused by measuring room or “air” temperature in “Body” mode. Room temperature of around 75°F is “Lo” as compared to human forehead temperature of between 97.5F°F - 98.4°F .

Downright dangerous if you trust the results. Fevers that read as normal and normal readings read febrile.

Answer:	No, this thermometer cannot be used as an oral thermometer for adults. The probe is too short to take an accurate under tongue temperature, and it is calibrated for rectal temperatures, not oral temperatures. Answer:	You can cut the whole bottom out and the outside will still stay inflated if you cut holes in the bottom it just won’t hold air we have one the kids use like a inner tube because the bottom ripped so I cut it out.

Answer:	I would probably not use it for river tubing unless it was a very calm river. We purchased this raft to take out on a pond and the first trip it got a hole before we even use it. The best we could figure is it got caught by a briar on the way. If one small briar put a hole in it, I don't know if it would hold up to any rocks or branches that may be in a river.

Why Measure in the Ear?

Ear temperatures accurately reflect core body temperature, since the ear drum shares a blood supply with the temperature control center in the brain: the hypothalamus.

Smart Ear thermometer monitors the infrared heat radiated from the eardrum and surrounding tissue and detects once an accurate temperature measurement has been taken.

Taking a Temperature

Ensure the ear is clear of earwax and debris and the tip of the thermometer is clean.

Choose one ear to use for readings and stick to it. There is a small temperature difference between both sides of the head and so choosing one ear will produce more precise readings.

Smart Ear uses an infrared ray to measure the temperature inside the ear. To ensure the most accurate reading, please use the proper technique:

For infants under the age of 1, gently tug the ear straight back to straighten the ear canal before taking a reading.

For children over the age of 1 and adults, gently tug the ear straight up and back before taking a reading.

Cleaning & Storage

The probe tip is the most delicate part of the thermometer. It must be clean and intact to ensure accurate readings. If there is any debris left on the sensor window at all, it will throw off readings.

To clean the probe tip, use a cotton swab with alcohol and gently clean the small round window at the tip of the sensor.

Smart Ear is designed to be used without probe covers so you never have to worry about refills. Clean the probe before and after every use.
