Answer:	It opens flat. Then velcro behind the knee for above and also below the knee. Then 4 more velcro stretch to tighten the brace.
Question:	Can I run while wearing the brace
Answer:	If you don't have any pain when you run. The brace itself is quite compatible with motion and running could be done. The brace would have to be worn correctly; lower strap on first, snugly. Then upper strap snugly followed by the adjustment straps. Make sure you measure correctly, 3" ABOVE the knee, around the lower thigh. I will actually cross the adjustment straps so the upper straps attach to lower in the back followed by the lower adjustment straps attaching to the upper rear.
Question:	It this good for a petite frame
Answer:	Probably, if it comes in different sizes. It's also adjustable (velcro straps).

Answer:	It's pretty adjustable but it would be too big for a child. I am a 5'5" athletic female and it fits good. But if your super petite or thin it may be too bulky when your knee bends if your moving a lot while wearing it. I teach Pilates and fitness class with it on.

Answer:	I own this brace and the 875. I purchased both in 2014. I use the 875 every week in Houston while playing tennis and the 872 is used about 1/2 the time on the other knee. I tried on many brands and the Shock Doctors felt like they gave me the best support but everybody's knee is different. I don't see any excessive wear on the 875 even though I have been using it 3 hours a week for 6 years in the high humidity and heat of Houston. I can push off as hard as possible and it does not slow me down. I would not call it comfortable but it is very comforting to know I can't hurt my knee.
Question:	Is there some way to select whether the brace is for the left or right knee
Answer:	There is no right or left for this brace.
Question:	I measured 2" below the center of the knee cap and got 14.25" to 14.5" . Would you recommend the L or XL
Answer:	Mine measured at 15.25, which I could have gone with the XXL instead of the XL. My only issue was when it was new, it was very difficult to put on, because it fit me really tight/snug and it doesn't help that my calf muscle is pretty well formed. I have had it for a few weeks now and it has stretched a little, but it is still snug, easier to pull up now. So, to kind of answer your question....I usually am an XL, so I went with XL. You are like me, you are in that in between size where you could go either way, I would just go with the way you think would better suite you. I like that fact that it's snug, I feel like the XXL would have become a little loose. Hope that helps.

Answer:	Nemo, I just measured my knee for you, mine is 16", I then measured my brace, it's just about 16" of stretchable material. I think your knee is going to be borderline for this particular brace. That's a bummer, because I play racquetball 3 days a week, very aggressively, and I am really happy with both braces that I wear. They do stretch quite a bit, that's why I say you may be borderline. You could purchase them, put it on and see if it fits, and if not then return it.
